Doc Brown Posted Monday at 07:56 PM Posted Monday at 07:56 PM Big whoop. The wind won't get confused there. Quote
boater Posted Monday at 08:04 PM Posted Monday at 08:04 PM Oof. Rough neighborhood. Game day traffic is going to be epic. I get vertigo just thinking about being on those upper decks. 1 Quote

Beast Posted Monday at 08:17 PM Posted Monday at 08:17 PM Washington building a 3.7 billon dollar stadium. People freaking out everywhere when the Bills were building a 1.2 billion dollar stadium. 1 Quote
RobbRiddick Posted Monday at 08:46 PM Posted Monday at 08:46 PM I don't know about anyone else but I've always had an affinity with old abandoned stadiums. There's something really atmospheric about these huge, empty buildings that once held so much atmosphere and celebrations and special moments. I remember seeing people exploring the old Silverdome in Detroit and it was fascinating. Just found this video on RFK from some urban explorers here and it's pretty interesting. When you think of all the big moments they had there, like the NFC championship games, and now it's just a ghost. Listen closely and you can hear the brass band playing hail to the Redskins as Pat Summerall and Madden wax lyrical about the Hogs. 3 1 1 Quote
Lionel Hutz Posted Monday at 09:25 PM Posted Monday at 09:25 PM I'm sure it will be a nice stadium, but all these new stadiums look very similar (not in a good way). The old stadiums might have been dumps but at least they had some personality/charm. Now all the new stadiums look like some variation of the Cowboys stadium. 3 Quote
Low Positive Posted Monday at 09:34 PM Posted Monday at 09:34 PM That looks like a copy of SoFi. 2 Quote
astb41 Posted Monday at 09:39 PM Posted Monday at 09:39 PM man all the new stadiums look the same. is there not a unique option out there at $3 billion?!?!?! Quote

Thr lot will be the stadium plus ofguce/ residential/ entertainment. the plan will be people getting there by metro/ subway. There will be a minimal amount of parking. Quote

Have you ever seen the video of Emerson, Lake and Palmer playing "Fanfare for the Common Man" at the empty Montreal Olympic Stadium? MikePJ76 Posted Tuesday at 12:39 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:39 PM those nfc east games played at RFK were pretty awesome. That was a special setting and they left for that giant dump they have been playing in since. Quote
T master Posted Tuesday at 01:54 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:54 PM (edited) Does any one know the actual reason they left that stadium some places look better than some of the places in the Bills stadium today . It just amazes me that the power is on and the facility is basically running but is in no way being utilized . I could go in another direction but I'll just leave it at that . Then the stadium that they play in now Fed Ex Field will be sitting empty like this one is and it isn't even 30 years old yet It was opened in 1997 . Edited Tuesday at 02:01 PM by T master Quote
zow2 Posted Tuesday at 02:21 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:21 PM Interesting that they have renderings as I didn't think they even hired an architectural firm yet. Terrible area that will need to be modernized and made safer...but the stadium looks very cool and will cost billions when it's all said and done. Quote
shane nelson Posted Tuesday at 03:40 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:40 PM Loved the old days when there be a big game at RFK with the view of the Washington monuments in the back ground. Glad to see the new stadium will be there. DC weather is pretty mild, little surprised and disappointed its a dome, probably feel it can be used all year round Quote
