Might be your hard drive's death rattle. Don't shut it off. Get whatever files you want to keep copied now.

i do that anyway, but its brand new. i auto sync to my personal media server and have before people knew what those were. i'm somewhat high tech on all this stuff considering i still use a 32 inch tube tv which i can hook up to a USB and will soon have wifi ability to it...for the 3 hours of tv i might watch in a week.

Boyst not up on the newest tech... Solid state hard drives? I thought he mounts all the hot new items? :nana:

i back everything up on a 128 gig micro sd card, too.

GF says without it in front of her she can't help, and she wouldn't touch without rubber gloves. She's a card that one. She said call support and tell them what's up.

it's confounding. at best i can figure the laptop boots itself up during hibernation to go shut off or go in to double secret hibernation. when it does that it probably plays with the audio driver on boot or DSH.

i will eventually call tech support or just talk to the guy at the 7-11 who's brother works over there and can probably tell me what to do.

"You better go to that dude in my neighborhood who’ll fix anything for 40 dollars.”

IT GF says that sounds right. Good luck.

Mine is doing this too! What is it...air in the pipes? I've been teasing my bride telling her that she dropped a turd in there that is so big it's making the pipes cry

Boy if it isn't heroin addicts causing hydraulic shock... It's the water hammer coming from your commode.

You should just change your screen name to Johnny Hammerpipes.

It's the float valve. I've got Kohler toilets with the 3 1/4" canister "flapper". You have to take off the float valve cap, remove the rubber seal, clean it and flush out the valve.

Other tanks have different float valves which might require replacing the float unit. I did the whole process to all three toilets and after about an hour, I started hearing the same high pitched whine. WTF! Turns out it was a battery charger/air pump unit I had in the garage that had a severely drained battery. Once I put that puppy on charge peace and harmony were restored to my abode.

A fix for the other style of float valve: How to fix a whistling terlet!

Little known fact there, Johnny...that was the initial draft of Prince's hit song. "Why do we clog up the plumbing? This is what it sounds like...when pipes cry..."

Is it Windows 10? My wifes crashed and now goes into hibernation and could not come out of that state. We tried to reboot and new startup and it gives an error saying there is a damaged disk. We took it in and the tech guy said they are having a lot of that with Windows 10 update that was the last thing loaded. It apparently finds one fault in the disk, and instead of just using a different part or moving on, it stops and goes into stall mode. He said in previous versions and patches, the error would be ignored and life would go on. Our option is to get a new disk, new OS, and start from scratch. At least the tech guy saved off our files.

yep. Win10. Everything backs up all over the place. Google backs up non personal info - music and photos, some docs. Personal server gets it all. An do freequently attach my solid state to backup

I very much like how they call them apps. They're software programs.

A fix for the other style of float valve:

I looked up the model of my toilet and how to repair the float valve. Found a video, watched it, and after looking at the inner workings of my toilet decided I would have my Dad fix it when he comes to visit this Friday. He'll love doing it. It's one of those full flush for poo-half flush for pee toilets.

Seriously! Why me? I haven't pushed an old lady down for fun in years, and I rarely swear at small children anymore.

We got my 90 year old mother a touches toilet. No handle, you put your hand above the tank and it flushes. Started flushing by itself in the middle of the night. Then mysteriously as it started, it stopped and works fine again. This christmas we bought here one of those LED lights that hangs on the bowl and lights it in one of several different colors in the dark.
