Jets game more crucial than I thought

Playing with the online playoff calculators, it seems there are several scenarios where, even if the Bills beat the Falcons, if they lose their final game to the Jets, they are 100% going to miss the playoffs.

Of course a number of other things must happen for that to occur, but they are not impossible. The Ravens and Chargers have to win both of their remaining games. and the Patriots have to beat the Dolphins. The Colts, Bengals, and Patriots need to at least split their last two, but as long as the Patriots beat the Dolphins, if the Bills lose to the Jets they are out.

Stop playing with yourself😁

It should be “forty year’s”

Put the crack pipe and scenario machine down and take a chill pill.

The Falcons and Jets are respectively 31st and 32nd in defensive DVOA. I expect dominating wins.

I feel like a more simple way to say this is that as long as the Bills win one of their two remaining games, there's a 97% chance they make the playoffs, according to fivethirtyeight.com playoff caluclator.

So yes, technically they could miss the playoffs if they lose one of the next two. It would, however, be extremely statistically unlikely.

10-7 is the new 9-7. Some years it’s good enough, most years it’s not.

How can you possibly know this? This is the first year of 17 game season.  They also now allow a third wild card team in playoffs.  The Bears got in at 8-8 last year, the first year of 3 WC teams per conference.

The Ravens might not win another game...they are just decimated right now.

Of course it’s crucial. Your in a tie for first place so any loss by the Bills and a win by NE takes you out of first place. Both teams hold their playoff destiny in their own hands.

Re title your thread, the Jets Games MAY be crucial .  You have a bunch if scenarios that COULD happen to make it "100% certain" the Bills miss the playoff.  IMO, the odds of all these things happening is  very remote.

Perhaps because you wrote if the Bills beat Atlanta but lose to the Jets, "they are 100% going to miss the playoffs."  But, of course, that original declaratory sentence is completely wrong.  If they beat Atlanta and lose to the Jets, there is only about a 10% chance they will not make the playoffs because of the conditions precedent you explain after the initial 100% declaration.  Not the clearest prose.

The phrase you quote is preceded by "there are several scenarios where ...", which makes the phrase you quote conditional.

It's really classic for you to misquote me and then tell me I'm completely wrong. Don't be an ass.

Is Jackson back yet? If not then I think the Rams definitely beat the Ravens. Without Wentz the Raiders chances improved against the Colts. As for the Chargers they should win over the Broncos at home, but as we saw with them last week nothing is certain. The Bills should handle business at home against the Falcons.

I am not trying to be difficult, but you challenged the reading skills of people on this board, and all I am pointing out is that your writing is not clear.  I understand what you are trying to say, but given your prose and the title of the topic, I am merely suggesting you were less than clear.  No big deal.  Sorry if I was being a jerk.

Apology accepted. Peace.

Depends on what the other teams do.  You deserve to make the playoffs when you make them.

I think they clinch a playoff spot this weekend. But they will still need that Jets game for the division. No way the Pats are losing to the Jags at home.

I have forgotten more math than you have ever known. I have a ***** degree in physics, troll.

So what you meant to say was if the Bills beat the Falcons and lose to the Jets, there's a 100% chance that there's at most a 3% chance of the Bills missing the playoffs?
