he did have one punt blocked last season against Utah State, not sure why it doesn’t show up in his stats at this site. It’s not completely his fault, ie. the 3-step punt the other poster brought up, consider the snap was high. (He had a rough day that game and had a FG blocked too)

Not last season.

Special talent for a specialist and viewed as top-100 pick by some NFL teams. Multiple 80-plus yards punts during 2021 season and also kicks field goals (converted 53-yarder in '21). Didn't have a single punt or kick blocked. Can kick off as well. Ran in the 4.7s at the combine and is an additional player on the coverage team because of his speed and athleticism.

He had 2 punts blocked vs. Utah St. last season.  Here is video of the second one.

to be fair, the first one was a partial block and the ball still travelled 27 yards (forward)

This is my concern.  This is a huge issue.  He doesn’t have to hold.  But someone else has to.  And it’s unusual not to have the punter do it.

Back up qb should do it, opens up possibilities…

Watching his zoom.

I love this kid!

Smart and well spoken.  Has taken the time to learn how to hold from former NFL pro kickers.  Also has taken the time to practice directional kicking.  Cool.

Yeah the high and short snap caused him to jump forward which put him closer to the blockers.  I haven't see the first block to know what happened there.

This is what Matt's going to have to work on:

Important to know how the stats were compiled.

Total # of punts and field position would be very important.  A lot of what they showed by Araiza were punts from the wrong side of the field.  Makes sense when punting from your 10 to kick the heck out of the ball.  Your 40?  Different kind of kick.

Love the kid, hope he is here for many years to come!!

to be fair, at the start of this conversation he hadn't any punts blocked at all.

Well if the Bills somehow end up playing Utah State...

Me too. But now considered inefficient use of practice time.

I kinda get that now but I can't see cutting this punter if he can't be a good holder

and forget to block an Utah State player again……

here is the first “blocked” punt though officially it’s recorded as a 27 yard punt. I don’t think 3-step punt has anything to do with this play.

Neither does the 2nd.  Unblocked rusher and high/short snap.
