On one hand Allen needs to clean up the interceptions, on the other hand his most incredible throws come on the same plays that the interceptions do. I guess it comes down to understanding the game you're in. When winning against a vastly inferior opponent we don't need a miracle TD pass back across your body to Diggs, so just throw that one away. It's a tougher balance than it seems though.

Hard to clean up interceptions on tipped balls - my complaints are twofold - not taking a little off throws at time and still trying to make the hero pass when throwing it away is the better option.

Did I see right? Allen has at least 40 TD's for the 2nd year in a row?  Not bad. Maybe the negative Nancy's ought to take a hike.

The thread title is right - too Jekyl and Hyde. The best QB in the league at his best but far too inconsistent. His passing today was horrendous; three INTs at home to the Falcons and regressing back to forcing the ball rather than taking what the defense gave him, which is what he seemed to finally adapt to in the second half vs the Bucs and the following week against the Pats.

He was great on the ground today but franchises do not sign a RB for $258m. His heart and toughness got us pass what was a poor team but a performance like that in the Play Offs and we're out. A performance like the second half at the Bucs or at the Pats? Then we have a chance of the Super Bowl.

Literally the most overrated player in all sports. I hate Josh Allen. He doesn’t deserve to be the NVP let alone the MVP.

I’m going to put him down at every chance I get because I have absolutely unrealistic expectations!!!!!!

Did I do it right?

If you were trying to make a ridiculous strawman, then yes.

It’s been a crazy year.

Allen was doing everything right in this game until he wasn’t. His athelitic ability alone helped get us a W but those INTs helped to make the game much closer than it should have been. After the first quarter it was looking like Allen was on his way to a 4 or 5 TD game and he actually would be a legitimate candidate.

Now I’m thinking Joe Burrow maybe? Could be a really strange year where 4-5 guys all get like 4 or 5+ votes.

I could care less about the MVP all that matters is that the Bills made the playoffs for the 3rd year in a row, got to 10 wins for the 3rd year in a row and are on the cusp of winning the East for the 2nd year in a row.  As someone who lived through the 18 year playoff drought, which was marked by inconsistent and mostly horrific QB performances year in and year out, Allen has been the best thing to happen to the Bills.

Sure Allen was inconsistent in his passing today but weather was a big factor in this.  And for the record he was not "horrific".  He made some outstanding throws converting 3rd down.  Stats don't always paint a true picture - particularly QB stats.

Franchises sign QB's to 258 million dollar contracts to do what it takes to win football games. Sometimes that means throwing for 350 yards and 4 TD's.  Other times it means rushing for 80 yards and 2 TD's while executing the read option running game at a high level.  Allen has proven over & over again that he can do both.  This is why he's an elite level QB worth EVERY dime of his 258 million dollar contract.

And for the record, Lamar Jackson is about to get a very similar contract and his game relies on the run more then the pass. Even the best QB's can have bad stretches in a game and Allen had one. But elite QB's bounce back and lead their team to victory.  Allen had two long, time consuming TD drives that erased a 15 - 14  deficit and put the Bulls up 29 - 15.  There is nothing "horrific" about that.

His first INT was a bad play. He was trying to force the pass and was tipped into the hands of another defender...He instead could have run it and got 5-6 yards out of the play.

His second INT was simply a timing route that misfired.  Beasley was jammed (very late in the route) and the ball had already left Josh's hands.  Can't do much about it.

The third INT was also a timing route that did not materialize.

Today ti almost felt like Josh was destined have a bad game...The first 2-3 drives had so many drops....Diggs missing that easy TD.

Overall a poor game for passing...but the guy was all guts to get hammered on all those runs.

Thanks for replying rather than simply reacting.

I guess a huge positive today, reading your post and thinking about it, is Josh and Daboll adapted the game (admittedly, they were given a chance to adapt) to pull clear. I think, previously, Josh would have become glazed over, started panicking, forced the ball more, and possibly falling apart completely after the three INTs. Today, there was a reset and we were able to pull away. The existence of a running game helped with this but Josh was a massive part of that too.

Just thought about this (maybe they said it during the game & I missed it), but did Allen's streak of no turnovers in the redzone end today?

No it was his second INT in the red zone.  I forgot which game was the first but it also happened this year.

Diggs missing that easy TD? You mean the one Josh fired at him 100 mph?

It was just as fast as the TD pass to Diggs last week. There were a few drops in the 1st quarter, I'm sure the cold made it harder than usual to catch Allen's heaters. But yes if it hits you right in your hands you have to catch it.

And the Bills ran the read option and audibled into the run side at the LOS so even when not carrying the ball Alan did his best impersonation of Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore running game during those last 3 drives.  If the Bills face another terrible weather game they may want to try this right from the get go.

Josh had a ***** day through the air but he willed the team to victory as usual.

I get your point, But the ball hit him in the hands; gloves with the tackiest of material.  Maybe catch the ball!  He’s caught plenty of Allen’s heaters.

This is what I'd love to see - the learning and adaption. Considering what happened at home to the Pats, and then the subsequent amendments from the second half against the Bucs through the trip to Foxboro, it seemed odd that our offense in the first half seemed be going away from what had worked before. I get it's important to switch things up and become unpredictable but, in turn, we harmed ourselves. Second half, with more use of the run game, worked much better.

Oh, that's a bummer! I must've missed that :(

Ah well, it was a good run & still impressive. Thanks for the response.
