As the new Summer collections and fashions are in the stores its a great time for looting.  Why not look you're best this Summer?

Sarcasm aside, the loud and clear message in the aftermath of these incidents is the government refuses to perform the most basic function of the social contract between its citizens and the government. And that is to maintain civilized order.

I'll bet gun purchase and background check stats go through the roof during the second half of April when they're reported next month along with membership increases for militia groups.  Simple cause and effect.  People see these responses as a potential threat to their safety and respond to it.  And on another issue these rioting mobs provide gratuitous examples for the need of automatic weapons.

As local, state, and federal officials everywhere have demonstrated they have no desire or will to maintain some semblance of social order the message is clear to businesses and residents of these communities along with the rest of the country.  You're on your own and they are not fit to govern.

Very well said. The contract between the governing and the governed is breaking down all over the place. You know this to be true when BOTH sides are equally outraged by a single incident.

This does not make any sense. Used her fire arm thinking it was her taser? Ok

That’s why it’s a mistake. An unacceptable one, but errors do occur. Did you watch the video and listen to the audio? It’s pretty clear what happened. Do you think she’s lying about what happened?

What incident are both sides outraged about?

Due process is no more in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota

by Andrea Widburg

On Sunday, a Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, police officer, while trying to taser Daunte Wright, who was violently resisting arrest, shot him instead. Within hours, the Minneapolis suburb, which is almost 30% black was threatening the police, rioting, and looting. That’s barely a headline nowadays. What was more interesting and, to born-and-raised American citizens, more disturbing, was the fact that, when Brooklyn Center’s city manager insisted that the police officer still gets the benefit of due process, the City Council promptly fired him.

This was the single most disturbing thing to me about the whole incident, after the obligatory rioting and the media activism during the police presser.

I obviously disagree with the rioting but this cop must be held liable with jail time based on the info I have seen. It might be manslaughter but her actions are why that guy is dead and her mistake is unacceptable, as a law enforcement you can't make a mistake of which weapon you are pulling.

So you mean she must receive due process?

Let’s not forget the individual decided to resist arrest while he was being cuffed. His actions led to her taking action. Did you watch the video with audio. Seems pretty clear her intent was to tase the suspect. Of course she should not continue as a Police officer and will probably be liable in a civil sense, but I don’t think she should be charged criminally.

Yes, it needs to go through the process but I am hoping this does not qualify for immunity. I am willing to change my mind if new info comes out but it seems straight forward.

Immunity from what? I don’t see criminal intent here but I don’t think she would be indemnified from civil penalty.

She could be. That was my first impression. Not going to simply take her at her word, but see that it is investigated.

If that is what happened there needs to be some better way to make sure they absolutly know which weapon they are using.

If they go by previous incidents, the cop is probably looking at involuntary manslaughter charges at minimum.  Here's one comparable one.

WHAT ARE SOME OTHER CASES?

In one of most well-known cases, a transit officer responding to a fight at a train station in Oakland, California, killed 22-year-old Oscar Grant in 2009. The officer, Johannes Mehserle, testified at trial that, fearing Grant had a weapon, he reached for his stun gun but mistakenly pulled his .40-caliber handgun instead. Grant was shot as he lay face down. Mehserle was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to two years in prison. His department paid $2.8 million to Grant’s daughter and her mother.

Huh...it's like Rashida, Tibs and Billstime are the same person.

No more incarceration.  So let the Capitol insurrections go she is saying?  Let all the rapists and murders run free?  No police she says?  Its easy to shoot your mouth off like that when you're hiding behind thousands of armed National Guard soldiers in the Capitol surrounded by a fence with sharpshooters and personal security details.  But when you have to directly deal with this crap its a different perspective.

What people like this mentally ill hose bag don't say is Dwight Wright was the subject of a traffic stop by police, had an outstanding warrant, refused to comply with requests from police, and continued to ignore the instructions from the cops, went back to his car for some reason unknown to them, and tried to drive away.  Shooting victim?  Yes.  Innocent shooting victim?  No.   He did everything wrong here and no more excuses for stupidity.  Anybody with half a brain and no street attitude would have walked away alive from that.  Reality.

I’d be willing to consider un-policed zones as long as those calling for un-policed zones commit to live and work there and only there.

What if the government was to cede the state of say, Minnesota as the exclusive such zone? Anyone who identifies as “ un-policed” can live there and only there. Kind of a huge experiment in “ social justice”. The rest of us can then get on with our lives.

Could be. I mean, it was in California so certainly could happen in a place like Minny.
