Just read that 183 bodies have washed up on Lanai, the neighboring island as of this afternoon. People that jumped in the ocean to escape the flames and were swept away.

So?

So, it clearly demonstrates that the priorities of the "mainstream" media are tilted.

I would like to think that you knew that and are just deflecting, but nowadays I don't know.

Democratic lawmakers who blamed the recent wildfires in Hawaii on climate change were largely silent in response to requests for comment when asked about evidence showing the state's main power company is responsible.

"The lawsuit alleges that the Defendants acted negligently by failing to power down their electrical equipment despite a National Weather Service Red Flag Warning on August 7th," Maui County said in a release announcing its lawsuit last week.

Hurricane winds without heavy rain to put out fires . Whoever kept the power on should be held accountable.

Whoever barricaded the only road out of town needs to be prosecuted.

388 names

On Thursday, Maui officials issued a list of 388 names of those still considered missing, in an effort to slim down the number of people whose whereabouts were unknown — a number that at one point was beyond 2,000. Ever since its release, friends, relatives and internet sleuths have anxiously scoured the list

So, let me understand.  Turn off power to the hospitals?  Jails?  Traffic lights?  Sewage treatment plant?  Nursing homes?  Police stations?  Fire stations?  You're kidding right?

What a mess

Hospitals should have backup power , or is it better to burn down the city and let most die ?  If the fire is controlled first responders can respond.

Critical infrastructure should have back up generators right?

That's better news than over 1,000.

Hopefully the impacted people had good insurance. As large scale disasters multiply as a result of climate change, the insurance industry needs to adjust rates to reflect the true risk and costs of living in risky locations.

You’ve obviously never worked at a utility and your ignorance shows.  What about the old person on an oxygen machine?  The person on personal dialysis?  You like looting I guess.  Fool.  What a moron.

If the electric grid collapes like it did from the fire how will those old people get power ? You don't shut off the whole island just the fire area.

For dopes like you the utility is an easy target.  Turn off the power in anticipation of a fire and then the fire doesn’t come.  Utility blamed.  Don’t turn off the power, get a fire.  Utility blamed.  Ignorant post.

How  would you stop the fire from spreading from downed power lines from the wind without turning off the power in the affected area ?

Whenever a natural disaster like this or hurricanes hit, I wonder to what extent the federal government should be providing money to the impacted people and businesses. I understand the need to provide limited term emergency aide for food and housing. However it also seems that many people expect the government to fund their rebuild when it is their responsibility to have insurance to cover that. The national flood insurance program is underfunded from artificially low premiums. Government and private insurance companies need to adjust their premium rates to reflect the true risk of living in fire, flood or hurricane prone areas as these events are occurring with increasing frequency. If people can’t afford the insurance to live in those locations, then they stay at their own risk or can move to less risky areas.

For the power company, if they weren’t replacing their poles and weak poles blew down blocking roads and causing fires, then they are liable. Other than that, the problem seemed to be dry grass fuel with strong wind that caused the fire (thought to be extinguished but not so) to race to the community built from wood. Hard to pin that on the power company. Residents warned the government of this danger as a similar fire at a smaller scale occurred several years earlier. It all seems to be a failure in preparedness.

Answer my question dope.  What would you do?  Such an idiot. You have never been in a decision making position in your life.  You have been a bottom feeder your whole life criticizing others.  Never done anything with consequences for your decisions, other than taking your morning dump.  ***** you.
