Midterm Election Gameday Thread

I didn't really think Menedez was in danger until this morning.

Everything I'm hearing is he's in BIG trouble... but the fog of war right now is thicker than ever. Take every report with a grain of salt.

What I worry about is that MSM outlets will report "outcomes" that aren't the actual outcomes in some instances to delegitimize actual results, and throw everything into a tailspin.  It won't matter what happens afterwards.

It's possible.

If the races are as close as being reported (in battleground spots where the Ds had +5 going in), a lot of them could be decided by a point or less. That means recounts, and the possibility the House remains in flux for a few days - if not a week as it's all sorted.

It could get messy.

Ok, have not yet read this thread (I'm almost afraid to)... from my little corner of Erie County...

Hubby and I went to the polling place at 10 am. We were numbered in the 220s. I overhead people saying that there was a line at the door when they arrived for duty at 6 am. There was definitely a line when we arrived, a line while we filled out our circles and a line as we walked out. Average voting age? I'd guess about 95. ?

I asked Hubby how his first voting experience was. He basically said that it was fine, he wished he knew more about the candidates, but he was so pissed at the stupidity the Ds were pulling he voted straight R.

Trump sent out a tweet endorsing Hugins an hour or two ago. The likely reason for it is internal numbers are showing NJ is in play (hence the late endorsement). Stories from the ground in NJ are reporting massive red turnout aimed at unseating (the literal crook) Menedez.

GBD probably should post this one... but:

Yeah, as I mentioned upthread the polls are TIGHT in NJ.

People in my neck of the woods HATE menendez.

So who knows?

Right. Wait for the (totally expected) flip of the House for the parade of NPCs to flood in here with their puffed up bravado.

They’re currently cowered in fetal positions though, consumed by fears they won’t get a chance to come here and pontificate on how righteous they are. It’s so predictable.

Yup. Everyone is being polite (by PPP standards) and helpful to all so far.

Might change when results start coming in... or maybe it'll be a kumbaya moment for PPP.

A man can dream.

And it still won't be as embarrassingly ridiculous than going over to TBD and suggesting you're okay with the Pegulas sticking with McBeane to prove themselves through next year.

Those nutbags are insane.

What did I say about listening to exit polls or early reports?

Now add "anonymous sources" telling ABC news this information.

And you get (likely) fake news/suppression news.

Wait for the results before believing any of this kind of stuff, no matter if it's good or bad for your chosen side.

Actual turnout numbers (not results)

Question is how many are sticking to their affiliations.

In 2016 the first place I saw a Trump sign out in the open was in St John's county (over the bridge heading into St Augustine from our beach condo). St. Augustine may be artsy-fartsy, but it is pretty old, retired, and red.

Heading up to Duval is pretty rural/suburban-ish (even in Jacksonville, which is geographically enormous).   Ponte Vedra is wealthy.  I never saw a D sign there.  Ever.

Lordy, is she smoking! In case you don't know( but I am sure I have brought it up 1000X), her place about a block and half away from ours in DC. I always run by her house in my short shorts hoping the advertisement pays off and she invites me in!

BTW, I just voted about 3:40..in and out in less than 3 minutes. I have no idea why, but we have 4 polling places within a mile of each other..makes no sense. I vote in a church, and directly across the street is an elementary school that is also a polling place..weird.

Wife was handing out Spanberger stuff at another polling place today that skewed, let's say, a little older. Said the handicapped spaces were always filled with a line wiating to take the spots. She was laughing at how all the old folks were making fun of her supporting the Dems..almost all good natured..said when you get older you will wise up! Hah, we both in our mid 50'S!!!
