Defensive scheme and the talent on the roster
KOKBILLS replied to Dexter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
See here's the thing... The Bills GM is on record that they are sticking with the 3-4...Agree or disagree it is what it is...I can't figure out for the life of me why there is so much conversation to the contrary around here...If The Team is set on moving to a 3-4, and is on record that their intention is EXACTLY that, why fight it? Williams and Troupe will both play plenty...The Bills will still use some 4-3 Fronts...Let it go... -
The only thing Gabbert did not do at Indy was throw...He worked out fully...Including a 4.62 40... Rest assured Gabbert impressed plenty of Scouts at the Combine...

I think based on what you pointed out so well, Fans are not going to have much patience for this garbage no question...And it might not be the Court that matters most in the end, but I do feel the Players are going to get absolutely slaughtered in the Court of Public opinion...They did walk away and it seems as if that was exactly what they wanted to do all along...This stuff about Business Partners and Book Opening is not going to cut it with the general public...I'm not quite sure why they feel Peyton Manning/Drew Brees/Tom Brady vs. The NFL is going to be so powerful...I have no idea about the Law behind it, but the Fans are not going to get behind that crap at all...When it comes right down to the basics there are so many Americans out of work and struggling right now it's almost impossible to have much sympathy for the Player side of things...I realize their Employers are Billionaires, but the jobs they create are dream jobs for most of us and the League they bring to the Fans is 2nd to none...I just can't muster up any sympathy for the Players on this one...I hope the Owners take them to the cleaners...
-
Really, PR and spin? Shocking... One thing the Owners clearly are not hiding is their intent on taking back their League...They create some of the greatest employment opportunities in the world for Players, and billionaires or not it's their right to run the League as they see fit in the long run...They are not being unreasonable...Unreasonable is asking for 10 years of audited Financial statements and walking away from the bargaining table like a bunch of spoiled brats when they don;t get their way despite getting all kinds of concessions already... The Owners gave up too much in the past and now they are going to have to go through this painful process to get it back in their favor...This garbage about Business Partners is pretty much exactly what NFL Owners are tired of...We'll see how the Courts see this whole thing...But I doubt very much in the end a Court is going to be able to tell the NFL Owners how they have to run their Business... Players have done extremely well and will continue to do so under any deal...The public consensus will be with the Owners regardless...It will...It's only going to get worse...Unions are not exactly popular nowadays...Players will begin to break...They will speak out against the Union if this goes on to long...They are boiling the golden goose along with her golden eggs and most Players know it...And Public opinion is only going to get worse towards the Players every time that annoying mush-mouth speaks for them...He's about the least likable Leader they could have ever chosen...He comes across as a complete D-bag...Listen to his Pressers...He's not a likable figure...If I was the Players I would get him out of the spotlight NOW...Put Drew Brees or somebody like that infront of the Mic because this Smith guy is not going to win anyone over...When he talks about the Fans, heck when he says the word Fans, I want to punch him in the mouth... Anyway...Just my opinion...

Not saying I agree with the Picks necessarily, but that is exactly the way I think the Top 3 is going to go down...

Nix Doesnt believe it trading down

Well in the case of Whitner had they held tight to Draft Ngata THEN I'd say Marv would have had a point... -
Nix Doesnt believe it trading down
KOKBILLS replied to High Mark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think many of you are missing the point of this thread...It's not about whether or not The Bills will have a viable trade down option...It's about the fact that, apparently, our GM has gone on record saying he does not believe in trading down...I think that's pretty significant because if that is in fact his philosophy, I for one STRONGLY disagree with it...If he's just throwing out smoke screens it's still a strange thing to say...Not believing in trading down tells me the guy does not trust his Scouting Staff much...It's a dumb statement if you ask me...And no one did btw... -
Mayock was also pretty clear during the Combine that he is REAL high on Solder long-term...He's got to learn to bend more and not drop hands hands so much...And he's going to need to be Coached up...But his athletic ability and size make him a Prototype LT Prospect...He'll go plenty high due to what God gave him...Not necessarily due to what kind of LT he was at Colorado...Then the rest will be up to him...
-
Well...Not for nothing...But how the fug do you know? We'll see...I live in Charlotte...I hear the speculation every day...Their situation is not all that different than the Bills except the Bills have an Offensive HC and the Panthers have a Defensive HC...I totally agree that a Franchise QB is a better long term option, but in between you're probably and maybe is the fact that The Panther hired a Defensive guy for a reason...And IF...IF he wants to go Defense at #1 Overall that is EXACTLY what they are going to do... Newton and Gabbert are WAY behind Luck in development and Pro-Style experience...The guy that Drafted Clausen is STILL The Panthers GM...And before you have the luxury to draft a Franchise QB at #1 you have to make the determination that the Player is indeed a Franchise guy...They obviously thought highly about Clausen last year...He was a Rookie...It's expected that he would struggle a bit...Look at how much Clausen improved from his Frosh to his Jr year at ND... IMHO The Panthers are FAR less likely to take a QB than the Bills all things considered...Not saying they won't...Just saying...
-
At the end of the day I think it will be less about Clausen and more about who Rivera wants at #1...They chose a defensive Coach who is going to be HEAVILY involved on the Defensive Side...There are a few stud D-Linemen available, and I think that's where RR is going to want to go... It's just a guess...But they went with a defensive minded HC for a reason I think...And the Panthers REALLY need to replace the massive hole Peppers left when he went to Chicago...

Does Defense really win Championships?
KOKBILLS replied to SoggyHog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously? That's got to be the funniest thing I've read in weeks... The legend grows even in the off season...Amazing... Right...Because those Prospects come along every year... -
You're right he's not great...But he's not solid either...He's barely average if that...

how many of you that don't like us taking a corner at 3...
KOKBILLS replied to Drew026's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've seen him play plenty...He's good...The Bills don't Need another CB...They are a Team with SO many Needs, taking a CB at #3 would be incredibly stupid unless the Kid end up being the next Deion, C. Woodson, R. Woodson, or Revis...The chances of that are REAL slim, and again it's not a pressing Need... If The Bills take a CB at #3 that may very well be the straw that breaks my back with this Team... Seriously...Enough is enough... -
I pretty much agree with this point...I saw at least 5-6 Auburn Games this year and no question that Kid has some major WOW-factor...I think he's going to be a hard worker and his attitude seems to be a can-do-type...The jump from the Offense he was running at Auburn to what he'll be doing in the NFL a couple years from now is like jumping over the Grand Canyon...Bills Fans are going to have to be patient...And using the #3 overall Pick and asking for patience will be tough...But I'm not going to bet against Newton...He's definitely a rare talent...The questions are going to be what exactly he's got between the ears, and is he willing and ready to be the hardest working Man on the Team...

Carucci: Bills GM Nix likes Cam Newton "a great deal"
KOKBILLS replied to Marshmallow's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right...Because no matter who we pick at #3, as long as it's not Newton or Gabbert, it's going to make us SO much better...Cause we're only a Player or two away from the Playoffs after all... Gailey and Nix have already told us they are picking with an eye to the future...And it's funny how some Bills Fans just choose to ignore those comments... -
Current mocks...Pete Prisco & Chad Reuter say Gabbert
KOKBILLS replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just have a felling it's going to be Gabbert or Newton in the end...Just a gut thing... -
Right...The myth that he has a 57.8 career completion % in 36 NFL Starts...Totally made up... It is what it is...There was 26 NFL QB's with a higher Completion % than Fitz in 2010...Does Comp % tell the whole story? Of coarse not...Is it a myth that Fitz has never had a 60% Completion % in any of his NFL Seasons? Nope...Not a myth...It's a fact...
-
The LAST thing in the world The Bills need to do is Trade ANY Draft Picks away...They are SO far from being a Team that can afford to give up Picks it's really not even funny...Seriously...Trade Down? Absolutely!!! Trade away Picks and come up with a net loss? No F'n way...

Never gets old...

How far are we from GB? do we need a QB?
KOKBILLS replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know about "we," but I know what I think about Fitz's potential...Not to say that I'm right...It's just My opinion...But it does fascinate me that so many Bills Fans feel Fitz will get better and not level off, or even worse regress...I'm not saying that he can't get better, because obviously it's a possibility...But the Guy has had 36 NFL Starts...That's 2 1/4 Full Seasons...He took a big leap in 2010 no question...But he's going to have to take a leap equally as big to start being mentioned amongst the NFL's best QB's...And that's what The Bills need him to be...Amongst the best...Let say Top 10... Here's what Fitz will have to do to be a Top 10 QB in 2011... Improve his Completion % by 4.8%... Throw for 653 more Yards... Throw about 5 less INT's... Improve his QB Rating by about 10 Points... Keep everything else he did in 2010 about the same... Now I'm not saying that Fitz can't do these things because obviously he can...Maybe...I'm just not convinced, and I'm DEFINITELY not convinced that Fitz can be a Top 10 calibre QB...So the way I see it, because I value the QB Position SO highly, it's by far the biggest unresolved Need The Bills have...Like I said before I'm not sure they can address it this Off Season...But to me it's still #1 by a mile...Hope that explains where I'm coming from on all this...
