The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency

Trump used the wiggle room strategy most narcissists I know do.  He said he would pay $1,000,000 if she were "an Indian".  He didn't say he would pay even if she had only one drop of Indian blood.  So he can wiggle out by saying she doesn't have enough to be classified as "an Indian."  I don't know that the one drop of XXX blood was ever applied to Indians like it was blacks.

Tennessee's "one drop" laws passed applied to all minorities...interestingly, VA's explicitly excluded Native Americans from the rule and specified that 1/16 or less Native American ancestry was officially "white."  Due to the number of VA founding fathers who had Powhatan ancestry somewhere in their family.  That was known as - and I am not making this up - the "Pocahantas Rule."

Trump's "wiggle room" strategy may be narcissistic, but it's entirely appropriate in this case.  Warren claimed to be Native American, and her own tests show that by any sane and rational standard she isn't.  Anyone who accepts Warren as "Native American" on the basis of this test owes Rachel Dolezal a mammoth apology.

Again...if you want to hammer her, go ahead. But come on, how many times do you have to be cheated and pull out every bit of mental gymnastics to justify why you're not.

It's honestly sad. It's like watching a senile retiree being conned by a psychic while his children desperately try to save him from losing the house.

So much irony here.

No, Trump is loud mouth idiot. So are you, though.

Will Trump pay that Million dollar bet?!?

Ya, as soon as Mexico pays for the wall!!

I think Trump should pay out the bet.

Warren is 1/1024th Native American.  So Trump should pay her $1000000/1024

And he should write that $976.57 check on behalf of Stormy Daniels GoFundMe page

Impossible, Trump donate anything to help women victims of violence? He'd probably send the money to the men.

But but who cares, Warren will make him a one term loser prez, so that's enough. He can hang out with Jimmy Carter then

The last few years, with readily available DNA tests, have further exposed the stupidity of categorizing individuals.  And yet morons like Warren, and countless others seem to have increased their desire to do so.

Pride in heritage certainly has a place, but if we lose individuality we are all screwed.

And from Time, no less.

“A DNA test is useless to determine tribal citizenship,” he said. “Current DNA tests do not even distinguish whether a person’s ancestors were indigenous to North or South America.”

He continued: “It makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, whose ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is proven. Sen. Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage.”

Cheers to the Cherokee Nation for standing up to this abuser and usurper of Native American heritage.

She's done as a candidate.

She may even be done in the Senate after this.

There's no way she can run against this.

If the news cycle wasn't proof of what you're saying, there's Gator's breathless endorsement of her odds of winning today that cements how ***** she actually is.

It's pretty difficult to overcome laughingstock status.

It's not only that she's a laughing stock, it's that she claimed membership of a marginalized community in order to afford herself privilege; making a mockery of that groups heritage in the process, and they have soundly rejected and rebuked her for it.

It will be impossible to put herself forward as a champion of those same marginalized communities, which is the entire Critical Theory platform the Democrats are using, now that she's been exposed as using them, very publicly, as nothing more than a stepping stone for her own advancement.

She won't be able to run on her record.  What she's done is indefensible.

Agreed. Hoping that it's the death blow to identity politics.

(it won't be, but here's to hoping)

This cements her as a candidate to resist. Resist the hatred and bigotry of Trump. Her identity is what she chooses and she has every right to gain access to benefits because of her identity, damn it!

That will carry her locally in Mass, I think, but it won't hold up nationally once the primary field really begins to take shape. Those types will flock to Harris who doesn't have to lie about her ethnic background to check those resist boxes.
