Rookies at certain positions actually frequently have an immediate impact. One of those positions is WR, which will almost certainly be one of our first draft choices. RBs do, too. One of our 3 RBs this year will also likely be a rookie. Allen, Edmunds, Milano, Taron, Dion, Tre, Oliver, Knox, Gabe, Moss, Benford, Kincaid, Groot, etc. all beg to differ

NFL Admits Mistake, Bengals get 3rd Rnd Comp Pick
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
And by jumping ahead of edmunds into the 3rd, the 4th that cancelled out with orlando brown now shifts down and cancels out a 6. -
You might want to fact check your statements before you post them in the future. All of the Bills' first round picks started as rookies: Tre White - started all 16 games as a rookie Josh Allen - started 11 games as a rookie Tremaine Edmunds - started all 15 games he played as a rookie Ed Oliver - started 7 games as a rookie Greg Rosseau - started all 17 games as a rookie Kaiir Elam - started 6 games as a rookie Dalton Kincaid - started 11 games as a rookie Moreover, these 2nd rounders started as rookies: Dion Dawkins - started 11 games as a rookie Cody Ford - started 15 games as a rookie A.J. Epenesa - started 1 game as a rookie O'Cyrus Torrence - started all 17 games as a rookie Here are the other rookies who have started for the Bills as rookies: Spencer Brown - started 10 games as a rookie (3rd rounder) Devin Singletary - started 8 games as a rookie (3rd rounder) Taron Johnson - started 2 games as a rookie (4th rounder) Matt Milano - started 5 games as a rookie (5th rounder) Christian Benford - started 5 games as a rookie (6th rounder)
-
You're right. Dion Dawkins Spencer Brown Ed Oliver Dalton Kincaid Tre White Tremaine Edmunds O'Cyrus Torrence Taron Johnson Matt Milano Greg Rosseau Cody Ford Devin Singletary James Cook Christian Benford None of the above played as rookies. There hasn't been a more accurate statement on this board because the above list proves it. Even though Josh Allen did play, he was supposed to sit and learn but was put in earlier because we were bad at that position.

Greg Rousseau 5th year option, extension candidate?
Matt_In_NH replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall
The bolded is a weird position to take, would you also never franchise tag a guy, even a Josh Allen, ever? Like never ever? Signing the 5th year option for Edmunds worked out cause it was not that much, it also worked out with Oliver IMO. But I do understand your argument about leverage...especially in this case where it is a highly paid position like DE. -
Greg Rousseau 5th year option, extension candidate?
DCofNC replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall
You should NOT be signing any 5th year options. Ever. The difference between that and a franchise tag is minimal and it gives you ZERO flexibility to do anything. You either extend or ride it out. If you get a case like Edmunds, it buys you one more year at more than he was worth before the year, and then departing or you get somebody like EO who never answered if he was worth an extension, so you had to gamble anyway. If they had just extended Edmunds, he would have been worth ~ 2/3 of what he got paid, you allowed him to re-set his market. 5th year is nothing but a bargaining chip for teams, if the guy is t worth an extension, you ride it out, if he is, sign it before they add more dollars to that contract. Don’t screw around. It’s fools gold. -
Greg Rousseau 5th year option, extension candidate?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree. He is nothing special so far. Pick up the option and let him play it out just like Edmunds. -
For whatever its worth: PFF says he was 12th out of 46 qualified (300+ run snaps) LBs vs the run.... and he was slightly better than Bernard in coverage, just behind (ex Bill) Terrell Edmunds
-
Yeah, and clearly with Edmunds, Milano, Bernard, Dotson, etc., Beane and McDermott don’t have a clue when it comes to LB talent. Big “yikes”. Philly fans on a message board should be running the Bills.

That and the fact that I never need to hear that song or an Edmunds joke ever again.
-
His stats are better than T Edmunds ever were.😆

NFL Admits Mistake, Bengals get 3rd Rnd Comp Pick
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is what they have for overthecap - also i just read all this, i thought it was money only. https://overthecap.com/the-basics-and-methodology-of-projecting-the-nfls-compensatory-draft-picks Start with the Average Per Year (APY) of the contract signed. Subtract from the APY any money that the compensatory formula does not count3. Rank these players by adjusted APY in descending order, and assign points to each player, equal to [number of leaguewide players]-[rank]. Add anywhere from 25 to 100 points for players who played a percentage of snaps on offense or defense in the range of 25% to 100%. (Kickers and punters are given a different point addition unrelated to snap counts.) Add 20 or 5 points for postseason honors as determined by the AP’s All Pro list, and the PFWA’s All NFL/All Conference list. Bates was 2nd team all-pro and made the pro-bowl and played a higher percentage of snaps. So that explains the jump ahead of edmunds. Since Bates is now a 3rd round pick instead of a 4th... Orlando brown who was also judged at a 4th, now cancels out with Vonn Bell who is the next highest comp pick in the formula of a 6th round pick. A CFA gained by a team cancels out the highest-valued available CFA lost that has the same round valuation of the CFA gained. If there is no available CFA lost in the same round as the CFA gained, the CFA gained will instead cancel out the highest-available CFA lost with a lower round value. A CFA gained will only cancel out a CFA lost with a higher draft order if there are no other CFAs lost available to cancel out. -

Edmunds: 875 snaps; 100% 10 weeks, missed 2 games with 0%. Garrapolo: 325 snaps; 100$ 4 weeks, missed 10 games with 0%. Bates: 1133 snaps; 100% 15 weeks. Hargrave: 730 snaps; no snap count over 71%. Missed 2 weeks. Taylor: 1076 snaps https://overthecap.com/compensatory-picks Morris and Ryans/Carthon really must be something special to impact the game played by players. -
NFL Admits Mistake, Bengals get 3rd Rnd Comp Pick

Anyone know what the playing time benchmarks are for comp picks? What I keep reading is Edmunds missing time due to injury may have been why we got a 4th not 3rd. -

I honestly don't know about the rest of you, and frankly I don't even care, but I am just about ready to get naked and start the revolution because after the Edmunds 4th round comp pick debacle I believe its high time to go Gary Oldman in "The Professional" demon-level-pay back on this overwhelmingly high level of horse **** we are seeing right now. -

So Bates 4/$64M beats out Edmunds 4/$72M? Edmunds is paid higher at his position than Bates in relation to other guys signed. Very odd how NFL is making these decisions. -

How long until they realized they made a mistake with Tremaine Edmunds and award a compensatory pick to NE?

You can't make this ***** up... How we did not get one for Edmunds blows my mind.
-
Edmunds found another way to screw the Bills. ☹️
-
We’ll see…as we know there are no guarantees They only gave out 3 4th rounds this year and Edmunds got more money
-
Edmunds just named valedictorian at Sweet Home HS. Here’s to the graduating class of 2024!
-
The NFL will not disclose their formula. Overthecap seemed to have it nailed down, but not on that pick. Edmunds missed some time this season and playing time factors into the formula. Total speculation on my part, but that may have been it. He was calculated as giving us the lowest 3rd round comp pick - other than the ones given to teams that have minority GMs and HCs hired away.

Is Edmunds even aloud to drink beer yet?
