Od course he lied

What did he lie about? I've seen the argument that Pence was too cautious (Trump called him weak), but where's the lie? He said he was convinced, after seeking the advice of his counsel, that he lacked authority to reject electoral slates. Are you saying that's a lie? Then I guess his counsel is a liar too. I guess Trump is the last honest man in America. Including you.

To these you may also add Ashlii (sic) Babbit, the official Martyr (from the AP)

Her Twitter account, which was taken down after her death, was rife with references to the QAnon conspiracy theory, which centers on the baseless belief that Trump has secretly battled deep-state enemies and a cabal of Satan-worshiping cannibals that includes prominent Democrats who operate a child sex trafficking ring.

“Nothing will stop us,” Babbitt tweeted Jan. 5. “They can try and try and try but the storm is here and it is descending upon DC in less than 24 hours....dark to light!”

Among Q followers, “The Storm” refers to the predicted day Trump would finally unmask the pedophile cabal, arrest and execute those deemed traitors and restore America to greatness.

And the favorite Twitter monkey of some posters here, the legendary Jack Posobiec of Pizzagate fame. You know, where the child sex slaves were held in the basement of a pizza join? The one that actually didn't even have a basement? (from his wikipedia page)

Posobiec has promoted many falsehoods,[34] leading to Philadelphia calling him the "King of Fake News" in 2017.[23] He was one of the most prominent promoters on social media of the Pizzagate conspiracy theory, which falsely claimed that high-ranking officials were involved in a child-sex ring centered at a Washington, D.C., pizzeria.[23][19] He live-streamed an investigation of the pizzeria and was asked to leave after attempting to broadcast a child's birthday party being held in a back room.[65] Posobiec later said he had always thought the Pizzagate theory was "stupid" and had filmed his visit to debunk it.[23]

Posobiec attempted to discredit anti-Trump protesters in November 2016 by planting a sign at a protest reading "Rape Melania".[66][67][68] Posobiec denied his involvement to BuzzFeed News, but the same phone number was used in his contact with the website and the text messages he reportedly sent.

2:20Trump’s ‘lies’ fuelled Jan. 6 riot, special counsel Jack Smith says

Those he raged against included Mike Pence, his otherwise loyal vice-president who Trump, according to the indictment, accusing of being “too honest” for not going along with a scheme to obstruct the certification of President Joe Biden’s victory on Jan. 6, 2021 — a scheme Trump’s own co-conspirators admitted was not lawful, the indictment alleges.

Prosecutors working for special counsel Jack Smith detailed several other allegations against not just Trump but also six unnamed co-conspirators, who are quoted at length allegedly shrugging off suggestions their actions will lead to violent protests and doubling down on false claims of election fraud,

“Exonerated?” Chansley was sentenced to 41 months in prison - and he served that time.  The “video” you reference was laughed out of court by the judge when Chansley tried to withdraw his guilty plea:

“These videos are decidedly not exculpatory.  Such footage, conveniently omitted by the [Fox News] program, shows nearly all of Mr. Chansley’s actions that day, including: carrying a six-foot-long pole armed with a spearhead, unlawfully entering the Capitol through a broken door, disobeying orders from law enforcement on more than a half-dozen occasions, screaming obscenities, entering the Senate chamber, climbing onto the Senate dais, sitting in the Vice President’s chair, and leaving a threatening message for the Vice President. That law enforcement officers outnumbered by the quantity of rioters did not physically engage Mr. Chansley or impede his progress is irrelevant.”

The theory seems to be that Chansley wasn't beaten or shot, hence his entry was authorized.

Of course if you've already broken in and then you proceed to try to break through an interior door into the Speaker's office, and are shot and killed when confronted by law enforcement, you were murdered.

Such is the logic of the January 6 apologists.

This part from the commie judge is particularly rich:

That law enforcement officers outnumbered by the quantity of rioters did not physically engage Mr. Chansley or impede his progress is irrelevant.”

Impede his progress? Irrelevant.

How about law enforcement officers  escorting him inside the friggin Senate chamber? How "irrelevant" is that?

***** off with impeding progress.

Or the NINE "outnumbered officers"  who allowed Chansley, by himself, to walk right past them inside?

Useful.

Idiots.

Why is all of this so hard for you to understand?  Just being IN the Capitol during a government proceeding without authorization is a crime.  It doesn’t matter if a Capitol police officer invites you in because he’s afraid of getting stomped by a larger, incoming mob,  or any other reason.  They had no legal right to be inside - period.

Try to educate yourself about why  hundreds of people were arrested because of their actions on 1/6 - and don’t forget their ringleader - Trump.

I think he’s a politician who navigates the bumpy and tumultuous  road between his values and what he needs to do to stay relevant in the political landscape.

Be that as it may, he did the right thing at the right time, and for that, he should be commended.

Do you believe, after all these indictments of Trump, that Hillary Clinton should not have faced indictments as well?

Do you believe, after Jack Smith files indictments alleging “disregarding the truth”, that Adam Schiff should get off with no repercussions, when he - along with former Intel officials - knowingly pushed a false story (Intel officials again with the Biden laptop story) to take down a President and/or affect an election?

The real issue here, for a lot of America, is the selective (partisan) application of justice. I didn't vote for Trump either time and certainly won't be in 2024. But this banana republic shyt is the worst thing that has happened in my lifetime in DC politics. It's disgusting and history will look down on the Biden and the Dem party more than it does on Trump, and that is saying a lot.

Agreed.  Trump certainly didn’t do himself any favors, and in knowing they wanted to come after him, seemed to do everything in his power to ensure they would.  Mainly due to his brazen incompetence.

However, to see Biden lie about his involvement in his sons foreign business dealings, to see Adam Schiff mislead the public for years, to see Intel officials lie in order to affect an election, to see social media companies pressured to censor content that could affect an election, to see Hillary Clinton do much of the same stuff Trump has done - both with documents and election denial - and then see this ultra-aggressive attempt to take down one man for sins committed by many is Black Mirror territory …. And I don’t know how we come back from this.
