Should we draft a developmental QB late round? If so who?

I say yes...

And I say it should be Brandon Bridge. From what I've seen and read he has elite physical tools but is very raw at this point. Looks like he has the potential to develop into a Kaepernick kind of player.. which obviously would be good for a Greg Roman offense. If we can get him in RD 6 or 7 and let him sit and learn the next few years he could be a gem. If not.. no big loss.

Check out this writeup ...

What does everyone think? Is there a developmental QB on your radar we should know about?

Brandon Bridge – South Alabama

- Live arm with lots of velocity; prototype size

- Very good athlete with ability to escape the pocket; dual-threat on zone-read

- Shows good touch on deep throws, unfortunately his WRs drop everything

- Keeps eyes downfield when scrambling

- Has compact, bent-arm release that needs to be tweaked, but not re-built

- Ball comes out quickly on timing routes

- Throws well while on the move

- Needs to protect the football better when scrambling

- Tries to force the ball into coverage; gets locked on #1 too often

- No seriously, this kid has a howitzer, and he looks like he thinks he can make any throw on earth

- Struggles in the red zone when things get clogged up—may be more due to a lack of quality targets

- Got tunnel-vision in the Miss St game—just way too much on his shoulders against a top 5 team

It’s not often that I find myself excited at the prospect of spending a 5th round pick on a kid, but Bridge has got to be on NFL radars. He’s got the physical tools, and he plays like a cowboy out there. I have no idea if he can run an NFL offense, but he’s got the look of a guy that will blossom if he’s surrounded with NFL talent.

Read this. (head to Football Outsiders too) RT @MattWaldman: Futures: CSU-Pueblo QB Chris Bonner http://bit.ly/1Dl0vqC

Certainly seems like he has good pocket presence and a good arm

There has literally never been a good QB taken in the 6th round or later. Specifically, once you get past pick 198 it's only a bunch of bums that are left

The one thing that sticks out to me when watching Bonner--even in that Western Georgia game--is how poor his ball placement seems to be...receivers are constantly reaching back, up, etc. for the ball.

The only "developmental" ones that are worth taking as shot on are going to be gone in round 2 or 3. Specifically, Petty, Grayson, and Hundley (who I think made some nice improvements from the second month of the season on last year). I don't think any of the truly late round guys are worth it in this draft at all. I'd rather try to hit on an OLineman and some depth.

I say no. We've already put a first round pick and two QBs making north of 5 mil on our roster in the last couple of years. Add that to the fact that this kid will ride the pine at 3rd string or PS. Take a flyer on BPA and maybe you'll get someone who can actually play some meaningful downs for us.

We should have just held onto Levi Brown.

If you change your "literally" to "vitually", you could say the same thing for QBs selected after the #36 pick......in the last 25 years or so.
