Interesting stats with Mahomes KC Air yards going down but they keep winning games.

Just saw this. That's why I truly feel Josh will have more accolades when all said and done. Allen can be just as effective underneath I feel and is better deep and intermediate and running

It was so frustrating seeing Mahomes dump it off to his RBs or WR screens go for 100s of yards a game.

I've been saying constantly, if Allen takes the underneath stuff more often he'd be unstoppable. I'm sure it's play calling too but just look at NE playoff game in 21. Allen was going underneath, ran the ball very well w Josh and RBs. Opens up PA and deep ball and they had absolutely no idea how to play us cause as a defender you're on skates all day.

And I am sure the Bills Anylitics team has taken notice. YES Mahomes can throw it deep.. But he does not have the deep fast get open WR's. Kelce is a machine but this is proof he not a deep threat.

Just an interesting article I thought you guys would appreciate. I no longer have PFF but if someone does, I would love to know JA air yards over last 4 years to compare.

For the Chiefs it’s all about play design and taking what the defense gives them. Mahomes ability to evade the pass rush inside the pocket adds another element. Eventually guys tire out and he picks up major yards on scrambles, it’s very unusual to see Mahomes rip off a 20 yard run in the 1st quarter.

I know the Bills saw some of this too...but teams just played a ton of cover 2 shell VS the Chiefs this past year...dropped 7 or 8 into coverage.  ....Andy Ried really preferes that the ball go to a player who is open and alot of the play calls are designed to get a guy open.  KC doens't throw "contested catch" type stuff if they can help it.  Never run that corner fad in the red zone for example... part of that is because KC lacks a jump ball type WR....and part of it is KC likes to use speed and if teams give you short...KC takes short.

I just don't see for Mahomes and the Chiefs how that trend can continue and be as successful as they were this past year.   Pretty soon teams are going to begin playing tight against the shorter stuff and risk the deeper stuff.

Oh please football Gods let it happen....I'd love to see another 2018 type season on offense.

New England showed that a short passing game can be as effective if not more effective than a running game in fact the West Coast Offense started the trend.

That very well could happen, but it beats letting them dink and dunk it down the field all day long.

I mean he had Hill in 21 . MVS in 22. Josh didn't necessarily have elite speedsters in Diggs / Davis and McKenzie was lackluster. That's why I see Harty having so much potential. Reminds me of John Brown and look what Josh did with him

This is very important to the evolution of football. While I am and was a Singleterry fan he wasn't what this offense needed. We needed a Perrine type RB or that fatass in Baltimore to pickup short yardage, but we also needed a RB who could get to the flats, run the wheels, and could get the short yardage pickups.

Our RB's didn't do that last year. Maybe the OL sucked. Maybe Josh never chose them. Maybe the OC didn't let that be an option.

Either way, the utilization of an underneath pass catcher is yuuugeeee.
