Elam is still getting "lost in space" in zone coverage. He's still thinking about it and not just see-and-react, it makes him a step slow. He can man up though. Benford has the zone coverage down. He understands what he's supposed to do and when and why. He's got "zone eyes" (so does Dane). At this point, it completely reasonable that benford might be better than Elam. I thought Elam played better last year. Definitely made bigger plays to help this team out. Benford seen action in about 10 games and started over half. He seen the field more but never made as many stand out plays. I hope you're right, and certainly the contract the Bills offered him makes it clear they think he's got more to offer there than McKenzie did. The question with Sherfield isn't "is he a game changer on offense?" but "has he shown himself to be a better offensive contributor - a better WR - than Kumerow was?" The NFL is a matchup league. There will be times this year that having a guy like Elam will be beneficial. We have 2 games against Tyreek and Waddle and 2 games against Garrett Wilson. Allows the Bills to press a guy like Hill or Waddle and take them off their route, which was proven to be an Achilles heel to the Dolphin offense at times last year.
