Google manages search results, not data.  Most likely he was removed from somewhere else, and search results just reflect that.

Well, he's been scrubbed by Wikipedia, who now states:

Because Patrick Moore was among the crew of the first protest voyage and the beginning of the journey is often referred as the birthday of Greenpeace, Moore also considers himself one of the founders. Greenpeace used to list Moore among "founders and first members"but has later stated that while Moore was a significant early member, he was not among the founders of Greenpeace in 1970.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenpeace#Founders_and_founding_time_of_Greenpeace

It also cites a Greenpeace Founders article (revised on 3-12-2019) that simply refers to Moore as being on the boat.

Google isn't scrubbing him from history, his own organization is.

Edit:

Oh, I should point out that not only was he just a guy on the boat, but he's the enemy:

Quote

Patrick Moore, a paid spokesman for the nuclear industry, the logging industry, and genetic engineering industry, frequently cites a long-ago affiliation with Greenpeace to gain legitimacy in the media.

Yep.  I figured somebody retconned him out of Wikipedia and Google picked it up (just because those search results across the top always look like Wikipedia links).  But really didn't care enough to dig in to it.

Reminder: Wikipedia is not a primary source.  Or secondary source.  Or any kind of source.  Any halfwit can change it, and the editors believe it's only true if it can be sourced on the internet.

Since it is a carousel that is Google picking the images.

Carousel images "could" come from a list in a specific post (and the newest SEO tactic to try and claim the carousel for a search term AND get the images into that carousel), however, I checked the SERP and the first 3 for "founder Greenpeace" are all wiki - with no individual image list.  Again, even if it came from one individual post (which it isn't in this case) Google is choosing the carousel images.

#4 is the dailycaller
#5 greenpeace   (no individual images, he is still listed)
#6 climate depot
#7 tweet
#8 tweet
#9 snopes
#10 foxnews video

Of these, #4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 all have to do with his being removed from the search carousel. He is not back in the carousel with these updated search engine results. My guess (as I cannot know) is Google manually removed him.

To further give you an idea of what Google does with images... ever see the zero result at the top of a Google search result? You will see it in a box, and there will be a blurb + a link + an image. Google frequently sets an image that does NOT match that blurb and url (pissing people off who click based on that image).

there is talk that Google, along with YouTube is altering their algos again. i don't know how true it is but they are saying that they are filtering out alt perspectives.

Google does tweaks to its algorithm daily. Larger updates may be announced (in the rearview).  Mozsearch engine land,  the google webmasters central (what Google is willing to share), etc. Many of the seo tools or larger services keep track and share in a list or blog post.

As far as filtering out a right or conservative perspective on a mass scale... wouldn't surprise me. The EAT update last fall cut out a LOT of websites, posts, etc that were related to health and well being by "non- experts". And how were those "non-experts" decided? Well, Google decided who wasn't an expert.  And acted unilaterally (there is no appeal).

It would not surprise me to see an alternative point of view from "Google's" biases to be banished from their SERP.  People might want to get well acquainted with duckduckgo
