Well... I think concerning Marrone and his Coaching Staff...It certainly must be true that they are pretty happy with the overall talent already on the Roster...That would make the most sense to me based on what we have seen thus far in the off season...Which mean that players like Colin Brown, Zebrie Sanders, Chris White, Marcus Easley, Ron Brooks, and even...dare I say it...Torell Troup are going to be bigger contributors to the depth needs of this team than most of us imagined... I don't think there is any question that The Bills have some players like Dareus, McLovin, Carrington, Hairston, TJ Graham, and a few others who most definitely have talent, but to this point have underachieved...I imagine a good Coach would feel he can bring out that talent and maximize it on the football field... I don't doubt The Bills will be shopping from the bargain bin after the Draft, and especially once we see the final Roster cuts throughout the NFL...I think that's a given...But I do get the feeling that this Coaching Staff is higher on the current Roster than most of us are at least...And I'm not sure how I feel about that just yet...We'll see soon enough if the plan is a good one...or not...

This whole Gruden thing...And generally I like Gruden...But the "make a note of this...make note of that..." I'm sure those notes will be hanging in their lockers when they hit Mini Camp... Right...
-
I don't disagree, but if that's going to be the Bills plan they better trade out of # 8 and get some extra picks...Otherwise they're coming out of this Draft with 5 players on a team with needs, especially depth-wise, that easily double that number...

Well...I certainly hope you're right...I'd like nothing better... -

We'll see...I'm not so convinced, especially concerning Dareus and Gilmore...But I don't dislike any of the 3 necessarily...I just don't think they are slam-dunk Pro Bowlers either... But my point was more about the garbage Buddy spews...Buddy says a lot of things...Then they mostly don't come true... -

Chan loved Fitz, and that led Buddy astray a bit no question...But to say Chan refused to bring in another QB is overstating the situation completely...First of all, it was not Chan's say...It was Buddy's...Chan's take on Fitz had influence no question...But in the end it was Buddy's call period...End of story...Chan Gailey was on record saying Colin Kaepernick was the future of QB's in the NFL...You really think, knowing he said that, Gailey would have tried to block bringing a kid like Kaepernick in? Gailey was loyal to a fault to Fitz, his play calling and game planning were poor at times, but he was not an idiot...He did not refuse anything...Buddy refused to Draft one...That's it... -

Well...As the Bills GM Buddy has picked 3 top 10 players (Spiller, Dareus, and Gilmore) so far who have played a collective 6 NFL seasons...And those 3 have a combined one Pro Bowl appearance...And that was as an alternate... So...Buddy says a lot of things...Most of which never come true, or are completely wrong... Just saying... -

I agree with this take...But I also think there is so much incredibly lazy national media out there just simply connecting the Syracuse dots that it helps the Nassib-to-Buffalo fever... This is most definitely a strange QB Draft overall...And I think that because no QB outside of Geno Smith has really separated themselves from the pack, it's easy for folks to assume the Bills will go with the devil they know so-to-speak...I've felt all along that you have at least 6 other QB's (EJ Manuel, Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson, Matt Scott, Mike Glennon, Tyler Bray) with very similar grades to Nassib, depending on who is grading them...And it's hard to believe that an NFL Scouting Dept is not going to like one or two of those QB's more than Nassib... I'm not 100% against Nassib either...There are a few Scouts out there who think he's the #1 rated QB prospect in this entire Draft, and that's impossible to ignore...I just worry about his upside (and I think other QB's in this Draft like EJ Manuel have far more upside), and I definitely don't think he's worthy of the #8 overall pick...Though I have to admit, if they do pick him at #8 I'll be optimistic...at least for a bit...Because regardless of how I see this QB class I do think it's still the Bills #1 need by far...So if they think he's the guy, then so be it...They just need to be right about it... -
Joe B article on why we need to go SS and my response
KOKBILLS replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that take may very well be closer to the reality of the situation this year...And my only point would be...still...they have to do it...If it's at #41 then so be it...But they absolutely must do it...And I can't imagine how they could go through all these QB prospects with a fine tooth comb and not come to the conclusion that a couple of them are worthy of, at the very least, a 2nd Round pick...Instead I think they are going to like a couple of them enough to possibly trade down a bit in the 1st, but still land in an area where they are safe to take the QB they desire (assuming that QB is not Geno because I think Geno will be gone), instead of chancing it... -
Both (Hairston and Sanders) are possibilities at OG...Buddy says he Drafts OT's that can move in to OG...So I don't see why not...

There you go! Pretty much said it all right there...

Joe B article on why we need to go SS and my response

Agree big time with this take...He's a very good Safety prospect in a Draft that is lacking a top tier at Safety, but is VERY deep in the middle 1st Round and on...I like the Whitner comparison...Not that they are the same player, because they're not...But there are similarities, especially considering where they should be Drafted in the 1st Round...A prospect like Whitner/Vaccaro will get pushed up in a Draft that is lacking a prospect like Mark Barron...And even though I think Barron was clearly an elite-type Safety prospect, I still did not believe he was top 10 worthy...Barron played in all 16 games and had a respectable 89 total tackles, but only one INT, and one forced fumble...He was clearly not a difference maker as a Rookie...I don't think Vaccaro will be either...And I don't believe in Drafting SS's high regardless... It's not really a knock on Vaccaro...He's a good prospect...But lets not get carried away either...Like the Bills did with Whitner for example... -

Agreed... I don't think any Bills Fan is going to guarantee anything concerning this QB class...But like it or not this better be the year The Bills start getting serious about finding the future at QB...And in order to get serious, you need to start Drafting them...The Bills need to identify the QB's they feel they can build around, and they need to Draft one of those QB's in the 1st two Rounds...It's a step towards the ultimate goal. No position is more important...And certainly not SS...Though admittedly, like most positions, the Bills need help there too... But QB needs to be King from now on, or this team will continue to wallow...Build a real Depth Chart at QB for years to come...That is by far the Bills greatest need...IMHO it's not even close...And I have to admit to being surprised when I hear a Bills fan who feels differently...It's really strange to me after what we have all seen not only in Buffalo, but league wide... -
We've Drafted one QB since Trent Edwards (a 3rd Round Pick), and that was in the 7th Round...Only one 7th Round QB in the past 5 Drafts!!!...How is that hitting and missing at every turn?

if the draft does this, what do we do

I do the Tampa deal and take EJ Manuel at #13...If I can't get another trade down... -
Yes that worked..Thanks Bro...
-
That cut and paste did not translate well Astro...But I 100% agree with the outcome...EJ is my favorite QB in this Draft...Good work! Just wish it was easier to read...

I agree with this take...And I think in this class, when you have QB's that all have strengths, and all have flaws...Well...Why not go after the athletes with the very good arms?...I'm not saying I can't live with Nassib, Barkley, Bray, or Glennon (I'm not a big Wilson, Jones, or Dysert guy...)...But I'd much rather see Geno, Manuel, or Scott because of the athletic ability and higher upside potential... -
Right because the Bills don't need a QB in their first couple picks... Seriously...If the Bills trade down it will be with the sole desire to get in line for the QB they like...At least that's what I think...I doubt very much all the efforts they have gone to to bring in these QB prospects will result in a late 2nd to 4th round pick...But we'll see I guess...

Well... WVU lost 5 consecutive games vs. Texas Tech (Road game), Kansas St, TCU (2 OT's), Oklahoma St (Road game), and Oklahoma...Geno did not play very well vs. Tech (15th Ranked Pass Defense in the Country) and Kansas St (28th ranked scoring Defense)...No question about it...But in the next three games he passed for a total of 944 yds, and had 9 TD's to 3 INT's (he also had a rushing TD vs OKSt), while leading his Offense to 38, 34, and 49 points...I think he more than bounced back... Just like every QB who ever lived Geno took more than his share of the blame during WVU's slide...Not that he was unaccountable, because he was...But he certainly played well enough to win in three of those 5 losses...Had those games gone the other way i wonder how much criticism Geno would get? Just saying...
