Marvel also made royalties on merch and every project involving his name. When he dropped "Hulk" and started going by "Hollywood" Hogan in '96, he was able to avoid paying the fees. It's because they are incredibly hard to hack. The computers are essentially air-gapped and the old IBM computers are reliable. They could run for another 40 years with spare parts. It is not only those systems which use them. When I was working DoD I'd find many old machines being used with them with agencies having no interest to in replacing them. One tech showed me a closet of replacement machines and said when one broke they would replace it with another and just have someone fix the old one and put it back in stack. Redd and the son went on to other projects, leaving Grady and Aunt Esther to work it with new cast members.
