Team with the most cast offs in the Super Bowl???

Gabriel was cut by Cleveland and has excelled in Atlanta. Gabriel is everything the Bills wish Goodwin could be.

Some of this is timing and some is culture.

Some of it is opportunity as well. Gabriel is a nice complimentary piece for an offense. You can move him around and create mismatches for him by taking advantage of weaknesses in a defense caused by them trying to key in on other threats. Want to bring an extra guy into the box to shut down the double headed monster of Freeman and Coleman and still try and shade a safety over the top on Julio? That means there is going to be a hell of a lot of space elsewhere for Gabriel if you can get the ball in his hands close to the line of scrimmage and then let his speed exploit those spaces.

Part of his problem in Cleveland was there was nothing for the complimentary piece to compliment. Gabriel had a decent year in 2014 with over 600 yards receiving and then in 2015 teams started keying in on him as one of the things to take away. He is a perfect fit for what Atlanta want to do on offense. It was always part of my issue with the CJ Spiller pick in Buffalo (other than being a running back in the 1st). He was a guy you could use to exploit space when teams took other things away from you... but we didn't have a true #1 receiver (as much as I love Stevie) or a legitimate threat at tight end for example, to take defenders away and leave holes for Spiller to exploit. Those guys - and I include a Darren Sproles type in there and even Dion Lewis as well - are cherry on top pieces when you have a good offense.... they are not the building blocks of a good offense.

Falcons are Alex Mack, Taylor Gabriel, and on the Pats* Jabaal Sheard, Dion Lewis, Barkevious Mingo. On a side note Cleveland also traded away their draft slot with the Falcons and they moved up and grabbed Julio Jones a couple years ago. Boy they botched that one

Not to mention Kyle Shanahan was the Browns OC 2 years ago before they allowed him to leave while still under contract. Now he's one of the hottest coordinators (soon to be head coaches) in the game.

The Browns of 2014 weren't that far off, that was a true turning point for the franchise (and for the Raiders franchise). It was a loaded draft and somehow the Browns managed to take the two worst picks of the first round, not to mention following it up for a pretty awful 2015 draft as well.
