What? You don't really think Jairus Byrd was the most hated Draft pick in recent Bills history do you? Did you just cut and paste that from someone else? Because that statement is beyond ridiculous... -

#8 spot generating the most buzz

Makes more sense than having him #1 overall that's for sure...But who in the world would believe that nonsense? -

Well...I'll say this much...If Austin, a 5-8-172 slot receiver is #1 on the Bills board this team has problems so deep this Draft is all but useless...IMHO...That would solidify the Bills as clearly and unquestionably the worst Scouting Department in the NFL...Hands down... -

Well that would make me very, very happy...But I'm not holding my breath... -
It absolutely does matter...Because all the guy has done is excel in College...It's a projection just like every other prospect coming in...There are no certainties coming from College...It's all projection...And that's exactly why Russell Wilson was a 3rd Round pick...Now, in hindsight we can say Wilson was worthy of a Top 10 pick...But that's because he excelled IN THE NFL as a Rookie...Austin has done no such thing...And outside of Wes Welker neither has any other WR close to Austin's size...We're talking about #8 overall here!!! It's a monster gamble to take a 5-8-172-slot-smurf at #8 overall and expect him to live up to that value... I really find it hard to believe that there are Bills fans talking themselves into Austin as the pick...One thing I've clearly become sick of writing over these years is the statement..."I hope I'm wrong..." But if the Bills Draft Austin at #8...well...Here we go again...And I do hope I'm wrong...

Agree with this take 100%... Trade down, maybe even twice...Get in the 20-25 area...Draft a QB there (I would like Manual...But any QB the Bills truly believe in)...Use the extra picks in the 2nd and 3rd you got to trade down to fill the holes at WR, TE, and CB... That is the way you utilize a Draft that is deep in talent but short on elite prospects...You can't be scared of trading down, and you can't be afraid to take a little less in return even...You gain picks in the 2nd and 3rd round and trust your boards and scouts...It's the type of strategy that if you hit on a couple guys you can turn an entire Franchise around...And that is exactly what the Bills need... -
I don't think it's as much about being fragile (though his frame is certainly not an asset in that area either)...Rather it's how his game is going to translate to the NFL...We as Bills fans saw first hand with CJ how different the NFL can be for a player that simply ran rough-shot over College Football Defenses...In the NFL Defenders are bigger, faster, quicker, more instinctive, better coached, and far more disciplined...It's one thing making a projection when a 6-3-220 kid tears up College Football...But Austin will be up against it big-time due to his size...He's going to get hit more, and he's going to get hit harder...Those massive holes he's used to are going to close quicker...It's going to be monumentally tougher for him to be a true game breaker like everyone is assuming he will be... I'm not saying Austin can't do it in the NFL...What I am saying is the risk is REAL high with him...REAL high...And the Bills are a 6 win team without a QB, and with needs all over the Roster...They're in no position to take a risk like Drafting a 5-7-172 slot WR at #8 overall...If they want to gamble, why not gamble on a player like the TE Tyler Eifert? The way TE's are becoming incredible weapons in the NFL, why not grab a kid that has size, can go up and get it, is a legit match-up problem down the seams, and especially in the Red Zone?...I just don't understand the Austin thing to the Bills at this time...I don't get it...

Who Do You Think the Bills Take WIth Pick #8?
KOKBILLS replied to Awwufelloff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hate, hate, hate the idea of Drafting Austin at #8... But I think if they stay there, that will be the pick... -
This is pretty much exactly how I feel about Austin...Like the player, hate the fit at this point in time for the Bills...Just hate it... And I don't care how good he was in College...And I admit he was very, very good...Projecting a 5-7-172 slot WR to be worthy of a Top 10 pick is one hell of a risky projection...The players in the NFL that are Austin's size that produce at a top 10 level can be counted on one hand and you'll have a couple of fingers left over...It's beyond a risky projection...And for a team with as many needs as the Bills have, it's just a dumb luxury-pick at this point IMHO... But this (Drafting Austin at #8) would be right up Buddy's alley...I would not be surprised at all if Austin is the pick...Pissed?...Yes...Surprised?...Nope...

Per Ian Rapoport: Bills like Barkley in 2nd round
KOKBILLS replied to Ramius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's basically what Charley Casserly said he was hearing...The difference was Casserley said it was Barkley and Glennon in the 2nd...He said the Bills are not as high on Nassib as people seem to believe... I think first and foremost they are looking to trade down...After that who knows... I have yet to hear his name attached to the Bills...But I would not be surprised at all to see the Bills Draft RT DJ Fluker if he's still available after a trade down...I think the S Vaccaro will be a possibility...And CB DJ Hayden as well...The farther they go down, if OG's Warmack and Cooper are still available, they become more of a possibility...And of course TE Tyler Eifert can't be excluded... That's just my take... -
RIP Larry...Many fond memories...You'll definitely be missed...
-
Right...The only players worth that pick are an OG, and a 5-7-172 smurf WR... Sounds about right to me...
-
Good Mock Bandit...And I'm hoping it's close to what happens come tomorrow...I'm still not convinced 100% that Nassib will be the QB when the Bills trade down...But I certainly think it's the correct, and hopefully accurate strategy...
-
Agreed...The last person in the world I would listen too...especially concerning the QB position...is Buddy Nix...I would consult my 13 year old Nephew first...

Which QB would get you the most excited?
KOKBILLS replied to Billsrhody's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not a Nassib or Barkley guy... But I too like Nassib a little more...Not much more though... Give me the project guys with better size, better athleticism, or both, over either of them... I voted for Manuel of course... -

Jamarcus Russell Making a Comeback

Well I said he was lazy...And he is...I just felt bad for the kid when they were talking about his Uncles...I mean...For someone, after this much time, to be unable to keep from balling when the deaths are mentioned simply shows he is effected in a way many, including me, would not be...I don't give him a pass on the rest...But I do hope he's seen the light because that's about the best way to honor his family... Also...I do understand that Garcia has plenty to gain by getting Russell back in the NFL...But Garcia does not seem to be the type...to me at least...to take a chance on a guy that is 100% nonredeemable, especially considering Garcia was there to witness Russell's collapse...It just seems to me that Garcia is a bit of a straight shooter...Maybe even a bit of a prick to be honest...There has to be something Garcia sees in him... Anyway...I certainly wont be surprised if Russell falls flat on his face again...He's good at it...But I do hope he turns it around...Not sure exactly why...But I do... -

Was there a specific time you've seen Gilmore look very happy? I'm just wondering because he seems like a pretty low-key dude to me...I think that's just the way the kid is...I don't think he was unhappy at all... -

Oh good God...If they take Jones I'm looking for the nearest bridge... I'm not even 100% sure why, but Jones seems to me to be a guy that is going to crumble under NFL pressure...I might be wrong, but there's just something about him I don't like...It's interesting because I had not read Russ Lande's report on Jones before I was writing this...I went and read it and Lande commented in his summary that even though Jones charts out as a high 2nd Round pick he's not high on his potential as an NFL starter...And that's exactly how I see Jones...I realize he has some really good attributes...But there's just something about him overall I don't like... It's interesting...I was saying after Brandon's Presser way back that the Bills were giving zero indication that Buddy was on his way out...Yet there were, and still are, tons of assumptions that Buddy was simply going to assist in this Draft then fade into the sunset...On the surface that looks to be very far from the truth does it not?...I think Brandon's comment about Buddy being 100% in charge of the Football operation still holds true...And I really don't think that's a good thing for any Bills fan... -
Mike Glennon - QB - NC State
KOKBILLS replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I posted this in another thread yesterday...But Charley Casserly said yesterday that he's hearing The Bills like Barkley and Glennon...Probably at #41...He said he's also hearing the Bills are not as high on Nassib as most are assuming... Just thought I would pass this on...I find it interesting because midway through the 2012 College season Sal Capaccio was reporting that the Bills were VERY high on Glennon, and that they had scouted him more than any of the other QB's...Of course this was before they hired Marrone...So who knows...But I always have this theory that, in the end, teams come full circle by Draft day...They usually pick players they have had love for a long time dating way back...Those players are already higher on their boards than they may be on other teams...Due to this I would not be at all surprised (not sure about happy though...) if Glennon ends up being the Bills pick at #41 overall... -

I saw this the other night and I have to say I felt a little guilty for making fun of the kid as much as I did...He's kind of a big softy...But obviously the losses of both his Uncles hit him really, really hard...To see how emotional he still gets talking about them is proof... I still think he's got to overcome his tendencies to be a bit lazy...But if he continues to work hard I have to say I'm actually rooting for him now...I hope he comes back and does well...I really do... -
I'm surprised...I heard Buddy does not like to sleep with the lights on...
