Hopkins released by Arizona (7/16: signed by Titans)

Benjamin Albright is reporting that the Bills are open to trading away Diggs.  I'm not sure I believe him but if true, it's one more reason to get DHop.

“I talked to some people in Buffalo on the condition of anonymity and they said that, ‘Publicly, we’re not moving him. Privately, we would consider it under the right circumstances.’”

I wasn't really saying anything about Gabe. Just that Juju ain't it. I don't think Kincaid will quite get there to #2 status in year 1. I think Gabe is a fantastic #3. Gotta make it work by hitting the open man in this offense instead of opting deep all the time when there are underneath options. Knox will help too,

That is also a good point... how they are utilized makes a difference.

How many WR3's getting nearly 1000 yards (including playoffs) and 8 TDs last year?

Also, only 14% of Allen's completions and 9% of his attempts resulted in catches over 20 yards.  That's the vast majority of catches in the shorter range---and nothing like "going deep all the time".

I think that's the point

Davis's targets incredibly efficient, so having him at close to 1000yards is an anchor on your offense

He needs to be a third option, w fewer targets and yards

So you want to change the personnel on one of the best offenses in the league???

He doesn't really want to sign with the Cheaters or Titans.  Otherwise he would have already.  He may just have to if he's mostly interested in money.

The longer this lingers the more I begin to wonder whether we may not be out on this after all.

Yes. That's how you improve, by getting better players

Not changing what's working to accommodate limited ones as you propose

I said nothing about changing anything to accommodate Davis.  I simply would like to see a more consistent lower variance approach.

Seems like our favorite play on 3rd and 2 was a 40 yard sideline bomb.

Best in the league on third down

Sherfield also had 14 fewer targets.  Primarily because he had 2 really good WRs on the field at the same time.

I guess a wash. McKenzie also had mainly 1 v 1 matchups.

I think Sherfield will be a decent upgrade.  I think Harty could be special.  John Brown type #s. Ppl forget Brown went for over 1k yards 6 TDs in 2019. Could see Harty go for 800 and 8 TDs , because we have way more weapons now compared to 19. Also, Josh is light years better than he was in 19

And so do we. Davis might not be Waddle. But considering our TEs vs Miami, playmaker wise..

I think it's pretty even

And Sherfield the year before in SF? And the 3 years before that in AZ? To me Sherfield is an avg guy and a roster bubble-type player. Not an upgrade to the WR just a replacement.

Sherfield showed last year he can be a WR and contribute on ST, key being both.

first of all the bills can't afford to trade him this year esp after the last restructure....   these reporters spewing out garbage like this is so stupid.  cap hit this year would be 13.2  and next year would be over 31 mil... he's not going anywhere

Why would you want an incredibly efficient (42 of his 48 catches were for 1st downs or TDs) receiver to have fewer targets?

Because on third and forth down he was targeted 28 times and caught 12 passes. That’s 43% catch rate when we need a play to keep a drive moving. Thats terrible. That’s much below his average that was bad to begin with.

50% catch rate

passer rating of 80 when targeted

One can argue the drops are on him. All the other misses are not--Allen  shares in that obviously...6 of his targets to Davis went to a Defender.

How many 4th down targets did he get?  What the average?

Would be idiotic from a cap perspective. Diggs knows this . Part of the reason he’s being a dick.

He got 1. So he was 12 of 27 on third down. Not much of difference but still proves he’s very unreliable

Six of his targets went to defenders, some of which looked like miscommunications. We rarely see Allen and Diggs have these miscues but we do with Davis and Allen. 🤔
