Gin 'n Juice

That's one of my favorite covers ever but it's not Phish.

It's a pack of pickers called The Gourds

Dave Rawlings & Gillian Welch

Very nice but I like this one even better.

Grace Potter's voice is a great fit for a great song and she really gets after it once she's warmed up.....

The list begins and ends with Cream doing Crossroads.

Robert Johnson inspired so many famous musicians and gets little recognition in the "main steam".

I cannot limit myself to one best cover, so I will dig deep to pull up the obscure cover of The Band's "Chest Fever" by Government Mule just to bust some balls. :w00t:

Some of you guys are into music a heck of a lot more than me.

I do like music and I do like to turn the radio up loud for the songs I like.

I like train's new song play that song .

Looking at list that are the top 10 cover songs I do see some that I like.

Thanks for that link. The comments are interesting. It appears there is a connection with what you may be used to listening to and what you think is a good cover.

There is no way the Clash version of "I Fought the Law" is better than The Bobby Fuller Four. "I Fought the Law" is one of my most played songs. If I played it, I would play it from 3 to 10 times in a row. There are some songs I just can't get enough of when I hear them, and that is one of them.

I vaguely remember the Ramones "California Sun". I clicked on it to listen to it, especially since I really like the Riviera version, and I thought it sounded like something you might hear some group do to stick into a movie. Then I had to laugh as I read the write up and it said the Ramones used it in their movie "Rock and Roll High School."

I forget about this gem; one of the great covers of all time imo.

If you want to see more, check out "Nicki Bluhm van sessions"

Great musicians and a world class voice.

I'll add two songs that I think are really meant for a female voice, (although it is hard to beat the original of the first), and my favorite female voice at that. I think I posted these in the earlier thread that Jack couldn't find.

Dancing in the Dark
