I remember taking swimming lessons in the morning and having days where no one wanted to get in the water cause it was cold. Now it seems to be little rain with stretches of extreme heat. Although this spring/summer started off cool this year. It wasn't until late June that anyone I know was swimming outside and had pools open. Father's Day was cool enough to wear pants and a light jacket. It seems that there's a less gradual change in the temperature now, we seem change temperatures and seasons much quicker. As a young adult I'd go camping in the 1,000 Islands anywhere from Clayton up to Alex Bay (and beyond) annually. Typical weather was rain and mid 50's on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. We had a big family reunion in the Adirondacks. We rented a group of condos in the same area for a week in late July and people came from all over the country. It's not only more frequent, but the volume of rain that falls in a storm seems to be more substantial. For years, you had to worry about drought killing lawn and crops. Some of the people from my wife’s office (umm, the one’s with the most money) have places there and go up almost every weekend in the summer. It’s almost 6:00pm here and it’s 89 degrees, feels like 94. I like heat, but I just looked at the Highlands 10 day forecast, lows in the 50’s and highs in the low 70’s. It does have a certain appeal! I don’t hate on people with money, because I’d like to be one....a cool one....some day. We can pick a weekend here or there to rent a place and pretend.
