The left lost any possibility of this, and any rational appeal to the underlying philosophy, when it refused to unite behind this President.

Coming from the left, all this sentiment now means is that if you don’t do what they want they will continue to riot.

Exactly this. The left is essentially putting a gun to the nation’s head while thumbing through Alinsky’s rules with the other hand.

If I may rephrase - I didn't expect the left to unite behind a POTUS from the opposite party, which never really happened on either side (except national emergencies).   But in nearly every case before, the opposition waited until the next election to balance out the scales.  The main difference to me this time was a quasi rebellion from day one.

Well, yes, except that the quasi rebellion was also a sanctioned covert coup attempt by the party in power to subvert the incoming President because opposition party. Call it what you like, totalitarian, banana republic, community organizer spite, it was immensely more corrupt than anything related to the hapless Nixon administration, derived from endemic partisan disdain for law or the well-being of the putative republic at the highest institutional levels. And yet, that sanctimonious ass Obama continues to lecture and brow beat, chastise and condemn traditional Americans and the actually competent President who replaced him because the virtual monopoly of leftist dim that dominates mainstream and social media, academe, and Hollywood guarantee that if you have a D after your name you are never going to be held accountable or subject to any degree of rational scrutiny for hypocrisy, criminal behavior, or the slander of people you just don't like.

Sour grapes, The Trump gang flew too close to the sun and is crashing and burning. This should make a fun story going forward as he faces the law

There is no one out there that can or will unite this country, short of Christ coming back, but even then the left is mostly Anti- Christian. So in my opinion, this country will stay divided, no matter what

When Christ comes back most Americans’ flesh will be feasted on by the birds of the air.  This is the supper of the great God.

I always find it curious when leftists intentionally choose to mock Christians. It literally carries no value except, where the leftist is concerned, in hopes of shaking the sinner in each person to respond in a non-Christ like manner so they can yell "Aha! Some Christian you are!"

It's grade-school rhetoric, which is probably why the left is so good at it.

Nonetheless, @TakeYouToTasker is correct. The left will never, ever do anything that doesn't divide people into groups that they can pit against each other in order to paint the picture that only the left can save you now. I don't anticipate unity in my lifetime. You can only imagine how quickly the left would turn on a GOP president if 9/11 happened today. Bodies would still be jumping from buildings while the left would yell that THIS is why we need open borders.

Lastly, I am not one to suggest we are in the last days, but Timothy 3:1-5 seems pretty interesting based on the way the left has gripped the large cities:

Quote

3 1  You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2  For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3  They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4  They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5  They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!
