Not just that throw, look at the last throw of the game Allen is getting so much criticism for. He threw that football nearly 70 yards in the air AFTER running all over the field to find a throw.

And yeah, it was about 70 yards... maybe 66 to be exact.

Ball released on the 40 yard line reaches the end zone but he's throwing across the field.

Look up the dimensions of a football field for yourself and you'll discover the distance horizontally from where Allen threw it to where Clay couldn't catch it was somewhere around 23-26 yards I'd say.

40+23/26= 63/66 yards.

Clay should have come back to the ball a bit. Too bad. Allen's special.

Missing a wide open receiver and throwing a touchdown in the garbage can is not "impressive."

You realize that a throw of that distance is very low percentage unless you throw a wounded duck which everyone has a chance to get under.... right?

There are only a few QBs in the league that could have gotten in the position to make that throw. And you're right. It went 60 something yards while he was still rolling left. He didn't even really stop and set and throw. It was ridiculous.

I had a crush on Allen after Jags game. I walked away from this game in love.

With that my ONE issue of concern I have isnt even an accuracy or "he missed this one throw!". The 3rd and 11 drop/missedPI/HellOfanEffortByZay has a part that many people I feel are missing which is my "***** Josh" moment. He had I think McKenzie just under neath Zay and he was very open, had 2-3 steps on his man. I feel like it's going to be a love/hate relationship with a lot of Bills fans and overall I am fine with it, but Allen has the idea of "big play first." It's why he doesnt do many RB dump off check-downs (shouldn't we be happy after watching Edwards, EJ, and Tyrod all check it down immediately?). He will wait and take a chance that the big home run play will develop, or take the harder throw than the easier throw if it means 10 more yards on the completion. Most of the time its refreshing and I love it... but in that game situation, he needs to hit McKenzie who probably gets a first down, or at least gets it real close.

Josh missed Foster early on what would have been maybe a 30 yarder. Foster made a really nice play and very nearly broke it on the final drive. I really thought they should have thrown a few more deep balls to him just to make the Dolphins think it can happen on any play. He should always be playing because he's the only one that gets open deep and he's consistent at it. The combination of having a guy able to run fly patterns and beat you combined with Allen able to scramble for 135 yards on pass plays (I don't recall one called run except for the short yardage sneak) is a LETHAL combination and very hard to defend without leaving huge chunks of the field open for other receivers.

pythagoras says it is only about a 45-47 yard throw.

If the ball is in the air 60 yards, and he misses by at most a foot, that’s not too bad.

There is room for improvement and I’m confident they will hone his throws, then work on making passes effective and uninterceptible

Exactly, that’s a long throw and narrow miss. Some guys throw it 40 or 45 in the air and miss by that much. 65 or so yards is a long distance. He can get those dialed in.

Oh but what a throw like that does is keep 8 people from filling the box. Josh Allen today sent a message loud and clear that teams will no longer be able to stack the box. And now teams may have to put 2 spies on him considering his off the chart mobility.  The throw to Foster was like nothing I've ever seen from any qb, let alone a Bill qb. We all know the areas that need improving. But I don't think any of us realized what this kid is capable of.
