Rubes Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Great story, @Alphadawg7. Love it. And love the thread, getting to read everyone else’s Josh stories too. Just a great reminder of why this site is so great, why Josh is so great, and why it’s so great to be a Bills fan. 5 2 Quote

The Little Master Sachin Tendaulker and the incomparable Brian Charles Lara. The two finest batsmen of my and many lifetimes. Met them both on the same day. Both absolute gentlemen. I also got a tap on the shoulder at one point in the afternoon and turned around to see a former Prime Minister who I briefed a number of times when he was in office. That impressed my pals haha. I think it's important to highlight how absolutely foreign or even fictional the bolded passages seem, without context. Such whimsical gobbledygook. 12 hours ago, GunnerBill said: This made me think who is the worst hero I met. And it's another cricketer. I met Marcus Trescothick at a game about 10 years ago and he was horrible. I was polite, didn't approach in a place where he could be embarrassed or harrased and he was just rude and dismissive. He is now England's batting coach. Same as above. Bless your Bri'ish heart. 1 2 Quote

Chandler#81 Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Semi-unrelated, Jim and Jill Kelly celebrated the birth of their 1st grandchild. Sadly, there appears to be serious issues with the baby’s health.😢 5 Quote
SoMAn Posted July 12 Posted July 12 That’s a lovely anecdote: Put a lump in my throat. But sadly, we’ll never know what we could’ve had if they picked Josh Rosen. 😃 1 Quote

My Dad, son and I were sitting in the VIP section of the bleachers at TC (when there used to be such a thing) and we noticed that some members of Josh's family were sitting a few rows down - his Mom, Dad, sister, grandmother (not Patricia, the other one), and Britt. We had brought the pic in my avatar, which was from a previous TC Josh's rookie year (my Dad and son in photo) hoping to get near him again and see if he would sign it (we tried to play the old man card later - propping my Dad up by the fence waving the pic - or rather more accurately, stoically holding it aloft like an 85 yr old Lloyd Dobler - but alas Josh did only sign for kids that day, and not old men) As a joke I told my son he should go down and get Josh's family to sign the picture, not thinking he would do it - but sure enough my son popped up and went right down and struck up a conversation with them about the picture, and how we were going to try to get Josh to sign it later - maybe they all could too? Instead of acting put off by this kid coming out of nowhere with this goofy request - they all just good-naturedly went along with. Especially his Mom and Dad struck up a conversation with him for a few minutes, talking and joking with him. I came away with such a good impression of his family from that brief encounter - just seemed like such genuine, good, down to earth people. Below is a pic of them on the field after practice that day with Josh - and their sigs on the back of the pic My eyes keep going to Britt 🥵 2 Quote

I mean when I was in high school we went to Liverpool We brought our soccer team and our baseball team Our soccer team was supposed to learn from the best 17-year-olds in England.. we were there to play their best 17-year-olds in baseball and help them While we also played some cricket My baseball team fared way way way better at cricket than the cricket team did at playing baseball lol Sure we weren't world beaters but we did much better comparatively Sure your soccer team beat the s*** out of our soccer team but that's why they went there lol You act like USA doesn't have a top 15 cricket team lol and a top 15 soccer team We barely care about either yet can produce teams that could win matches let alone we go to the Olympics in soccer we don't care And basketball and baseball are tremendous sports to play especially as youth through your teenage years Edited July 12 by Buffalo716 1 Quote

That isn't my argument. They have been a reasonably successful mid ranking soccer nation for much of the past 30 years and they are one of the better, more progressive, associate nations at cricket. But baseball still sucks. Quote
