Expect Jauron to be fired tomorrow

Nothing to go one here except instinct, but I think he gets the axe tomorrow. There is enough to question about today's game that has to leave Russ and Ralph feeling hopeless about this team for this year. We haven't heard much publically from Russ or Ralph but let's face it, it's quite obvious to anyone watching this team that they are a mess and at this point Ralph has to be embarrassed. It won't cost him much to elevate April to HC for the rest of the year and it will send a signal to the players that change starts now. I really think it will happen.

I like the thought (though methinks you make a major mistake by overlooking the Ringleader of the circus at OBD- Brandon), but I agree with others that the bye week would have been the time.

At this point, I don't think there would be any reason not to take Ralph at his word. This past offseason, Ralph declared playoffs or bust. Well, I realize that playoffs are probably not realistic, so we can say that Ralph will stick it out until the end of the year before letting Jauron (AND Guy, and Modrak) go.

In reaction to your 'gut' feeling...

Tomorrow Ralph Wilson will realize that all the loser "Bill-ievers" will continue to sell out home games no matter what crap he fields- players and COACH included. He will realize is it not worth the effort to make changes or invest in the team, and therefore Dick Jauron will still be coach on Tuesday.

Bills fans OWN the disaster of a coach and disaster of a team. With their dollars they vote and say "YES" to the crap that Wilson calls an NFL team.

Fire Jauron, promote April to interim head coach. Hire a GM in february to bring in his own guys, including a new HC. You'll at least show that you're trying to fix this season and you'll still have that "buzz" for season ticket sales in February.

Great idea - especially if that new HC is..

Its possible, the penalties can't be ignored or the questionable coaching decisions late in the game. The way the Titans kept making big plays DJ was damned if he does and damned if he doesn't on making them kick the field goal. 51 yards is no gimme and another 1st down its probably all over, DJ took the easy way out,

and he might be out the door because of it...

I wish he'd commit coaching "seppuku", do the honorable thing and resign. But reality will probably be that he'll take the easy way out and be here watching the playoffs with the rest of us. Let's face it. Wade, GW and Mularkey are still in the league after coaching the Bills, who'd knock on DJ's door for a job?

Ticket sales, not team record is the metric here. It's all in the buzz factor. The firing will lead to a positive buzz.

If the firing occurs now, the buzz will be wasted as the Bills are so awful, that nothing done now will change the season results.

But if the buzz happens in February or whereabouts, the buzz may help season ticket sales.

Right on the money. This off-season was the most clear indication they've accepted mediocrity (or worse) as long as they can sell the ST's the next year.

Firing DJ does nothing right now, but it can be used to their advantage in a few months. In the meantime, we have to accept 7 weeks of most likely bad football.

Won't happen....Ralph will not eat the rest of his contract....and nobody is accountable there

i wonder if DJ is around next year too. Obviously the Schonert firing , the Peters thing and the Crowell thing were front office mistakes of gigantic proportions and then when Brad Butler went out for the season along with Schouman that was about it for the offense for this year. Ralph doesn't much care anymore.. he;s in the hall of fame for cryingout loud. what else does he want? no way a franchise in buffalo will ever be able to attract the needed talent to make the playoffs .. heck Pia Tiosamoso or whatever his name is took less $$ to go somewhere else... the wheels are off and they are not coming back on....

we dont seem to make drastic much needed moves until the end of preseason, like the firing of Turk and the release of Langston Walker. NO we like to wait until there is absolutely no chance of replacing them which in turn allows ourselves to F*** ourselves harder. I predict we fire Jauron at the end of next preseason.

That would get me excited again. Let Bobby April be interim coach and get a jump on finding a new GM, scouting staff and a new HC.

There is no downside IMHO.

there is no reason not to fire him. results have shown that teams continue shitting the bed after a head coach is fired mid-season but who cares. with jauron coaching, the team is going to **** the bed anyways. might as well fire him and let the fan base know they're serious about bringing in a real coach. i wouldn't mind seeing bobby april run things for awhile anyway.

...and then another perennial loser hired in his stead for pennies on the dollar.

CHA-CHING!!!!

if you think ralph is so senile that he won't hire a proven coach after this butt !@#$ of a season then you are more blind than helen kellar was.

There is no more rock bottom... Either he goes tomorrow or he'll be here the rest of the year, period. I just can't wait for the full on TO press conference meltdown that should be coming within moments...

Those aren't the only two options.

I personally don't expect any firings till we're mathematically eliminated, and probably not till after the season. But, not being Ralph Wilson, I have no real idea.

Unlike the rest of you who are not Ralph Wilson and yet are sure.

Doubtful this owner will fire one coach and still pay him while having to pay another

If this is true, then Raslph is a worse business man than George W Bush.

I thought for sure Dick was done after Cleveland. If Dick were fired tomorrow it would be a good move for fan morale now. Then the day after the season you announce you're hiring a new coach and then hire a good one, and cha-ching. Ralph will have to bring temps in to answer the phone in the season ticket office.

That said, I hope he's already fired and it just hasn't been announced yet. However, I think he'll finish out the season.

I thought he was gone after the Jets game on the road last year, that was a fireable call when he had Loseman throw to the fullback.

Goes to show you Ralph only cares about the bottom line like most businessman.

And thats all he is...a businessman not a real owner.

Say what you want about Jerry Jones, but he would have fired Limp Dicks ass last year for sure if he was the owner of this team.

If Jauron is fired now and the interim coach wins 2-3 games, then this franchise will again be set back by years.

This might be the best post I've ever seen on this site during my short stay.

This is also the scariest post I've ever seen on this site during my short stay.

there is no reasoning behind this. there is no way the interim coach will be made the new head coach if he wins a couple games. ralph knows he needs a proven coach and has probably already talked to gruden on the phone.

If it does happen, which I highly doubt, any thoughts on who you think would take over for the rest of this year?

Then this thread has no purpose. If what you say is true, why fire Dick now??

BTW, I agree with you, but not to the extent that DJ gets fired. No point, let him finish the year, then firesale this mofo....

Brandon needs to go back to marketing. Modrak, Guy & Jauron should be fired immediately. Get rid of the Tampon 2 defense as it got torched today by Chris Johnson & Vince Young.

Why in the hell do you put in a QB that is much worse than your starter after he gets intercepted? I don't know if that was Van Pelt or Edwards decision to throw the exact same play 3 times in a row, but that was very pathetic.

I think DJ pulled Trent because it was his first game back from the concussion and he had Levitre trying to patch in for LT and a new guard in HIS spot and he was getting crushed back there. The game wasn't winnable at that point, I liked the call.

nope. In fact I believe that until the CBA is signed or agreed to in principle, Ralph may not spend another dime on head coaching costs (maybe an O - coordinator) . which means we may have DJ next year as well. lets see you " keep the faith" in that scenario...

I won't be happy either until Jauron's successor is in place.

My fear is Ralph goes back to the market and brings in another clunker vs. a seasoned and successful former/current head coach. A new coach has also got to be part of a new GM/HQ combo to get this franchise moving in the right direction after a decade of futility and frustration.

Dick might be one of the worst head coaches of all-time but his current personel crew gets an 'F' grade too...

Ralph is running the business of the Bills brilliantly. The majority of his revenue is shared TV money, which he gets even if the stadium is half full. The stadium won't be half full, because Bills fans come for the party as much as anything else. So, do the math, its easy. Lets say 20% of the fans stay away next year because they are upset (I don't see that happening if the team wins 2 or 3 more games, which is likely) . That's 14,000 unsold tix at $50per, so that's $700k over 7 games, or $5million. That's a very small number. Smaller if another game goes to Toronto next year. Not sure if Ralph gets a cut of concessions, probably not. Even with concessions, the number is still pretty much equal to what he'd have to pay Gruden or some other name brand coach for next year. Plus he'd have to guarantee Gruden $15 mil. over 3 years, so now Ralph's on the hook for another $10mil. I think he keeps Jauron next year and waits and sees what happens with the CBA. thats the smart business guy move. He owns the fans. they will keep coming. in 1984-5, the stadium was still at 50,000 - 60,000 fans. Don't ever say Ralph is not a smart business guy. He knows how to run a blue collar/small market team... keep costs/payroll low, keep tix prices the lowest in the league, let the tailgate parties go on all day (most stadium owners do not allow the mayhem surrounding the Ralph on game day) and work to a minimum 8 - 8 record and you make money all day long.

Wouldn't it be nice if they turned that problem on its head by ask the season ticket holders to renew now and after acehiveing x% renewals, they clean house now,so we can hit the ground running next season...

I know its just not how the world works, but if Bills nation is given the option to vote it would be interesting what the poll told us...
