Some people may not know that he had a close call on 9/11. He was catching a flight from Boston to LA and partied a lot the bight before. He got up a little late and arrived at the gate while it was taxiing down the runway. That plane was one of those that hit the WTC. He was waiting for the next flight at the airport bar when he saw it on the news.

She was written off of the second show, even though the audience loved her, because the male lead thought she was too young to play his love interest. Interesting that her Wikipedia page just mentions that she asked to be released from the contract on 'The Andy Griffith Show'. No mention of Griffith having any opinion or influence regarding the decision. Wikipedia, as well as the trivia section at IMDb can be rather subjective; I suppose only a few know the entire story.

Yeah, Wiki is usually decent but does leave things out or is in a constant update mode due to new information. I will give them this though, they usually have a lot of it right... enough to give you a decent amount of information as to the topic that was searched.
