Is it time to move on from McDermott?

This system is not working. It is time to move on from McDermott.  I would rather have a mini rebuild and a chance at a Super Bowl before the end of Allen's career and miss the playoffs for a year or two to get there, than seven more straight years of 11-12 win wild card seasons and a defense that allows 30+ a game.

As of 10/13/25 I am officially on the FIRE MCDERMOTT/BEANE bandwagon. I appreciate being involved in getting the Bills Josh Allen, but they are not the ones to bring them to the promise land. It’s the same old story every year. Injuries, soft defense, old vets in starting positions who shouldn’t even be on the field.

The least he can do right now is fire/demote Babich and take over the defense. They looked much better in the second half.

He should get the remainder of the season, but anything less than another AFC title game then he is gone. I don’t see him even making it past the first round. The Pats over took the Bills. A Wildcard is very possible.

McDermott is role playing as a mastermind when the reality is that he’s sitting on josh Allen’s shoulders and is at best average. This type of stuff happens in real life all the time. This team is josh Allen and nobody else. Exactly what all our worst fears from preseason are.

He should have been fired before this year but both he and Bean are tied at the hip. As much as I want to move on from McDermott Bean should be canned first. There is not enough talent on this team.

Not even trolling as I'm genuinely curious as There are a lot of McDermott fans here.

Please tell me- What do you think he does to elevate this team?
 

Please consider context as well, as Josh Allen is a top 3 QB in the game that he has to work with

If after the break the Bills can pull out of this rut and go on a run, win the division and make it to the divisional round of the playoffs then McD/Bean should keep there jobs. If the Bills collapse and miss the playoffs they should be gone.  If they make it as a wild card and are one and done in the playoffs then I would also dump them both.

I think it’s time to move on from both Beane and McDermott. These amount of money and draft capital spent on this defense is crazy. Make no mistake, those are Beane and McDermott’s type of players. Small, slow and soft. The defense actually played better in the second half without the smallish Bernard in the middle.

 

Dungy was shown the door in Tampa and the Bucs won the Super Bowl the next season. I’d look to move on from both Beane and McDermott. Josh Allen has covered the warts of this team for a long time but those warts are getting larger by the year.  The only problem is it scares the ***** out of me having Terry Pegula making any decisions.

Is he a terrible coach? No as he has some good qualities, like culture.

 

But he is a high floor/low ceiling coach.

1/3 through the season?  How many seasons do you need to see before you realize that any 10 year old kid playing Madden would be better!?

Firing the HC right now isn't going to happen. Nor should it. If he doesn't get to the SB, I'm definitely out on him.

this feels a lot like Marty Schottenheimer.  great coach,  good guy, put out a decent product year after year,  couldnt win the big ones.
