Azalin Posted August 29, 2017 Share Posted August 29, 2017 Say a fund where everyone pays a small, predefined amount into it on a regular basis according to the particular probability of future loss due to a given event happening within a given time frame, then have the fund pay out to the people in need once the risk becomes realized. If only we had a name for this practice where someone provides a guarantee of compensation for a specific loss in return for the payment of fixed amount determined by magnitude and probability of loss. I remember the right wing media fox/talk radio going nuts after Obama did something as trivial as wearing a tan suit to a press conference saying it wasn't presidential and a disgrace to the office. And it was record drought a couple of years ago...and weather was not climate. Still...when you put energy into a closed, oscillatory system (like...climate) you expect to see larger oscillations.
