Would this regime survive a trade up miss at QB?

Recommended Posts

A miss would mostly likely leave us out of the playoffs for a few years as the QB is given every opportunity. It seems crazy to think a GM/HC who have shown very positive things early could just as easily be on the hot seat two or three years from now with a miss. Overblowing it or do you agree?

The same could be said if they stand pat and miss out on good QB’s or don’t take one at all.

Life of a GM/HC in the NFL.....you better get it right under center.

Always has been always will be.

Now, get it right. There are no excuses.

We got into the playoffs, even with Tyrod. I think it depends on how bad the QB is, and how good everything else is. The entire picture will be judged, but certainly the QB position will be a big piece of the puzzle.

It's possible they could. Too many variables to know for certain this early. The surprise playoff berth all but guarantees them 3 more seasons. The price they pay to move up will factor in , as it will affect their ability to strengthen other areas. It may seem crazy, but it's really the nature of the business. You only get so many strikes before changes are made.

No, they will not survive.  If the Bills happen to be bad next year then they won't be able to take another QB and if the other QB's in this and next years draft do well then the GM will definitely be criticized.

Im thinking they are the point now that they HAVE to either trade up or hit on a 1st round qb at one of their picks......to do nothing would probably put them in danger.

People need to understand.....there will be qbs with potential outside the top 3 guys......and it is possible that something happens that makes a trade up not possible.

When you accumulate the draft capital that Beane has the only thing that makes a trade not happen is his unwillingness to part with picks.

You dont know that

Other teams can part with future picks......or the teams at their picks could simply decide they want a qb or want a player at their pick

Its the draft.....there is no certainty of anything

Wealth. Gets you what you want but might make you pay more than the average Joe. That's the seat Beane put himself in and if we are speaking truthfully he looks all too comfy. Expect a trade up with the Giants.

That's an oversimplification. If you mean unwillingness to part with all of their picks then yes. Even an unwilling trade down partner could probably be convinced to accept 4 first rounders and all of this years 2s and 3s. And Beane wouldn't be willing to offer that.

Your setting yourself up for thinking that there is only one outcome that is a win.

That is a bad thing to do when your talking about the draft

Not a chance this regime gets fired for 1 QB miss.  They already made it to the playoffs without a top 10 QB while shipping most of our top picks from recent years.  If they can continue to put competitive teams on the field with limited talent they'll be given the time they need to recover from any lost draft capital.
