Gase upset Darnold’s “seeing ghosts” being aired.

Really?

0) Ordinary fans and media aren't clued in that it's fairly common football sideline lingo 'we got him seeing ghosts' 'you're seeing ghosts, look at what's there'

1) It's a phrase custom made for memes, especially around Halloween

2) Sam had a Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad game, and the news that he said he was "seeing ghosts" elevated it to a "next level" of seeming ineptitude

3) per @Buffalo716 here, it's just not something a QB should say during a game except perhaps privately to his coach - which in fact may have been the context in which Sam said it.

4) Gase is PO'd because of 3) and because mic'd up is not supposed to air stuff that would embarass the player, which this undoubtedly is

HTH

not news, way over blown, Darnold was not terrified out there, he made a on the fly comment of what he was seeing on the field. Some of you guys just love that fake drama.

This entire saga points out how ignorant the media, fans, and even some defensive players like Kyle Van Noy can be about a totally innocuous phrase used by QBs and coaches for years. If the Jest hadn’t been blown out or had Darnold not had such a poor outing otherwise, it wouldn’t be as magnified.

God forbid the media and the hordes of wannabe bloggers that comprise so much of it nowadays wouldn’t have something to sensationalize.

It’s funny...cuz the lingo is pretty standard and Leslie Frazier even used it in his press conference on Monday (before the Jets/pats game). “Seeing ghosts” isn’t vernacular unique to Darnold.

Speaking of which,  the Bills has Brady seeing ghosts when we played them this year. He was throwing that ball away as quickly as he could, sometimes before the pressure even got there.

Why in the world would anyone on the Jets want a mic to be on Darnold.............. AGAINST THE PATS, for Pete's sake?

This wouldn't be an issue if the morons who run the Jets let Darnold wear a mic.

Nothing good could have come from it, and, Golly Gee, that's what happened.

True, but kudos to people who have explained it over the past 48 hours and mostly rendered it a non-story.

True, the Jest erred in allowing it. But that doesn’t excuse the rampant ignorance that ensued.
