Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?

We drafted a WR in the later part of the draft for 3 consecutive seasons... That's not the answer, we need a bonafide WR on a cost controlled contract, that can be better than Gabe Davis and in 4 or 5 years possibly surplant Diggs.

It sure seems to be trending that way.... I like many others don't understand the lack of real investment to the Offense. I understand bringing in camp bodies and competition but nobody we brought in this FA are viewed as difference makers IMO.

Maybe they'll pick up some top O players in rounds #1 and #2...

I’d put a paycheck on then drafting defense in Rd1. It’s their thing. Plus it’s where they see significant holes right now.

we’re completely wasting Joshs prime years. At some point it’s going to be too late. Personally, I fear that at the end of his contract he will be done here. I really hope not. Would be nice to watch him play more than 1 season in the stadium that he built.

Even though we were advised to not expect it before free agency started, I think the arms race in the AFC East has all of us expecting the big "splash" acquisition and if we do not get it, I do believe TBD will implode.  There is no sugar coating it; this has been the most frustrating off-season the Beane/Mcdermott era so far.  We have been teased by multiple big names and none have panned out for us.

We need to give Allen another legitimate weapon on offense because it is not a stretch to predict the Jets, Dolphins and Pats could ALL have Top 10 defenses next season (Jets & Pats already do and  Dolphins have the talent ).   If it isn't DHop, it has to be SOMEONE better than Davis.  And for the record, I would give up a 2nd for Dhop in a heartbeat.  I don't know why everyone gets so stuck on these defined values for draft picks.    Hopkins gives us a MUCH better chance to WIN NOW than a late 2nd rounder will at least 90% of the time.  And isn't "winning" the only thing that matters at the end of the day?    Who cares if we are giving up a late 2nd instead of a late 3rd if the guy makes our passing game much harder to defend and puts us back over the top in a division where you've got at LEAST 2 teams with top tier DBs on paper.   In other words, we need a pair of top tier WRs to match.

Mcdermott &  Beane tell us "we don't want Allen to run as much anymore".   Okay, so then, help Allen help himself if you want that to change.

The folks who are against it point not so much to draft compensation as the long-term implications of acquiring his enormous contract. The Cardinals are trading him (if they are) to get rid of it, and so are not inclined apparently to absorb much of his salary. There are also those who point to his age and recent injury history and wonder how much availability you are actually looking at as well as the possibility his production may drop significantly considering his age. None of those concerns are irrational. I am still on the side of gambling on DHop if a reasonable deal can be made. The newbie AZ GM may not be willing to play ball.

Brandon Beane doesn’t care about winning next season. Last year he went all in and failed. This year, our division rivals are going all in and we’re making marginal improvements. I’m usually a very positive poster, but the whole world can see that the Bills need improved at the WR position and Beane shuffled the deck chairs on a sinking ship. And this year’s draft doesn’t have a star at WR. I don’t see a positive outcome here.

Yes, the general manager of an NFL team doesn't care about winning and is happy to put his feet up and let it all burn.

I'm frustrated too but come on.

I agree. He's probably got his legs up on his desk eating a can of Pringles every day. McDermott walked in to him last week and said "hey, how about calling the Cardinals about Hopkins?" Beane said "who? I never heard of him. But here, can you take this $2 and run down to the vending machine and get me a Twix? I'm reading a good article about fixing the siding on my house right now".

Get rid of him

I often agree with you. I like your fundamental optimism, but I do not believe that most of those with more negative views believe we are not good. I think the consensus is we are not good enough, which is different. There is concern that the draft will largely be devoted to the D and needed upgrades on offense are going to be confined to later draft picks and the modest, albeit possibly astute signings we already know about.

When I said many, I didn't mean majority.  When I mean not good, I don't mean non playoff.  Not good as in not true contenders but we still are.

When Von comes back, I expect our DL to be very good again.  It's disappointing that we under perform when he's out but when he's in, he makes a significant difference.  That changes everything, along with I don't expect 3/4 of our secondary out for more than 50% of the year.

But yeah we need help at WR.  I would like another RT but we'll see.

We are still up there with the Bengals and Chiefs.

I do think Hopkins is getting traded this offseason. I do think the Cardinals price is gonna come down. And I don't think the list is very long. So I still think we have good odds to make this happen. The reports about the Falcons, Raiders and Patriots don't make any sense. Not saying that they aren't interested but now that Hopkins has been given permission from the Cardinals to talk contract with other teams, I can't see Dhop wanting anything to do with those teams. In the end I think it does come down to us and KC. So we will see

everyone recognizes that we are good as long as Allen plays at a high level

what people are asking is when is “good” not going to be the standard… at what point should we expect a Super Bowl from beane and Sean. When

Every Super Bowl contending team are as good as their franchise QB.

We expect a Super Bowl now and we are contenders.

I 100% agree with this. As long as 17 is manning the helm we have a legit shot.

Josh Allen gives us an advantage over teams without franchise QBs.

He does not give us an advantage over Patrick Mahomes or Joe Burrow.

He does not give us an advantage over Aaron Rodgers, if he returns to 2020-2021 form.

If Tua stays healthy and takes another step in his development, he does not give us a significant advantage over him either.

In the NFC, having someone like Allen would put us in the Super Bowl conversation without question.  In the AFC East, it's going to come down to the supporting roster.  And in my opinion, the Bills are slipping further behind with each passing week.
