The Dean
Let's move on from the QB discussion for a minute. We should see a few "acceptable" TEs available today. I don't expect anything earth shattering, but perhaps someone with some possible upside for depth, as our TEs haven't been too healthy lately. So far Mike Flacco and Kellen Davis have become available. Who else is likely to be sprung loose? (I didn't see this posted anywhere yet today. If so, delete or merge please.) C.Biscuit97
Besides qb, we've neglect no position like TE. If you want to give EJ everything to succeed, a good TE is a good start. Davis is a solid TE. I'd take him in a second.

Over 29 years of fanhood
I'm with you... A nice big target that can block or run down the seam and get open would be great. Moeki appears to be a lost cause...Gragg doesn't seem to be able to get on the field.... Considering how big chandler was to the offense last season, image adding to or upgrading that group. bowery4
I agree, we could use one. Chandler is okay but another would be nice. Now is the time since we didn't during the draft. Might be good to look for a guard too!

headcase
Steve Maneri cut from the Patriots, if he was with them they saw potential in his blocking abilities, he could replace Lee Smith. Converted tackle, so yes he has the size/ability to block; clueless as a receiver though. Blew his route in Preason game 3 against the Panthers that lead to Brady's pick6. Jamie Nails
I was a little tuned out this weekend and saw that Moeaki was IR'd. Anyone know if he got the designation to return IR or the done for the season version.
BuffalothruMyVeins
Seeing how you only get 1 such designation per year, I doubt they wasted it on a guy who has contributed nothing and cannot stay on the field. You keep that incase a top player breaks an arm, or the like, that they will need 6 weeks off, not so you can potentially return to action your 3rd string TE for week 8, only so he can go back out on full IR on week 11. I think that if you release a player with an injury settlement off IR, he must sit out for the amount of games you are paying him for, in the settlement, then he can sign with any team, and six weeks after the settlement games are up, he can sign with the same team that Ir's him. The player has to accept the settlement. And usually they want a certain number of games because it's more money.

Anyone know if he got the designation to return IR or the done for the season version. I didn't even know he was IR'd. I been playing Madden for 3 days straight and I have him as my starter on Madden so I thought he was fine (I like to think my Madden Bills are the real ones). Oh how I wish the real Bills played the way my Madden guys do. Watkins is BEAST in Madden. If anyone else has the new Madden, take it from me, put Watkins as your #2 WR. He has a speed advantage over EVERY #2 CB.
truth on hold
Allen Reisner was somewhat of a surprise cut by the Vikes, but that said it's not like he's going to come in and light it up either.

machine gun kelly
I seriously doubt there would be anyone. They are too hard to find. That's why we should take a long look at one in the 2nd or 3rd next year.
SageAgainstTheMachine
I've bemoaned our TE situation in the past, too, but Chandler has made improvements to his game each season in my opinion. He's one of the guys this offense can actually hang their hats on, though it'd sure be nice to have a superstar.

I don't see a lot of improvement.. he is what he is and that is a I target. Blocking TE? Nope. I found it telling that he tested the FA waters last winter. He got zero takers, and instead of a pay bump. Signed with the Bills again at a pay cut. That says a lot of what the league thought of him. That said he is by far the teams best TE. I wish he was more of a red zone threat, he has the size.
RuntheDamnBall
That said he is by far the teams best TE. That's sort of like talking about Jim Abbott's "best hand," but I digress.

The Dean
That's sort of like talking about Jim Abbott's "best hand," but I digress. Chandler is OK. Last year he dropped a few big passes, if I recall correctly, but he has usually been reliable. I believe he is a serviceable blocker and just above that in the passing game. The Bills have certainly been in worse shape there. Lee Smith is a solid, if unspectacular, blocker. He actually seems to have good hands, and I don't recall him dropping passes. But he's a slow lumbering guy and when he's in the game the D typically doesn't have to pay all that much attention to him in the passing game. But these guys have been getting dinged-up in preseason, and I'm concerned the Bills will need to use another TE more than they would care to. I'd love to see a guy who can block and pass. Doesn't have to have great speed, but should be comfortable in the passing game and at least a good a blocker as Smith..
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch
The only issue I have with him, seem to recall him him getting a number of holding calls against him at rather critical times. If it were Chandler who's considered an average blocker I'd say OK fine, but for the guy who's on the team for his blocking abilities seemed to get called too often.
