  1. This guy is extremely productive....EXTREMELY productive. He has been in the league three years and his numbers are comparable to many greats. What the moves they just made say about this regime at the Bills is they are about productivity and not potential. So am I. I like it and think its an upgrade. Sammy was CONSTANTLY injured. I don't see that stopping. Best case scenario he has an absolute breakout year.. Then what? We pay him huge money and we're still not sure if he is durable. Jordan Matthews is an upgrade. I don't care how could somebody can be. I care how good they are and how productive they are. Matthews has proven he can be very productive three years in a row.
  2. I used to indulge myself in the minutia and details of every offseason. I am now at a point where I have taken a big step back and am tired of trying to figure out if we're going to be good or try to convince myself we're going to be good. I don't look at the details. I want to see the product on Sundays. Period. That being said, while I have taken a huge step back, the little I have seen from McDermott looks great. Intense. Well spoken. Confident in every arena. Intelligent. A football personality (tough and carries himself well). I'm not sure I have a critique of what I've seen. Time will tell.
  3. All of the question marks going into this season ended up working out. In other words our offense performed to the level we expected to need it to, however, everyone was questioning it. TT had a great year. There should likely be more buzz about finding our QB. My only concern is his size and as a result his durability. However, he did show this year that he was somewhat durable only missing two games despite taking a lot of hits. All of the things us Buffalo fans and the media fully expected to be very good this year did not pan out. In other words, the defense fell flat on its face when we fully expected it to be elite. Thanks Rex.
  4. Look, when a team has an elite QB on their team, the coach and GM always look good. An elite QB covers up poor defensive play and a lot of sub-par skill players as the QB can overcome this. Then the team wins and everybody thinks the GM is a genius. If Aaron Rodgers weren't the QB and you were judging this man solely on the other areas of the Packers, you likely wouldn't be impressed.
  5. I'm in Indianapolis. I'm actually heading out there for this game too.
  6. Hahaha. Everybody plays through stuff. Most guys don't talk about it after every game or stand up after every third play holding what is sore and making sure the world knows they are not 100%. So far he's been doing it again this year. I see a pattern. I hope it's just an unlucky stretch in his first 20 games. We'll see. But yeah, I am sick of that.
  7. If Sammy Watkins returns and then I see him get up after a play in this game and act hurt, I am not going to be happy. The guy might be a little bit of a wuss from what I have seen so far. It's either that or his body is as frail as an old woman with osteoperosis. He was nursing injuries and limping off the field every other game last year. Now this year, every week it's been one thing or another. The most important ability is availability and Sammy has been far from ideal in that category. From what I have seen in his year and a quarter in the league, I'm not sure his body can hold up. Once he returns from this injury, I am going to be keeping a close eye on him. If he gets injured again in a short period of time, then I would say his career is seriously in jeopardy. I hope he comes back and is a tough guy and proves to be a durable player. However, from what I've seen thus far, I would be quite surprised if that happened.
  8. I agree with the sentiment of this post. I already have concern over Rex's coaching ability. We all love him as the PR guy but I'm even beginning to wonder about his defense. Schwartz had the right scheme for these players and what he did made sense. I can't help but see a lot of incompetence and lack of just common sense out of some of the defensive decisions. I mean, this is just one example but I've been seeing things like this every game all over the place. The Titans and Mariota like to get rid of the ball quickly. We know this going in. How was it that Mariota's first read on a lot of plays was wide open with room to run. This is EXACTLY what you should be taking away every play. It's just frustrating as a fan and has me concerned about Rex long term.
  9. The Bills have to counter this by playing very tight coverage early in the down. If they don't, they lack competence.
  10. Love the idea and the outside the box thinking. I'm for it! Brady might counter by just getting rid of the ball; throwing it at someone's feet or something.
  11. Anybody in favor of this rule and defending it on here is not very intelligent.
  12. I may look like a drunk right now but actually I'm stone cold sober. This is actually a powerful meditative ritual I do to get the Bills out of a funk. Turn it around boys!!!!!
  13. I like his belief in Manuel and I like what I have seen out of Manuel this year, but I am not fond of stating we have our "future" QB on the roster when our "present" is just beginning his tenure. I think with how we play the QB position and with Tyrod being a bit small, EJ will get his chance due to injury at some point. Let him get his chance and let him prove his value. That's how players like other players to earn their keep. Don't preeminently annoint him "the future".
  14. If you're referring to my comment, re-read it. Your drawing wrong conclusions. I am happy with the improvement I've seen out of the QB position thus far this year. However, I am placing partial blame for Sammy's lack of very high production for last year and this year on our instability at QB.
  15. No way. He's barely past his rookie season. He has not lived up to what we gave up for him. While I blame a lot of that on Buffalo's QB situation, the reality is he has not been abundantly productive. He is not the leader right now and is completely out of place criticizing others.
  16. My bad. Must have missed the thread. Still, after dropping such a crucial ball, he should not be commenting at all on anyone else. All comments should be, "I need to get better at what I'm responsible for. First and foremost, catching." Commenting on Clay is also out of bounds. Worry about yourself Sammy. You've got plenty to work on.
  17. Why have I seen very little on here criticizing Sammy. I expected a thread this week. We had a chance to tie the game up on the final drive had Sammy caught a ball that hit him in the hands. Obviously it was far from a perfect throw but he had a lot of both hands on that ball. It should have been caught. I notice he does not quickly secure a lot of balls and bobbles them. Hey Sammy, don't worry about Tyrod trusting the offensive line. Go do some catching drills instead.
  18. Yesterday, our defense got annihilated. The Bills were utterly unprepared to face what the Patriots could throw at them yesterday. Obviously, the result against the Colts for the defense was good but my eye test on that day caused me some concern as well. Early in the game (Colts game) we were blitzing the house on every play and you could just see places all over the field where we could get gashed. Luck (not the player) was a significant factor in week 1 in our defense having success. Things easily could have gone the other way early and the game would have been very different. Yesterday, obviously was pathetic. Schwartz knew how to limit elite offenses with our personnel. He knew he didn't have to blitz like crazy and he knew to keep the back end (secondary) protected. When I saw the stats yesterday on Rex Ryan's defenses against Brady, I was very disappointed. 25 TDs to 3 INTs. Ouch. I love what Rex has brought to the Bills. I am a Rex supporter. However, what I've seen so far out of this very talented defense has me missing Schwartz's scheme.
  19. We're bringing too much pressure on every play. Too predictable. Too much open field behind the blitzes. We're going to get seriously burned if this doesn't stop. I'm going to miss Schwartz if this keeps up. He knew we could get pressure with the front four.
  20. THE SOLE PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD IS TO HONOR FRED JACKSON I know there are a lot of topics on Fred. If I get warned or something for starting another one I don't care. This is worth it to me. Fred Jackson being cut is a very big deal. I think we need a thread solely where people can pay homage to this man. My heart hurts. Fred Jackson has been the absolute heart and soul of this team through very difficult years. This is a piss poor decision. The entire time Fred has been here, the BIlls have been trying to bring in elite backs. Lynch, Spiller, McCoy. Despite coaches efforts to allow these new "elite backs" to take the reigns, Fred Jackson always took control and proved to be the better player. Fred Jackson is a player you could use to bring attention to some of the things coaches cannot see that actually translate into NFL production. The organization was always looking for the next guy because maybe he didn't have the measurables. He didn't have all the things they wanted to see on paper. He didn't have the big college career. Then they'd put him in the game, he'd make guys miss, fall forward, pick up the pass protection and always knew where the first down was. I am disgusted they did not carry this man into the years of success that I am confident the Bills are about to embark upon. He deserved it. I don't want to hear about football decision. He could still play. We saw it in the preseason game Saturday. Our running backs are depleted. Even if he may have lost a little bit physically, he's the type of player that could use his veteran knack to get things done on the field. Fred deserved to don the Blue & Red into the playoffs. He deserved to usher the new era of the Bills in and gracefully bow out and retire a Bill. Thank you for giving your all in every game from the bottom of my heart.
  21. I definitely like what I have seen out of EJ. I seriously feel like the coach speak about how the quarterbacks bascially stink is partly a motivational ploy. At this point, I think Tyrod should be the starter to open the season. Based on his playing style and body type, it is likely he will experience some injury. At that point, give EJ his chance to come in and earn the job. I think the entire team would be strongly behind Tyrod to start the season but they would be quick to rally around EJ once his opportunity presents itself. In the above scenario, obviously, the best case would be for Tyrod to never get injured and secure the QB job. However, I would consider this unlikely and EJ would be able to get his shot with the whole team behind him. If EJ is given the job up front, it will be perceived by the team that he is getting the job because of where he was drafted. Doing things how I outlined above works around all of this.
  22. I've been wanting to make a topic about this but never got around to it. Spiller is going to tear it up with the Saints. I think the main reason for this is defenses have to majorly respect the ability of Brees. I'm not sure a ton more could have been done to use him properly here as teams were able to focus on him as they did not fear our QB play. I'm rooting for him. But you're right it will be bitter sweet. I do think he will have a huge year though.
