Johnson is a total dumb ass piece of sh$#. I don't care how successful he was today vs. Revis, the drop at the end of the game was bad enough, but the assh&^% antics after his TD in the second quarter cost us the game as it led to a botched kickoff and after the Dareus penaly, set up the Jets to tie it up after we had all of the momentum. I hate what Johnson did today as he if no different than the other sh&^heads around the league who do the same thing. Oh, one other thing. This is not the first time Johnson has dropped a pass to win the game. He is a decent receiver, but also a total jackass. If I were Gailey, I would have him walk back to Buffalo. There is no place in team sports for the selfishness that Johnson showed today. I say trade him and turn the page. Johnson SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate what he did today. NO character whatsoever.

If you say so Chan but .... why on earth call for a squib there? It gave the NYJ the short field, and a TD that in the end, could have made the difference in the game.

Very strange playcalling

First off, Chan Gailey said this in his press conference about the squib kick.

You don't understand football. Either way you kick it you will be playing with a short field. By taking the penalty the kickoff is now at the 20 yard line instead of the 35. Typically a kickoff at the 35 yard line is either a touchback or a return from the endzone. Now kicking off at the 20 yard line the ball will be returned starting at the 10 or 15 yard line. The ball is now getting returned 100% of the time and now by the best returner in the league.

Now what the squib does is it can potentially take the ball out of the main returner hands and it can prevent setting up blocks for the returner. Its used to limit the BIG PLAY - the momentum killer. The Jets have the #1 return game in the NFL and that is why you squib the ball in that situation. Its not a strange call by any means, its the correct call!

That said, he did own up afterward and said his celebration cost us seven points and that his drop could have been a touchdown. Good for him. But why is he learning this NOW?

I'm glad he said this if he did, but I hope he has it burned permanently into his brain. He did the same stupid thing against the Patriots last year when the Bills pulled to within 8 points on his touchdown catch in the fourth quarter. Because of the fifteen yard penalty, on the ensuing kickoff the Pats started their drive on the Buffalo side of the 50. Then he got fined by the league for the "Why So Serious" celebration in the Bengals game later that season.

So this is the third time he's pulled the same endzone celebration stunt, and in all three of these games the Bills were struggling to beat a tough opponent, or to break a long losing streak. He needs to have his head completely in the game. Score the touchdown, flip the ball to the official, go back to the sidelines and get ready for the next time you are on the field. Be a man, not a child.

come on, baby, don't get upset or frustrated or tired. we're all on the same team here. try to add a few more emoticons next time so i can understand where you're coming from.

point is, stevie didn't muff that kick. sorry.

Point is B word, he never should have had to try the squib in the first place.

His priorities are messed up. He's a good possession WR for three quarters. But he disappears in crunch time and is too focused on being a shiny star.

As far as I'm concerned, he's not worth big money. He's good, but I'm tired his "me me" attitude and BS celebrations.

Stevie crossed the line bigtime. It wasn't about football it was personal. He should offer a public apology to Plaxico IMO.

why? Plaxico shot himself in the leg..."Shot himself in the leg".....if your that much of a F'n idiot to not only have a gun where it is illegal to have guns but to shoot yourself in the leg you deserve to be made fun of forever.

Like I said--as above. Gailey says Ramius doesn't understand football.

So you are saying there were several other bad plays after Johnson's penalty that led to the Jet's score. You are saying it is not all on Johnson then? He didn't mess up a squib kick, nor did he commit the defensive penalty. You're also saying Johnson didn't do anything more then any of the other TD celebrations we see week in week out? Is this a sarcastic post?

I'm certainly a fan. Guy's got swagger, nothing wrong with that. And after today, it's safe to say he;s one hell of a baller.

One hell of a baller does not drop the biggest pass of the game.

It's not like he's Jackie Smith playing out the string after a HOF career. He's still trying to make a name in this league. After the drop last year and the drop today, plus the third excessive-celebration penalty in two years at critical times, it's clear he's making the wrong kind of name for himself. Shut. Up. And. Play.

The Bills need to cut Stevie Johnson or get a REAL #1 WR. Dude is a punk, yes he's got skills, but they only make things worse because you start to trust him and then he blows the game. We've seen plenty of evidence by now to prove that he just isn't mature/capable enough of being a #1 WR. Just drafting a stud WR won't work because Stevie would still be the leader and as we've seen that just doesn't work. We either need to bring in an experienced veteran who can mentor Stevie or we need to cut him and start fresh with a new crop of WRs.

Wow, now I know why I don't post here much anymore....too many people with zero football sense. I was at the Bills/Jets game at the Ralph three weeks ago and watched Burress openly taunt the Bills sidelines. What's wrong with giving it back. Did no one see Maybin taunting the Bills sideline today after his sacks? Yeah Johnson has no class cause he is basically the only player on this team with a sack. He got penalized, and took full blame for losing the game afterwards. And Rayner was NOT trying to squib that kickoff. The replay clearly showed him trying to hit it as hard as he could and he missed the ball. When a kicker wants to squib a kick, he doesn't try to drive it into the one player standing in the middle of the field anyways. If the Bills had any coaches with half a brain they would have told Raynor to just kick the ball out of bounds and let the Jets have the ball at their own 40. Until today Sanchez was only completing 50% of his fourth quarter passes. I don't know if he missed one today, the Bills defense made him look like Joe Montana. Anyone remember Jerry Rice? You know that WR that NEVER dropped a pass in his career??? :wallbash: Some people are ridiculous.

Yeah Stevie owes Plaxico an apology, cause he was there that night and distracted Burress while he was dancing around with loaded guns like a jackass and shot himself. Give me a break. He owes Goodell and no one else an apology.

And you want to know who's one hell of a baller? It kills me to say this, but it's Plaxico Burress. He made THE play of the game on third and long with that circus catch and saved Sanchez's bacon. Meanwhile Fitz hits Stevie right in the f'in hands and look what happens. Ronnie Harmon time.

Okay, so Chan lied when he said he called for a squib.

Now we're comparing Stevie to Jerry Rice?

HAHAHA You've got to be kidding, Jerry Rice?!?!?! When did he EVER drop a potential game winning TD, let alone two?!?!?!?!?!?! I'm pretty sure Rice never celebrated twice after a score like he was trying to get a flag either!

And Sanchez absolutely did miss some fourth quarter passes today, some badly enough to draw boos. The throw to Burress was a prayer and .... Burress made the play. He made another sick one earlier in the quarter too when he skied to get a high pass and somehow came down before Florence could push him out. I hate him but if we had him today, we win the game. End of story.

We're too busy signing undrafted free agents.

There's always something to learn about football. Let's look at the situation.

The Bills have a backup kicker they've just signed. He can't have had much practice in fancy kicks.

At that point the Jets had received one kickoff, with a 14 yard return stopped by some very effective Bills ST coverage.

The Jets are averaging 29 yds per kickoff return this season. 29 + 15 = 44 yds. That's still in Jets territory and out of FG range.

The Jets started the squib kick drive at the Buffalo 35 - within fieldgoal range and knocking on the door of the Bills redzone.

I may understand football, I may not understand football, but I understand that handing the other team the ball from the Buffalo 35 with 2 minutes left is a worse position in which to place your 24th-in-the league D than starting from the Jets 44 yd line. (And it's not a sure bet that they'll get that kind of return - pretty good coverage on the first kickoff). Squib kicks aren't that common early in the game when your team is ahead, because they're relatively low-percentage trick plays that go oft awry.

Outcome: the Jets score 7 and we go to the lockers with a tie game. Some momentum killer.

I repeat: very strange playcalling in the circs.

By the way, "If you say so Chan" indicates acknowledgement by meS that Chan said this in his presser (which I still haven't found). So reiterating that information was not necessary. I will leave it to the regulars here to assess whether your initiatory insult has merit, is gratuitous, or merely makes you look silly.
