You're assuming another team will claim him for their active 53??    The questions you yourself ask likely would also scare other teams away too from active 53.  Would other team like him o n their PS, sure, but why would be sign for another teams PS and not Buffalo?  Often guys will sign with another team because they feel they were shafted, don't sense that about him if he were to be cut.

And if he signed for any other PS he has no protection. They can drop him. The Bills and only the Bills get an extra PS spot for him.

My worry is a bottom feeder who know they will suck this year signs him for the 53. Maybe Arizona or Miami or Washington.

That' where I am too.  2 weeks ago completely agreed too with what mags stated, now not so sure.  There's an entire thread on it, but that still leaves some question.  Buffalo rumblings agrees with mrags.

We shall see soon as doubt any team would sign him to their 53 unless decimated by injuries.

So yeah. BuffaloRumblings doesn’t have that factored in if he can be signed to another teams practice squad. Don’t even mention it. To me, that proves that he cannot because it’s not even an option. But maybe it wasn’t known, or was an oversight in the article.

but yeah, I don’t believe any other team will sign him to their 53. But the teams short on RBs do scare me. Between injuries, and holdouts, there’s a few out there.

Yeah maybe he leads Dallas to a SB win in Elliott's place!!  LOL

I think Lee Smith stays on roster in Dimarco's spot. Knox, Sweeney, Croom at TE

I think we might see Croom get the broom.  If Knox is back for game 4 they put Kroft on PUP and keep Smith, Knox and Sweeney for now and use extra spot for OL, WR or TE.  Then make a roster move when Kroft comes off PUP.  Usually there is an injury in first few weeks that will effect one of those position groups.

Pretty much this. If this IS true and he can be picked up by another team through waivers, he would have to be on their 53 and that just doesn’t seem like it’s happening. PS, sure, I bet a dozen or so teams would want him on their PS but that cannot happen. IF the rule is true and he can only sign with another team or he’s on our PS I expect him to be on our PS. Maybe, just maybe, there’s a team out there with a RB... OR Holdout... that would want to sign him.

Dallas

LA

or anyone else that gets an injury late in preseason.

No Kroft?

Smith ain’t making this roster. Period.

Smith has $4m guaranteed.

And if that happens, so be it, but there's no way he should be taking up a spot on the Bills' 53 at this point in time.

Deon Lacey - The battle for the depth positions at linebacker is suddenly the fight that is taking my eye. Your three starters are locked in, Corey Thompson's ability to play all three spots likely gives him a leg up on a backup spot and Julian Stanford as a "specialist" middle linebacker might be nudging ahead of the rest too. That means Mo Alexander (a special teams ace), Vosean Joseph (their 5th round draft pick) and Deon Lacey are likely battling for one spot. Lacey was impressive on Friday, flashing in both the run and pass games. Would the Bills really cut a guy they took in round 5 at the end of his first camp? Lacey is at least going to make them consider that question.

Not sure Stanford will be around when cuts are made.  Perhaps practice squad.

Didn’t catch it all. But apparently they talked about Wades options today on WGR. He gets the 11th PS squad spot if they want to. They can try their shot to clear him through waivers and use him for one if the 10, if he clears. I think that means that if they want him him for the 11th spot there’s nothing another team can do about it.

in the 1000 different interpretations of this

Once he clears waivers and he's designated the 11th  no other team can pry him away from the PS in 2019

so I have come to believe

Not eligible as active roster with Bills all last year and previously with jets

Other than those four players, eligibility is limited to players who have been on an active roster for fewer than six games, or were on a 46-man active gameday roster for fewer than nine games. A player is allowed on the practice squad for up to two years, with one year counting as six weeks in a season

He Doesn’t have to clear waivers to be the 11th. If they want him for one of the 10, it holds true

as @freddyjj posted in his previous link here’s a paragraph that breaks it down:

“So what will happen to Wade? There has been some confusion about the options for the Bills, the rest of the NFL and for Wade himself. He's part of the league's International Pathway program and so the rules for him and other potential NFL players are different. Like every other player on the roster now, Wade can be kept on the Bills 53 man final cutdown roster on Labor Day weekend.

He can also be released. He can also be claimed by another NFL team and signed to their 53 man roster. If he clears waivers, the Bills (or any other team) can sign him to their practice squad. The difference for the Bills is that because he was originally on their roster through the program, they get an extra spot on the practice squad reserved just for him. But if he is in that 11th spot, he is ineligible to be on the active roster for 2019.”

Read that too. I really doubt he makes any teams 53 unless very short due to injuries, so he can sign with any team to their practice squad.  Unless he feels the Bills shafted him, would probably be in his best interest to sign with Buffalo as with the extra spot/exemption, it's highly unlikely Buffalo would cut him.  So he's pretty much guaranteed a paycheck and more important a spot all season here.  Likely he makes our PS.
