Friday Mock Draft Day!

Just to be clear with those unfamiliar with this player Jarran Reed:

He recorded 1 sack in 15 games in 2015.

For a career total of 2 sacks in 29 games.

Stats don't tell the whole story but......no stats? :flirt:

I wasn't implying that you were for drafting for this years needs.......I was just discussing draft approach in response to your post.

I saw in another thread a fan on TSW wants to trade next years first round pick for extra top 60 picks this year so that the Bills can patch defensive holes.

The only defensive player that I would trade up for this year would be Myles Jack. I think he's special.

I don't remember a guy in recent memory that can play classic MLB-type run defense on one play, and then stick with his man stride-for-stride while playing slot corner on the next. That's a guy you simply can't find every year.

As to Reed, I like him because I think he carries value beyond that of a 2-gap player. He can 2-gap, which I like and believe this team needs, but he's versatile and quick. He reminds me a bit of Sheldon Richardson in that he hasn't blossomed as a pass rusher, but his lateral quickness and strength make me believe that he can.

I do agree that I wouldn't take a plain space-eater at 19 overall.

I'd much prefer to get a guy like Spence or Darron Lee.

That is my evaluation of him as well.

I like that draft. Boyd and Watkins would be a fantastic 1-2 combo. Still not entirely sold on Ragland at #19, but don't dislike it either. Rounds 3-5 are fantastic later round picks that would really make this a terrific class!

I like the idea of a guy named Scooby.

Here is my try today:

19: R1P19
DT SHELDON RANKINS (necessary DL help with a versatile guy who can play DE or DT).
LOUISVILLE
49: R2P18
OT JASON SPRIGGS (OL help. Guy that is well-suited to Roman's blocking style).
INDIANA
80: R3P17
OLB JORDAN JENKINS (all-around OLB).
GEORGIA
118: R4P19
WR STERLING SHEPARD (great #2 WR)
OKLAHOMA
156: R5P17
S SEAN DAVIS (can't believe he was still here. Guy can cover and hit.)
MARYLAND
195: R6P17
OLB JOE SCHOBERT (can't believe he was here either. A bit "undersized", but can make plays all over).
WISCONSIN

I like the idea of a guy named Scooby.

I love it. He should just go by "Scooby" and have that on the back of his jersey!

Used CBS' board this time, and--as always--ignored guys that I felt had no practical chance at being there:

YOUR PICKS
1: R1P19
OLB DARRON LEE
OHIO STATE
WILL LB that can do everything on the interior
2: R2P18
OLB KYLER FACKRELL
UTAH STATE
Edge defender that can pressure the QB and complement Jerry Hughes
3: R3P17
S JUSTIN SIMMONS
BOSTON COLLEGE
Rangy safety with ideal size and playmaking ability
4: R4P19
DT D.J. READER
CLEMSON
Perfect fit as a 0-technique--can take snaps as a rookie
5: R5P17
WR GERONIMO ALLISON
ILLINOIS
Big boundary target that can be a red zone threat
6: R6P17
QB BRANDON DOUGHTY
WESTERN KENTUCKY
Developmental prospect with upside

I like this one on skill position alone and again the player choice.

Evans without the hands. Outside of that memorable drop, he had good hands.

i have also heard Kenny Stills comparisons, but his hands actually scare me. The Bills, with the few times they throw, can't afford to throw to a guy who has a catch percentage like that.

A team that throws a lot can afford to put him out there for his speed and big play potential but the Bills need someone with a high catch percentage. May need to give up some speed for that. Problem is the lack of WR speed in this draft. Thank god we have Sammy.
