7 for Austin? A 7? How is that even possible? I mean...I know WR intelligence is not as important as QB...But a 7? Good grief...

Mayock has been saying this (trade back into the 1st for a QB) for months about the Bills...Problem is he has never once mentioned the Bills only have 6 Draft picks to go along with a TON of needs, or that Buddy wants more picks...not less, and that Nix does not like to trade picks anyway...Why is it so many of these Draft guys talk about Buffalo trading back in to the 1st, but never the FAR more logical trading down? Yet everyone and their Mother says the Browns are the perfect team to trade down...Why not Buffalo too? And I have mad respect for Mayock...But he should know the Bills under Buddy are FAR more likely to sit at #8 and reach for a guy then they are to give up a 3rd or 4th Round pick to move up from #41...He should know that...At least I think he should... But maybe this is the year Buddy changes...I don't see it...But it could happen I guess...

Nigel Bradham article/words from Bradham and Nix
KOKBILLS replied to ny33's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And no one expects honesty this time of year anyway... Agreed... We'll see quickly how good Pettine really is...Because I'll say this forever and a day...KW is not a NT, and every team and their mother is going to look to pound the rock right at us...I would not be surprised at all to see Branch in there at NT a lot when were in the 3-4...I think, more than anything, the new D could seriously cut down on playing time for KW...Which could actually be a very good thing considering his injury concerns... -
I pretty much agree with everything you wrote... So in the end it mainly comes down to 1-7...Once we know who's actually available, things become much clearer...I do think the mystery factor in this Draft is greater due to the outside chance of a Nassib, or Barkley-type pick at #8... Good grief...Can we just forward this thing 7 days and get it over with?...

I don't like Ansah to The Bills at all...Makes zero sense to me...

Before last years Draft I was pretty sure that it was going to come down to Kuechly, Barron, or Gilmore for The Bills...I even started a Poll here to find out who TSW preferred...When it came to our pick, and the other two were gone, I was 100% positive it would be Gilmore...And it was... http://forums.twobil...re/page__st__20 That being said...Assuming Geno is gone, I have absolutely no idea what The Bills will do this year...I know what I want them to do though...

Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse
KOKBILLS replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly... I'm not the biggest Nassib guy...But like I've said before it's impossible to ignore the support he's getting from some folks in-the-know...And it's not just one guy... On the other hand you have guys who I respect a lot, like Charles Davis, saying that he feels Tyler Wilson is a better prospect QB than Nassib...Davis then went on to say that he felt Wilson was only a potential NFL starter, and a good back-up QB prospect...So he's not too high on Nassib...This has to be the most confusing group of Draftable QB's in a while...Seeing how these kids will pan out over the next 3 years is going to be interesting to say the least... -
Bill Polian's top 4 qualities in a franchise QB

Honestly...Not to say that Gruden was incorrect...But that is an easily correctable "fault" in EJ's game...That's very coach-able... -
Agree 1000%!!!

Would you trade a 3rd for Kenny Britt?
KOKBILLS replied to KitchenerKaizer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A 3rd round pick for a nutjob with an injury history?...And the Niners gave up what for Bolden? No way any team would give a 3rd Round pick for Britt...Unless they were completely stupid... For a 3rd Round pick I would pass, pass, pass...I would not give up anything more than a conditional late Round pick for Britt...Great talent, tons of very serious concerns... -
You are 100% correct! And I totally missed the OP's comment about Russell Wilson...Where in the hell did the OP get that terrible info?

The title is "Best Mock Yet" and you want the guy at #8 that will lead me to re-think my 42 year die-hard dedication to the Buffalo Bills... So I'm thinking not so much... Austin is a very interesting prospect and a great College WR...He's also 5-8-174...Just because Wes Welker has done it catching passes from one of the greatest QB's of all time does not mean whatsoever that Austin is going to do the same thing in the NFL...In fact the odds are not in his favor...The Bills have bigger needs than a smurf-slot WR anyway...No matter what his potential is...There are going to be a slew of prospects that could help the Bills in the 1st Round of this Draft...And certainly Austin will be one of them...But you can't Draft them all...And taking Austin, IMHO, is a massive gamble at #8...And a gamble this team cannot afford whatsoever at this time... If the Bills take Austin I hope like hell I'm wrong...I do admit it would be par for the course with Buddy...It would not surprise me at all...It would just piss me off...

QB is the #1 priority...Period...My comment was in direct response to your belief that QB is no longer the Bills top priority because they signed Kolb...And I disagree...The comment was about priority, not where we would Draft one because #1 priority or not you have a Draft board to follow...You can't just say...QB is the top priority so come hell or high water we're going to take a QB at #8, even if the top QB available at #8 is rated #38 on our board...So maybe they trade down a bit...Maybe they are forced to wait till the 2nd round...They're not going to reach too far based on their board just because it's by far the teams #1 need and largest priority...I'm sure there is a limit...And that's exactly why they signed Kolb...Insurance... I'll rephrase my comment so as not to contradict myself...If the Bills feel a QB is worthy of the #8 pick they will take that QB because it is their greatest need...And they will make it their priority to get a QB they really like somewhere in the first two rounds...But things have to play out...And there are too many variables right now to say with certainty that a QB will be Drafted at #8...Regardless of priority...
-
It's their #1 priority by far...And it should be...It's completely clear by the way they have handled the evaluation process on the top 8 (or so) QB's with laser focus...But that does not mean they'll use the #8 overall pick, or even a 1st Round pick on QB necessarily...That all depends on how they grade out the prospects...But I have absolutely no doubt that Kolb, or no Kolb, QB is the #1 priority this Draft...It's just that obvious IMHO...
-
Agreed...I have no problem with this kind of talk...It's great...Assuming it's not honest because...and this is just me...I don't want Austin at #8...No way, no how...Like I said before...If they pick him there I have some big-time decisions to make about my future as a Bills fan...That's how strongly I am against Tavon Austin as the Bills 1st pick this year...And it's nothing against Austin necessarily...Just not for the Bills at this time...I think it would be a terrible pick... But a smokescreen is AOK in my book...He seems to be the hot rising name...It can't hurt to fake interest...In fact it would be really smart...

Just want to point out that the local reporters from Philly and Jacksonville that have been on the NFL Network's Path To The Draft the past couple of shows were pretty positive the Eagles and Jags would pass on Geno...They both gave pretty decent arguments for why each team would not chance taking a QB that high this year...Neither was negative about Geno necessarily...They just felt that both teams already had young QB's to develop, and veteran QB's on the roster....There does not seem to be the pressure to get a Rookie in that Buffalo has... All of a sudden I'm thinking that IF Geno goes from 1-7, it's going to be a team coming up and jumping the Bills...And I don't think that is a very good possibility at this point because I can't really see any team except the Jets directly behind the Bills with a huge QB need...And I don't think the Jets want to go QB in Round #1 anyway...Maybe if they move Revis and pick up that extra 1st Round pick...We'll see... Anyway...Just wanted to pass this on...Just something I've been thinking about...And it's just my opinion...But I think the most interesting thing that could happen in this Draft is seeing Geno slide to #8...Then seeing what will happen there...That will be some big time drama for 10 mins...Can you imagine if the Bills Draft Nassib there and pass on Geno?...Oh boy!!! That will cause some discussion...

Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse
KOKBILLS replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That exact point has been argued with him ad nauseam by several (not sure how many, but it's a lot) board members over the past month or so...He's never going to stop that comparison no matter how much logic you throw at him...Many have tried to get him to see the light on the Kaepernick and Wilson comparisons with Scott...All have failed to get him to stop...So good luck... -
This much I agree with...Buddy has never been much of a smokescreen guy...If it's a need position, and he knows that you know it's a need position, he pretty much shoots from the hip...Look at how much he talked honestly about the CB's and OT's in last years Draft...That's just the way Buddy is...Take it or leave it I guess...
