Instead of sitting out all year, Von Miller's best play could be to show up after Week 10

No surprise that Florio posts this type of stuff; he encourages it, even when no basis, to make better headlines.

Interesting how much smoother negotiations with both Dareus and Hughes went compared to Miller.

But Bills had loads of cap room..now they dont. Gilmore and Taylor might say not going as smooth.

NFL needs to get rid of franchise tag...cant think of another business where you screw your best employee .

I disagree. Outside of one stupid outburst from Taylor's agent, there hasnt been any negotiating through the media. You dont see the Bills leaking what the players have turned down. You don't see either player threatening a hold out, or posting stupid stuff on social media.

And the Franchise Tag is a concession given in the CBA so the players can get other benefits, it all evens out and is a pretty fair tool, imo.

True on the cap room thing. Lotta reasons negotiations can go smoothly, though. The big guaranteed dollars in recent, large contracts by the Bills probably helped a lot. Interestingly, the Broncos seem to have plenty of cap room. They don't have much right now (due in part to Von Miller's franchise tag), but at the moment they have the least committed cap space in the league for 2017. A worthwhile QB would eat up a lot of that and so would a long term Von Miller contract, but they've easily got room for both.

I'd disagree regarding companies screwing top employees though. It is pretty common in my experience.

Yup. You never know, but at this point there is no need to assume negotiations will get contentious - or that there'd be lasting issues even if they did. Taylor's agent is a concern in this regard, but it's a problem we'd be lucky to have because that would mean that Tyrod would have had a stellar 2016 season.

Yeah, both players have recently addressed it directly in the media (due to the media asking) and had very little to say, and it was all positive. Exactly how they should do it.

Everyone who has had anything to say has said the same thing as Florio. What are you talking about?

Maybe they should have gotten rid of union which negotiated the deal to get as high as percentage as possible? And plenty of businesses do that; in fact the NFLPA is a partner and they try to screw NFL all the time trying to get in court what they cannot get on bargaining table (again lame representatives looking for headlines).

Florio writes every article as if he was a member of NFLPA bargaining team.

In this case he is just repeating the obvious.

Anyway, douche move by Miller cropping out Elway in a picture.

It is another indicator that journalism is deteriorating. IF Florio is a journalist his job is to report the news.

He made his mark from running the blog from profootballtalk called "The Rumor Mill." The posts he writes are now under the heading, "Latest News and Rumors." I'm no big fan of his at all, but he is not a journalist reporting just the news, nor should he be thought of as one, nor held to that standard. He's a self-proclaimed rumorist.

Rumors are like a$$ holes - everybody's got one.

and by that standard you probably dont want to read florio.

as a place that compiles stories from local news, some rumors and occasional interpretation of situations/rules/etc.... its not that bad. but dont take it TOO serious (its just football "news" afterall)
