I imagine they said what they said as responding to a call of gun shots fired, they were worried about guns being around and that any sudden movements and non cooperation may result in them shooting. Could they have said don't move or we may have to shoot you? Yes. What they said still had the same effect and at this point is just nit picking imo. I doubt they are trained to say that... They are public servants living off our tax dollars, they can do what they need to do to restrain people, but it seems like they are always excessively aggressive both physically and verbally. The person I heard it from told me that they were waiting to see if there was bodycam or cell phone footage anywhere so that it didnt seem like he was just making something up to further his protest. There was a study released some years ago, which I am now having trouble finding, which profiled law enforcement officers as having a strong authoritarian bent on average. My coworker mentioned that to me and I believed him, I'm guessing he misread it as well. That's my bad. Deleted the post. Still doubt the poster has ever had a police officer threaten to blow his head off and handcuff him until he felt numb but my fault completely for posting that. Almost every cop I have ever dealt with has been a total ass. They have attitude issues IMO. I don't see any excessive force or someone holding a gun to his head saying I'm going to blow your f'ing head off. It's no doubt traumatizing to be detained by police but they are just doing their job and it's not personal. Ive been detained and I'm the whitest guy on planet earth. They found out he wasn't the guy and let him go. Good luck with your lawsuit. I guess props to those who wouldn't, but my guess is most human beings would be scared $#!+less if put in that situation. Officers have no idea if the person they are arresting is innocent or not. They are responding to real threats in most cases, hence why compliance by civilians should be paramount. What you are asking is really a two fold question, but first I would like to say it is never cool when someone is shot and killed. Second if the person refused to cooperate and was moving etc. and was shot I would feel the police are well within their rights to do so.
