Trump, Rex and the NFL

Recommended Posts

I like Donald Trump better than HC . I also am in a union . You can't paint everyone with a broad brush.

Same here - member of the CWA for 23 years, and not voting democrat.

Assuming that you return to the thread now that it's moved, let me ask this:

In lieu of supporting Trump, are you supporting a woman who laundered millions of foreign dollars to her personal 'foundation' to do favor for countries that support terrorist against the US? Do you support a woman who ran her entire time as SoS exclusively on an unsecure server?

Or do you believe that any human capable of independent thought in this country should not respect anyone who supports Hillary?

She's a liberal democrat, and everybody knows that as human beings, they're superior in every way to everyone else. So what if a couple classified emails accidentally slipped through a private server, that half the weapons intended for Libyan rebels fell into ISIS hands, or that access to the State Department was sold a time or two? Everyone does that - just ask Colin Powell.

No, I'm not . Perhaps not PC , but not racist.

I notice a lot of people, maybe even myself from time to time, claim to be striking a blow for sanity by taking the non-PC position when, in fact, what they're actually doing is hitting out with racist or misogynist remarks under cover of being non-PC. Changing out one word for a less charged word doesn't necessarily change the reality.

I can't - nevermind, only Trump supporters lie. Wow!

Just asking, not accusing. Sorry you're so sensitive.

I think you'll find racism and misogyny are found mostly in statements and actions, where PC is more about words and euphemisms. PC needs to go away, just as racism and misogyny do. Replace all of it with simple, common respect.

I'd rather have a president that might say a crazy thing or two - then one in Hillary that will most definitely make my kids life worse than mine was.

The presidency is an executive position. A good executive is known by the people he hires and surrounds himself with. One should look at Trump's VP and surrogates to see what the future of a Trump presidency would hold. So far it looks pretty promising.

On the other hand, look at who Hillary surrounds herself with. People who smash cellphones and arrange immunity deals.

Except that's the ENTIRE point of political correctness: altering reality by changing the common vocabulary.

It's kind of easy to just throw the "racist" tag on Trump. I mean, I'm sure he is but I do think it gets thrown around a little loosely and tends to come from people who aren't paying as close attention. As far as being a misogynist however? He may be the biggest misogynist I have ever seen in my entire life. I always thought feminism was kind of contrived and silly until this election. Just imagine if HRC had five kids with three husbands and was palling around at the Playgirl mansion, joking about how she had dated Playgirl models. Like really think about that for a second.

This argument would make sense until you throw Bill into the equation. That doesn't even include all the stuff Hilary did while Trump was dating models. She's the biggest threat to feminism since TrigglyPuff.

We talk and talk about racism and while our country becomes unraveled by it - we have terrorists threatening our existence. While we bicker internally over an idiot like Kaepernick - we are in grave risk of leaving our freedom vulnerable to people that absolutely hate us. We're just not smart enough as a country to see that racism will absolutely be our demise because we spend far too much time worrying about it.

There are still plenty of us who were around during the civil rights movement who understand that despite all the progress our society has made, it takes generations to make such sweeping changes, no matter how critical those changes may be. Racism isn't becoming more prevalent, it's being politicized, and people in power are baiting the citizenry, pitting people against each other. The people we risk losing our freedoms to are not external, they're the ones we voted into office.

I can't recall Trump making a single racist statement, but of course it depends upon what someone's standard for racism is. While I think he's made some bone-headed comments, I understand the underlying reasons he made them but I don't find them racist.

Well, since the word racist is a subjective term, it doesn't surprise me that many of those voting for Trump don't find his comments to be racist. On the other hand, for most of the general public, they disagree. I happen to be one of them, his comments were from my view, undeniably racist. We've gone over them time and time again and for the life of me, anyone who doesn't believe that lumping in all Mexicans or even if you take him at his word that illegal immigrants from Mexico crossing on over are rapists and drug dealers and he "supposes" some are good people as not being racist, I honestly don't know what to tell you. Other than you got your Trump blinders on.

That is a racist comment, there really is no other way to categorize it.

You know where I stand on Trump; however I don't find what he said to be racist at all.

Trump is an inarticulate buffoon, and doesn't speak well to his points at all.

Couldn't disagree more. He's absolutely correct that there are criminals coming over the border and with little to no resistance. He's correct about the drugs as well. His whole point is that it's a free for all at the border and that Americans are paying a price for that, crime being part of the price. He's correct that the mix of people entering the country don't adhere to the standards of our immigration system. He could have said it a lot better and in particular he should have said "most are good people". Even with what he said I don't find those comments racist at all. He's speaking on the subject and not on a race, but the messaging at that particular moment wasn't very good.

Like I said, it's a subjective term. Just as Justice Potter Stewart once said "It's like porn, you know it when you see it."

If it's subjective maybe you shouldn't declare that those that disagree with you have blinders on?

Because I'm sure you wouldn't want to paint your assumptions about people with a broad brush.

I understand, given what you've volunteered about your heritage, that this is an issue you find yourself very close to.

I also understand that I'm not likely to change your mind on this; but I will ask you to take a step back, and think about what he actually said, and his history of not actually being a racist.

He made a political point, after a wave of violent crimes being committed by illegal immigrants, and the drug war broiling along our southern border that were being ignored by major media outlets.

The percentage of undocumented women coming across our border who report being raped in staggering.

Trump attempted to speak to these issues; but because he is a complete moron, and an inarticulate boob, it comes across as Ozy fodder.

In fact, Trump is so dumb, and so inarticulate that I would actually prefer him to be a vocal racist, as that would be much less harmful to our country should he be elected.

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

He generalizes, he says that Mexico sends people with problems, with drugs, that they are rapists. He doesn't say some people are rapists, he paints a broad brush that encompasses all Mexicans that are sent by Mexico (whatever the hell that means). Then to top it all off, he "assumes" some are good people?

That is a racist/bigoted comment. Why? Because when he says "they are not sending you", he is implying that "you" are good, decent people. When he says that the people that Mexico are sending are rapists, he is saying that "you" are better than they are. That is racist. He is saying that "you" are superior to all these Mexicans that are being sent over. The only way anyone can rationally make the argument that it isn't racist is because he isn't talking in this instance about Latino's per se but rather Mexicans which technically is not solely a race based argument. But the point stands. It's an argument of superiority, unless of course you want to decode his words into something other than what he actually said.

I understand, given what you've volunteered about your heritage, that this is an issue you find yourself very close to.

Ok, but you are decoding his statements in what you believe he meant. If you take his words at face value, which I am because if you look at his entire body of work, it jives with this statement, he implied all Mexicans that are coming illegally. Mind you, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he meant illegal immigrants, which he didn't say.
