I understand bringing in camp bodies and competition but nobody we brought in this FA are viewed as difference makers IMO. Maybe they'll pick up some top O players in rounds #1 and #2... I’d put a paycheck on then drafting defense in Rd1. It’s their thing. Plus it’s where they see significant holes right now. we’re completely wasting Joshs prime years. At some point it’s going to be too late. Personally, I fear that at the end of his contract he will be done here. I really hope not. There is no sugar coating it; this has been the most frustrating off-season the Beane/Mcdermott era so far. We have been teased by multiple big names and none have panned out for us. We need to give Allen another legitimate weapon on offense because it is not a stretch to predict the Jets, Dolphins and Pats could ALL have Top 10 defenses next season (Jets & Pats already do and Dolphins have the talent ). If it isn't DHop, it has to be SOMEONE better than Davis. And for the record, I would give up a 2nd for Dhop in a heartbeat. I don't know why everyone gets so stuck on these defined values for draft picks. Hopkins gives us a MUCH better chance to WIN NOW than a late 2nd rounder will at least 90% of the time. And isn't "winning" the only thing that matters at the end of the day? Who cares if we are giving up a late 2nd instead of a late 3rd if the guy makes our passing game much harder to defend and puts us back over the top in a division where you've got at LEAST 2 teams with top tier DBs on paper. In other words, we need a pair of top tier WRs to match. Mcdermott & Beane tell us "we don't want Allen to run as much anymore". The folks who are against it point not so much to draft compensation as the long-term implications of acquiring his enormous contract. The Cardinals are trading him (if they are) to get rid of it, and so are not inclined apparently to absorb much of his salary. There are also those who point to his age and recent injury history and wonder how much availability you are actually looking at as well as the possibility his production may drop significantly considering his age. None of those concerns are irrational. I am still on the side of gambling on DHop if a reasonable deal can be made. This year, our division rivals are going all in and we’re making marginal improvements. I’m usually a very positive poster, but the whole world can see that the Bills need improved at the WR position and Beane shuffled the deck chairs on a sinking ship. McDermott walked in to him last week and said "hey, how about calling the Cardinals about Hopkins?" Beane said "who? I never heard of him. But here, can you take this $2 and run down to the vending machine and get me a Twix? I'm reading a good article about fixing the siding on my house right now". When Von comes back, I expect our DL to be very good again. It's disappointing that we under perform when he's out but when he's in, he makes a significant difference. That changes everything, along with I don't expect 3/4 of our secondary out for more than 50% of the year. But yeah we need help at WR. I would like another RT but we'll see. And I don't think the list is very long. So I still think we have good odds to make this happen. The reports about the Falcons, Raiders and Patriots don't make any sense. Not saying that they aren't interested but now that Hopkins has been given permission from the Cardinals to talk contract with other teams, I can't see Dhop wanting anything to do with those teams. When Josh Allen gives us an advantage over teams without franchise QBs. He does not give us an advantage over Patrick Mahomes or Joe Burrow. He does not give us an advantage over Aaron Rodgers, if he returns to 2020-2021 form. If Tua stays healthy and takes another step in his development, he does not give us a significant advantage over him either. In the NFC, having someone like Allen would put us in the Super Bowl conversation without question. In the AFC East, it's going to come down to the supporting roster.
