A couple of thoughts.  I can't imagine why Buffalo wouldn't consider giving his agent a call and at least offering him a contract.  Whether or not he is interested in signing again with the team that cut him is another issue.  Second thought:  If I were Araiza, I would be looking at what legal recourse I would have to hold the girl accountable.  Not only did her lie cost him a possible year with an NFL salary, and maybe more, but her lie makes it harder on other young girls that do get raped. It's a small think but the more girls get caught in lies, the easier it is for the attorneys of future defendants to sow seeds of doubt in the minds of jurors.  Next time the accused might be guilty.

It’s all disgusting. You can’t hold someone who’s emotionally unstable accountable for anything. I’m waiting for case law to declare cell phone use is a recognized disability and affords kids protection in the workplace via the ADA. I’ve had kids (my way to describe someone who uses a cell phone for emotional support) have full-fledged meltdowns when I tell them to put it away and focus on work. (I’m in banking)

To all the people on here that exclaimed “always believe the victim”, your thinking is doing a disgusting diservice to society. Did this court of public opinion help any future victim of rape? No! It made it that much harder for real victims to come forward.

How about we change it to “always take the victims claim serious”. Is there something wrong with that?? Lets then help the victim with supporting evidence to back up their claim the right way. But whatever the elitist journalists and keyboard kings say is gospel nowadays. That was on full display in this situation. Disgusting

Thank you. Exactly.

Hopefully he gets his career back at least. He'll never be a Bill, but some NFL team should give him a shot.

Would it make sense to bring him this preseason to compete with Martin? He would a cheaper option.

Yup

The reaction of bills fans last year when this came out was waaaay overboard. Never even had a chance to prove his innocence

Bills Mafia Babes went in on Araiza during all that.

Seems a lot of our Twitter mafia reps have scrubbed any Araiza slander as I search their Twitter mentions.

Sorry if anyone has linked this thread earlier but if not, here it is. Lets see who amongst us rushed to judgment:

Happy to say I was absolutely on the right side of this issue, and the proof is in this thread - thanks for finding and posting.  I got absolutely blasted for it too, by some nut-job with serious mental issues - cant recall her handle / screen name.  Happy for Matt!

He'll definitely sue her and her lawyer.  She should get jail time as well.

How does it take a year for it to become public that he wasn't even there? Insane.

How long did it take for use to learn that Ed Oliver blew a 0.00 BAC at the scene of his traffic stop?

Hopefully we can find room on the practice squad and in camp for him.  Get him some paychecks until he lands on a 53.

If he’s that good, things will work out just fine for him. There are 31 other teams who can bring him on board without flack now that this is clear. He lost one year, and that sucks. It’s unfair and everyone should be held accountable, both in terms of actions that night and an investigation that lasted longer than puberty!

Yes, it was. It’s over now…just ask Michael Irvin.

Irvin was falsely accused of sexual assault in 1996:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Irvin

"Fabricated sexual assault allegation against Irvin"

[excerpt from wikipedia:]

"In 1996, as the Cowboys prepared to play the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Divisional Playoff game, media reports stated that Irvin and teammate Erik Williams, while under the influence of cocaine, had sexually assaulted a Dallas Cheerleader, Nina Shahravan, and, with a gun to her head, videotaped the interaction.

Despite Williams' and Irvin's denials of the allegations, the story largely overshadowed the game, which the Cowboys lost. The accuser was later proven to have fabricated the entire incident. She recanted her story, pled guilty to perjury and filing a false police report, and was sentenced to 90 days in jail and a fine.[16] In the game against Carolina, Irvin was injured in the opening minutes and did not return."

He overcame this and continued a successful career with the Cowboys for three more years and then went on to a successful career in sports broadcasting. So, so can Matt Araiza, hopefully with Buffalo.

Oh Twitter was on fire over Punt God. How dare the Bills draft thins scumbag?? Oh, he was innocent? Well, whatever.

You can’t even find their slanderous mentions anymore.

All of the big Bills fan accounts seem to have the ability to delete tweets, but not issue a mea culpa.

besides the accuser herself, yeah those BMB women should be the first to say something publicly. Hard to expect an actual apology, but maybe an acknowledgment? I wouldn’t hold my breath though.

I would imagine since she's underage he could go after her parents and their assets in this situation right?

And Araiza should sue her parents.

I just said the same. Yes.

Most likely her parents have homeowner's insurance, which would cover this (I think).

Astonishing how many people here concluded he was guilty without knowing anything, maybe reserve judgement next time.

I am not sure if anybody here on TBD accused him. I wasn't, buy many were going by an allegation that he admitted having sex with her, which is, by definition, statutory rape in California. I am still angry we let him go. It won't happen, but the fair thing would be for the NFL to award us a 5th 4th round comp pick in 2024.

Yeah, no, more than a few accused him of being guilty.
