Canada is getting crazy

Up here in Canada we like to look at the crazy shh you Americans do and pretend like we're not crazy too.. But some lunacy has been happening up here. I might have to move further north!!

First we had those two kids playing real life Grand Theft Auto, killing 3 people, stealing cars and evading police and even the Canadian Army(which is probably 3 guys on a Canoe).

Now some gamer kid killed his whole family and posted the pics on a gaming forum, because he didn't want them to be ashamed of him since he's been skipping University. WTF

I mean, 2 crimes sensationalized in Fox News links across an entire country, aint exactly that huge.

I'd say the bigger Canadian news is Chase Bank getting kicked out and any Canadian with a Chase credit card having their current balance completely forgiven!

I hope some of you had some big balances that are going away!

I've literally never met anyone here that banks with Chase. I've only seen a handful of locations. We have some Banking GIANTS up here that actually own many American banks. They took over after the banking disaster you guys had.

Also, I've been in the credit and collections industry for 15 years now. I will GUARANTEE the debts will not be forgiven. They will likely be purchased by a bank up here. Probably TD.

I'm reading posts all over reddit today by Canadians who received their debt forgiveness letters today. Some $500, some $1500, some $5000...

Chase is forgiving debt, cutting their loses, and getting out of town in order to avoid a major lawsuit. It's easier for them to forgive that debt than try to get the money.

The major question is no one is sure how the forgiveness might affect taxes.

I'd imagine it would be counted as income, no?

Hmmm I'm seeing it too, but no reliable sources. Mostly people online. I hope it's true but I still don't believe it. Like I said they can simply sell it to another bank or debt buyer like the company I work for and move on .. I'd like to know what they report to the credit bureau.

The more I think about it. I think they have likely sold it already and that's why it has been "forgiven". These people will likely receive a letter from their new creditor soon.

I live in the Chicago burbs, but I work with a few people who live near the high crime areas. The way that they discuss it suggests to me that they have become desensitized to it.

You know last time it was this bad in Chicago?  Prohibition.  Just be thankful it doesn't spread out onto Michigan Avenue.  Last time 90 years, that happened, it led to gun control at the federal level.

Be careful what you wish for.

Exactly.  It's NOT spilling on the Mag Mile, "good" parts of town.  Very localized.  Not in the burbs... Etc...

Like be careful what people wish for, when it does spread and get truly random... The bee will be in the bonnet and We will all get stung.  It happened before in 1920s/30s... Then 60 years later they started laxing up gun control in other jurisdictions.  Weapons have no borders.

I know. Ever been to the Green Mill? It was Capone's bar at one time. The trap door is still behind the bar! There is a piano player who takes requests at the bar. I once requested "What I'd say" and the whole house went nuts!

By the Chi Harbor Lock... That was Al's Cave.  A bee line right into city with bootlegging. There is a hidden dock there where the Feds would hide.

Once the violence spread... The gun control came.

What do you think the answer should be?  Wild west?  We are no where near that.  If it happens, the whole country will face ramifications.

Much different times now.  The violence is kept isolated in the impoverished parts of town.  Should we allow them to be legally armed or go in with martial law?

Gang related violence, inner racial conflicts, poverty, oppression...some of the themes.

Create a police state? How would that work? It would probably compound the situation further.

They were about to get hit with a HUGE lawsuit for anti-consumer practices.

They did not sell the debt, as any attempt to profit from it would also trigger the lawsuit. None of the communications from Chase say they are moving/selling the debt. They all only say that the debts have been wiped and take it as a gift.

Basically, they decided it was cheaper to wipe the debts than to deal with/settle the lawsuit.

When the construction crew drove the piling accidentally  through the river wall during the early 1990s (1991?)... The water flooded a lot of the service tunnels and basements of skyscrapers.  They at the harbor controlling works were full closed  Us, 20 miles away were running 40 feet of dam... Full open... To attempt to just keep the shipping canal deep enough.

Sorry to stray from OTopic.  But there is a Lake & River cruise.  Air & Boat show is coming up... Outside of Seattle, they are processing the most vessels... 3 days of Air & Boat, they will process 5,000 individual vessels.  Gets pretty crazy, crowded.

I really should make peace with @BringBackFergy & @Cripple Creek and score them some cruise tickets!

But anyway... To stay on topic. Hard NOT to say the U.S. craziness is spilling into Canada. It's spilling everywhere through out the world.

Things like this happen and then they give a bad name to computer games or "gamers".

But when some whack job goes postal and kills 3 co-workers with a sharpened pencil to the throat, it doesn't seem to give a bad name to pencils.

Gaming isn't the problem.  Your crazy ass kid is the problem.

Wooo... Not so fast!  Is there a game out there that people play 24/7 that uses pencils to stab out jugular veins?

We might think different about pencils.

These gamers are sitting behind a virtual first person shooter world for hours on end.  I can see where reality and virtual reality can get blurred.

They don't call YouTubers "influencers" for nothing.

Really bad example you used.  Apples and oranges.

Lake tour, river or both?

Incredible the Lake is now 5 higher than it was 10 years ago.

A foot higher than when I started in 1991.

That's because you keep effing with the flow!  #GodComplex

Huh?

Do you even know how things work? It's high. If we are effing with the flow, it should get lower, lower, and lower. We don't put water back... We take, take, take!  Millions of gallons per minutes!

Anyway... Do you know how big and deep Lake Michigan?  The the river openings are like trying to drink the ocean with a straw.

Now... I will give you dredging the mouth of Lake Huron  (basically one lake with L.Michigan, they are same elevation) below the bedrock north of Detroit.... But again, that should make Huron-Michigan drain FASTER and hence Lakes get LOWER. AND the water added INTO Lake Superior in Canada via the Arctic is tightly controlled into Huron-Michigan @ The Soo.  That's all set international. If anything... They would draw us down over a year or so.  Create a stranglehold.

Illinois is drinking the inland "sea" through a straw! We ain't doing shi... Drop in the bucket.

If Mother Nature ran unabated... There would be no divide, species would freely go back and forth uncontested.  You'd cry about that.

/smh... Hate to say, but don't be an idiot even if you are trolling!

Nobody is being punished here.  Sh... Rolls down hill.  We are having a blast. It's just high.  It would have to go a lot higher... And anyway... We just send it away... All areas of the Lake.

If not controlled God would then punish.

It's actually pretty cool looking right now! Got long way to go before we "punish ourselves."

Yeah, that's the question no one is sure of the answer to yet.

Still, I'd rather pay the taxes on $10k than have to pay off the full $10k debt.

Yeah but in the Soviet Socialist Republic of Canada wouldn’t the taxes on $10K of income be $11K?

Increase of craziness is due to population increase/pressure and easy access to media resulting in more "Look at me acts.".  I think elimination of low level jobs contributes.

Yes Jerry Jones says things like that so anyone cheering against Dallass Cowpokes is disrespecting God.
