Tom Hanks playing Mr. Rogers

Not sure.  Trying to visualize the storyline and plot of the movie.  I mean they can't just show the one apartment room and him changing his shoes for two hours.

Well... He does go to "The Neighborhood of Make-Believe",  has speedy deliveries, and visits violin makers and paper mills.

The real Mr. Rogers was a pretty normal, decent guy, right?

Like he wasn't a pedophile or drug addict or anything.

So I will probably not see it.  Not sure there's much of a movie there.

I like Tom Hanks. Would you prefer he play Pee Wee Herman?

I like Tom Hanks too, it's just that I think he gets too many real-life roles.

His performance as Walt Disney was weird. Not the first person I would have picked for that role, or for this.

Yet for some reason, Felicity Jones has been cast to play Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

I agree about Hanks.  Great actor of course but doesn't look like a Mr. Rogers.

You know who I think would have been a great choice?

Benedict Cumberbatch

Just based on looks alone?

In that case, it should've been Anne Hathaway

I rather dislike Tom Hanks!

I didn't know there was the documentary that Chevy Van Miller mentioned.

I'd be much more interested in watching that than a Hollywood semi-fictional account of his life.

In fact, I'll make it a point to see the documentary based on CVM's recommendation.

I love good documentaries.

He would have been a good choice. That picture of Tom Hanks as Rogers is not that good. Tom Hanks is a fine actor but there are some roles that he gets that I don't understand.

While we're on the subject of actors taking on real life roles, here's what we have to look forward to before the end of the year is over.

Felicity Jones as Ruth Bader Ginsburg in "On the Basis of Sex".

Felicity Jones in On the Basis of Sex (2018)

Hugh Jackman as Gary Hart in "The Front Runner".

Hugh Jackman in The Front Runner (2018)

How about this one, Christian Bale as Dick Cheney in "Vice".

Christian Bale in Vice (2018)

And Amy Adams is Lynne Cheney

OMG Bale is Cheney.  That's incredible how close he looks like him.

She looks like a combo of Lynne and Kate McKinnon.

Hmmm, interesting analysis.

All 3 of these come out before the year is over. Obviously targeting Oscar. I'm very interested in seeing how these movies turn out.

Very intrigued to see Jackman as Gary Hart.

The documentary is wonderful. He was a brilliant man that tackled subjects like racism, assassination and the threat of nuclear war head-on with grace and dignity.

Tom getting ready to be the naive and earnest man he plays the same in every role?

Definitely.  If you put Jimmy Dugan in place or Forrest Gump, the movie would have been exactly the same.

You know who else doesn’t have much range? Gary Oldman.  He always plays a male.

Sad culture when that becomes negative and not revered.

The world is full of sharks that eat up the wholesome and good.  It's like Pottersville in "It's a Wonderful Life." One step closer to the dystopian end game.

I want some range in an actor, but he is too commercial to change the formula, better performances are all over the place with less fanfare
