NoSaint
I dont think its gone or forgotten, just not spoken much in the media. Alot of teams use it and its a smart idea. i meant in a strict sense it isnt used, but its still part of our general philosophy.
Chilly
Just to clarify, the deadline was in December to carry money over. The Bills DID carry over 9.8 million.
The Voice of Truth
No reason we can't sign Byrd and Levitre both with this cap carryover and the high cap number at 121 million in 2013. Get it done Buddy otherwise you are not living up to your mantra; draft and develop and then keep your own. Dean Cain
The ability to franchise tag the malcontent's up to 2 consecutive years means we just need to get Byrd or Levitre signed. For the record I'd prefer to sign both of them to long term 5 or 6 year deals.

For the record I'd prefer to sign both of them to long term 5 or 6 year deals. it takes two to tango and I think we will sign em both...they both, most likely, will "test the market" so they have a better idea of what their value is, and the bills should ( and I truly think will ) match or best that offer and keep them both.... the fact that neither are signed yet means very little as far as future plans by the bills
John from Riverside
in all honesty there are some players that need to go that could even increase this number..... Kelsay being one of them

Maddog69
Question. If the Bills do carry over the 9.8M, that would mean a $130M plus. Do they have to spend to 90% of $130M or 90% of the $121M? they have to spend 89% of 121 The 89% rule does not apply to the carry over amount. I also read (not sure if it is true), last teams teams had the option of choosing whether or not to carry over the cap space (some chose not to). This year it was automatically carried over for all teams.
phxbacker
My dream wish list: 1. Re-sign Levitre and Byrd 2. FA Dwayne Bowe and Chris Canty 3. Jarvis Jones in the 1st round and EJ or Barkley or Tyler WIlson in the 2nd Round and a ton of LBs in 3,4,5 will do a world of good for this team. EJ to CJ or SJ....Awesome. Don't forget TJ at wideout
jcbillsfan
At the very least they can resign their own key guys and make one high end buy.

WhitewalkerInPhilly
This puts as as the team with the 7th highest cap room, and puts us on the top end of the middle of the pack (yes, I'm mixing metaphors) so, really, there is no excuse for failing to resign both Byrd and Levitre. With the expected cuts of Kelsay and McGee, I could see us signing McKelvin at rock bottom prices (who is going to pay much more) and I would love to see Buddy play the waiver wire one more time to bring in a half decent WR before the draft. I agree, not a bad position at all. considering restructuring Fitz will save $$, and they still have players they could cut such as Kelsey, B. Smith, that would free up even more. We must resign Byrd and Levitre. With other players on the market who will command ridiculous amounts of money such as Mike Wallace, and Ed Reed, the teams that would blow cash on Byrd and Levitre might have already spent that money. ....lybob
I could find another 10-14mil pretty easily- so Byrd, Levitre , and another high priced FA is a possibility - I know Mike Wallace is not a fan favorite but I wouldn't mind depending on the QB - Wallace, Johnson, Nelson has some interesting possibilities and a credible deep threat would help Spiller out.
