We have a lot of draft picks. Remains to be seen if we'll use them correctly.

Hopefully they hit it out of the park, but assuming that just because we've got a lot of picks means things will get better isn't a very good bet.

They must really want to wash their hands of all things Whaley. The picks are enticing, but continuing the cycle of letting your best players go is disheartening. Hopefully Matthews and Gaines prove worthy of extensions rather than create more holes next offseason that we try to fill with rookies.

Our track record on drafting isn't exactly stellar.

Who were their best players that they "let go"?

With two first-round picks, two second-round picks, two third-round picks, and a fourth, fifth and seventh. We have nine draft picks, six of them in the first three rounds.

That's a nice supply of currency. so who do we draft, and who can we strike a nice deal with?

The Bills seem to be setting themselves up to go after a QB in the draft almost without regard to their record. While it seems unlikely that the Bills will break out of their perennial mediocrity this year and go anything above 8-8, they will be able to package picks together to move down in the draft if they somehow do so.

If reality strikes and they finish sub 8-8 they may not need to do too much packaging to get a QB.

The front office is making the right moves. They are even doing so without necessarily tanking the season totally.

Today it was Watkins and Darby. Darby was a top 10 CB as a Rookie and Sammy was undoubtedly our best WR.

What was Darby last season? They didn't "let go" of either of them. They actually got something for a player who was going to walk at the end of the season.

Even with the extra picks there is no certainty that they will be able to trade up for a QB. Both SF and the Jets will still likely draft ahead of them and neither of those teams would trade out so Buffalo could take the QB. The Bills will really have to bottom out and make sure that they lose both games to the Jets if they want a good QB prospect next year.

430 yards and 2 TD's last season. Will they miss this production? Sammy's been gone for 2 years already. Time to start talking about his production rather than his potential. Other WRs drafted in his class are way beyond the potential talk.

Picks are nice to have, yes, but we have done this before in various ways over the years. The picks aren't guaranteed to work out though either. We wouldn't pay Winfield. We did the same with Peters amd shipped him out. Clements got an insane amount of money at the time so you can't really fault them there. Yesterday it was the aforementioned. Darby did have a down year last year, but we have seen the potential to be great. Sammy was our top WR and is a potential superstar in this league. We got back a CB coming off of the same injury as Watkins who had a down year then a WR who has reportedly battled knee troubles and was 4th on the depth chart in Philly. Like I said picks are nice to have, but the two picks we got yesterday aren't locks to be as good as what we sent packing. Edited by H2o

Dude, if you think the only impediment to the Bills actually drafting a competent NFL QB in 2018 is the competition, you are living in Fantasy Land. The 2002, 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2013 drafts didn't produce a top QB, and the verdicts are still out on 2014-2017. Furthermore, in most drafts, there's at best, only 1 quality QB ... and not all of them were Top 3 or Top 5 picks. The only two drafts that have produced multiple HOF/likely HOF QBs since the merger were 1983 and 2004, which means there's a whole lot of both astute evaluation and luck involved in selecting the right collegiate QB to draft.

Now, maybe you have confidence in the Bills organization to pick the right QB, but not me. Nothing about the current regime suggests that they're any better than Ralph Wilson's incompetent bunch, particularly given that the owners have failed to significantly improve the Sabres during their tenure despite all their shuffling of GMs, coaches, and players. BTW, since the Polian era, the Bills drafting record has been simply horrendous, and not just at the QB position. They always pick the wrong guy. Consider that the Bills gave up their 2005 first round pick to draft JP Losman in 2004 ... and thus lost out on Aaron Rodgers in 2005 (who went #24 or #25) and they passed on Russell Wilson in 2012 for a WR who couldn't catch and then drafted EJ Manuel in 2013. Some of their other first round busts were even worse ... like Aaron Maybin.

they are trading up for a QB. they are collecting the needed ammo. now hopefully they might the right choice

They better hope that a team who doesn't need a QB finishes worse than teams that do. If teams like the Browns, 49ers and Jets finish with tops picks then they are not going to trade out of there is a potential franchise QB available. Your best bet is hoping that a team like the Bears has a top pick otherwise we'll be on the outside looking in all because this team thought it would be better to win 7 games than 2 or 3.

I think the 49ers already have their sights set on their guy and he has his sights set on them, Kirk Cousins. Kizer also may be the guy for the Browns. People loved to talk trash when I talked up Kizer because of the year he had in 2016 @ ND. I knew as a lifelong ND fan that Kizer has the skillset you look for, but it was Brian Kelly who tried to ruin him (hate that bastard, Brian Kelly). I had compared him to Donovan McNabb and I still stand by that. Our main competition for a QB is the Jets and Jags imo, but don't be surprised if AZ is looking to move up.
