Christmas is one of the worst days of the year for me. It is fun watching the kids open up the presents but after that it is living hell. Rush to church, then rush to my inlaws for brunch(I just seen them the night before & I can't stand my mother in law) then go home try to clean the house up & then go over to my wife's aunt's house where all her (dipsh*t cousins are where I see my mother in law once again. My parents for awhile now, Chrismat Eve they come & on Christmas just the two of them go to a nice steakhouse & then go to the Casino. One of these years I am telling my wife I am going to join them. She could go with the kids to her aunt's house & see all her loser idiot liberal cousins. Edited November 9, 2017 by Gordio
row_33
I got massive Christmas cheques from grandparents until i was 38, which made it all a lot more enjoyable. I miss it so much.... it made it all magical, like Bertha's cinnamon in Charlie's coffee.

apuszczalowski
Most stores here I was ready to burn down watching them discounting and taking down the Halloween stuff before the end of October just so they could get the Christmas items out. In my family, Christmas season didn't start until after your (American) thanksgiving until after the Ukrainian Christmas in Janauary. It seems like in the last few years it keeps getting sooner and sooner that they are pushing Christmas on everyone, I would assume next year they will be setting things up in July. My wife and her mom usually start decorating early November (her mom's tree would be up November 1st) ours a little later. It usually makes me dispise the holiday more.... The decorations them come down the day or 2 after christmas is over I'm not someone who really cares for Christmas, I don't like getting gifts since when I want or need something no will just get it myself, but have no issues getting others gifts. No one listens to me when I say I don't want anything and not to buy me anything, and then they get mad cause I don't give them ideas or tell them what I want. Just now, row_33 said: we've creeped up on a November boxing day as well to keep shoppers in Canada... Not sure what would convince me to go out into the swarms on Boxing Day or Black Friday. Yeah, a lot of the ads now advertise black Friday sales here in Canada to compete and keep people here. I have never had the urge to go out and get involved in it. We left our “forever house” behind in FL. We’d frequently have 50+ for events and could have easily held 2 to 3 times that. Spent thou$and$ and didn’t even get to talk to each person. It’s like your wedding - it’s gone in a flash. Now we try to stick to a dozen or so where we can all sit around one table together. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving tends to go into overload mode.
