Beane and McDermott in fact both praised his work ethic.  That is certainly not his issue.

How does that apply? What are we miss communicating on? The guy went to get more money and it didn’t work out. Nobody ever works out for them. The jaguars destroy careers. If I was Hunter I’d be very concerned. He will be a bust because of the team he went to. Gabe can fit into a role we really missed out on here. The downfield passing attack. He was a very good bill and a great locker room guy. Absolutely bring him back

Two - We aren’t likely keeping 6 WR, and if we do it would be to keep a ST player only like Shenault as a returner. Especially with all the new guys brought in for the secondary and DL.  So to bring him means at least Moore would be gone.
 

He would be a backup here playing more as a WR4/5 with Samuel at best.  And we still have Kincaid and the RBs (who all 3 RBs catch and made up 20% of Allen’s target last year).  That means Davis would be coming here for a role that is destined for 10-30 catches at best without injuries creating more opportunities.  
 

Do you really think Davis is going to choose that minimal role over a team where he could compete to start or at least be an actual WR3?  Seems less likely to me than him going to a team with a bigger need and potential role like Giants, Steelers, Pats, Ravens, Sea, SF, etc.  

 

1. Injuries are always a factor in football.  
 

2.  Moore has earned nothing.  His signing is similar to Dane Jackson at db.  He wins a job or doesn't.  
 

2a. Davis was most efficient and effective in the wr 4 role early in his career.  Can back up multiple positions and is suited for the dirty aspects of the position Samuel, Moore and even Shakir are not.  Ideally, Coleman takes that over.  Again Coleman has to prove it.

 

Im not saying this is the best situation for Gabe.  Im looking at is a fan of the Bills.  I would ask Gabe is 30 catches from Josh Allen passes equal or better than 50 catches from any Giants Qb or any Pittsburgh Qb?  I think an argument could be made they are.  If any of Coleman, Shakir or Palmer don't make the progress we hope Davis has produced with Allen.  Samuel and Moore are anything but sure things at this point. In football competition rises the floor.  Davis puts everyone in the room in an earn it mind set.  How as a Bills fan is that not a good thing?  No one is going to pay him more than 11 mil.  Thats what he is making from Jacksonville so he would be on a minimum deal from Buffalo while Jax covers the other 10 mil.  Maybe Gabe is shot from the injuries and doesnt make it.  Its cost the Bills nothing.

His total payout was not 39 million--it was basically his guarantee 24.7.  But yes, by all means lets look to the JAGS as the standard fro FA signings (or any FO competence at all), lol.  Tebow! Bortles! Foles!
