  1. This ^ is spot on... And I'm not sure I can express how sick and tired I am about this little undercurrent of the Whitner backers who want to prop the guy up, for what reason I have absolutely no clue...It's actually embarrassing sometimes...I can't for the life of me figure out what player these folks are watching...But it sure as hell is not the SS I'm watching... And let me get this out first...No one is saying Whitner is useless...He does some things well enough...He certainly does have the athletic ability to be a good NFL SS...He's a willing hitter despite being a bit undersized...But he's no where even close to the Player he was supposed to be, or the Player he thinks he is... There are a few things that the Whitner lovers out there simply refuse to properly acknowledge...You can't just say the guy is not a bad player, and even though he's not exactly living up to his #8 overall status, he's leading the worst Defense in the league in Tackles...So he's not the problem really...Right? Um...No, not right...His Draft status is 100% the most relevant thing about his play. especially because the guy never seems to back down from thinking he's something special...Now I will say this much, it's not Donte's fault those idiots Drafted him at #8 overall...But it happened...And this Team needs him to play like a star, not like an average NFL SS who can't cover a TE to save his life...You want to bring up stats, how about 12 Passes Defended in 58 NFL Games as a Safety...That's not a typo...It's a fact...12 Passes Defended!!!! That's about one Pass Defended every 5 freaking Games!!! He has ZERO Passes Defended in 2010...ZERO...And don't forget Donte has played some FS in his career...12 Passed Defended in 58 Games is almost impossible to do as an NFL Safety...Don't believe me? Well lets look at the Safeties Drafted after Whitner in the 2006 Draft...Roman Harper 29 Passes Defended in 56 Games, Daniel Manning 22 Passes Defended and 6 INT's in 66 Games, Bernard Pollard 18 Passes Defended and 7 INT's in 66 Games...Donte Whitner was the #8 Pick in the 2006 Draft...There was only 7 Players in the entire Draft taken ahead of Whitner...He's expected to be better...period...end of story...Heck the SS Drafted one pick ahead of Whitner has been lambasted in the Media as a disappointment in Oakland yet he has 32 Passes defended in 69 Games...The Bills were expecting to get the next Polamalu or Wilson...They got well... Donte Whitner... And don't tell me Whitner would be better with more talent around him...Sure I'd like to test that theory...But Teams already pick on him in the passing Game...With more talent around him he would just become more of a target... I have to say this much...As long as the Whitner loving Bills Fans stay the course they will likely not be bothered with the losing...Cause if you can't see how Whitner is not good enough in the grand scheme of things, then losing football games wont be a big deal at all...
  2. And when their names are Kelly, Marino, Elway, Manning, Manning II, Rivers, Big Ben, etc...They win a LOT of games, even some Super Bowls, and go the Hall Of Fame... It's all relative...You have to pick the right guy and sometimes that's not so easy...But it's not impossible either...
  3. Everything is more fun when you win... At the same time stuff like this can really irritate Fans when you're losing...Especially when you have not won a game yet...Yet more enjoyment to be shared from the fact that the Bills flat out suck...
  4. And with the success he's had with it why would he change now?
  5. Agreed...And don't forget Miami and Atlanta before that...The Jets went 4-12 in 2005 and 2007...Seems like the Bills are just about the only Organization outside of Detriot (Franchise QB in place and improving) and Houston (an expansion team with Franchise QB in place and FAR more talent overall than the Bills) that can't get it right for at least one year out of five...We've had 10 years of excuses...The saddest thing is many Bills fans have fallen prey to the lesser expectations and dumb ass explanations of why we suck again...A couple of years like this in the 90's and Folks would have been storming OBD...Now it's just the way it is...Makes me wanna puke...
  6. 100% agree with that statement...Truer words have rarely been written on this Board...
  7. True...And I'm not singling out your Post when I say... The MAIN difference is...Jason Taylor is Jason Taylor...And Aaron Maybin, despite what Todd McShay believed is...well...NOT Jason Taylor... Taylor entered the NFL a bit lighter than he is now, but there was never any question he was a player...Maybin can't even get on the Field in his 2nd year...I'm not questioning whether or not Maybin could be utilized better due to his skill set...I am saying some Folks around here are setting the bar a bit high for this Kid...He's just not very good right now...No matter what stance he's in...He's getting owned out there on a regular basis...He's can't beat out Kelsay, a Journeyman OLB, or a couple Rookies for PT...Lets be real Folks...It's not just the Coaching...Maybin is just not very good right now and he's well on his way to being out of the NFL in a couple years if he can't improve REAL quickly...
  8. Not saying you're wrong or anything joe but we need this reminder? Did you kick your dog today as well?
  9. So let me get this straight...You wanna go back in time to those wonder years of a Fewell led D?...Even a Fewell led team? Right...That's why the Bills had all those winning Seasons with Fewell as DC... And I've heard all the excuses...I saw all the Games...Every down of every one...Can we just freaking move on please? Like I said he's not a bad Coach...And sure I'll admit he's better than the DC we've got now...But this revisionist history is about as ridiculous as it gets...And once again proof that the overall mentality around here has bottomed out...Fewell is gone...He's not coming back, and he was no better than average while he was here...I wish him all the best...Hugs, kisses and all that sweet stuff... Move on...Nothing to see here...The Bills still suck...
  10. Seriously? Talent difference maybe? Head Coach difference maybe? Front Office and Scouting Department that understands talent maybe? Those Fewell lead D's certainly looked awesome while bottoming out in Run Defense most every Year (28th in 2006, 25th in 2007, 22nd in 2008, 30th in 2009)...Good God talk about short memories... Look nothing against Fewell who is a decent Coach, but the Giants front 7 makes the Bills look like a Pop Warner Team...He was a beter Coach than Jauron...I'll give him that much...But to be perfectly honest much of what I've read in this thread is further proof that the Football IQ on this Board is at an all time low...
  11. You're dreaming if you think Ryan Mallett is a 2nd round Pick...He's about a mortal lock for the Top 10 of the 2011 Draft...And Ponder will probably sneak into the 1st Round as well...
  12. The Mallet and Locker evaluation is going to be a nightmare for some Teams...I prefer Mallett right now but I would love to see the Kid get out of his own way every now-and-again and stop reminding me of Bledslow at times...On the other hand, when I see that arm on Mallett and the fact that he's completed over 65% of his Passes for over 1000 yds vs. Georgia, Alabama and Texas A&M...Well... With Locker I would love to see him be more accurate, but his physical ability would make anyone excited... Maybe it's all going to come down to what type of system you run and who your Head Coach is...I'm hoping this is a Manning, Rivers, Big Ben type of year at QB and that way the Bills really can't go wrong...But chances are that's not going to happen... Good luck Buddy...You'll need it...
  13. Agreed...Even though I don't believe Locker is 1st Pick Overall-type material he's clearly a 1st round Prospect. If only because he's a QB and nothing more...He's got a lot of work to do...But he's got a lot of upside too... And did I mention he's a QB...
  14. Interesting that Ellis had 5 Tackles and a Sack in the 1st Game...He's played less and less as the Defense has gotten worse and worse...And he's the one that gets cut...Anyone else find that a bit strange? I mean, it can be argued he had the best pre-season of any Player on our Defense...This is another in a long line of strange moves if you ask me...It's almost like they did this to shut everyone up about the Kelsay extension...Cause my thought was always that Kelsay should give way to Ellis, if only because Ellis was younger and needed more PT so the Bills could evaluate him...I don't know...
  15. We haven't, true enough... But we have to separate Buddy from the Drafts before he got here...It looks like Spiller is going to be a pretty good Player in time and a HUGE part of this Franchises future...We'll see how the rest of this 2010 Draft pans out...But I'm not going to assume that just because DJ and Marv were a terrible talent evaluators Nix will follow in those footsteps...I won't assume that yet... I would be MUCH more at ease if they would get rid of Modrak and bring someone in that has had some recent success in the NFL Draft...Grab a Scout from a Team like Baltimore that runs a 3-4 and always seems to do a good job of bringing in young talent, and elevate him to Head Scout in Buffalo...Something, anything other than Modrak...No matter what his involvement has been Modrak has the stench of failure all over him and his Scouting Department...Gotta clean that house...
  16. He's not getting any better...On a better Defense he would get picked on even more because he's a liability...He would be a big hitter if he was a Corner...But he's not...So he's really not a big hitter compared to quite a few SS's in the league...So he's made a couple big hits in 4 Years...Big deal...I still can't understand why he's on the field as much as he is...I'm not just saying this to hate, I truly believe George Wilson and Bryan Scott are better Players. I think both are more instinctive and if given the chance they'll make more plays than Lil' Donte...I'm guessing Donte is on the Field more due to his Leadership Position on the Team...Cause it's certainly not due to his play...He's constantly a day late and a dollar short out there...He would be average for the 8th Overall Pick in the 4th Round...He's a constant remainder of how terrible Levy and Jauron were in evaluating talent...It's a joke...
  17. I could see both Carolina and NE possibly taking Luck or even Mallett high...Carolina is going to have a new HC and probably a new GM...So there will be no loyalty to Clausen...Brady is no spring chicken and up to this point the Pats have done little to secure his eventual heir...The Patsies are most definitely savvy enough to take a Top QB if they fell in love with the Kid...And lets not forget about Cleveland in this mix who would almost assuredly take a Top QB like Luck (assuming he comes out) if they get the chance...So the Bills will have PLENTY of competition for one of the Top QB's in the eventual Top 5 of the 2011 Draft...Getting the #1 Pick or picking 2nd behind Detroit is about their only chance to assure getting the QB of their choice...
  18. Right...Well...My life is outstanding...I hope yours is as well! And all the heart in the world is never going to make Lil' Donte a top tier NFL SS...It's not like I sit around and look for things to find fault with concerning him...I'm a Buffalo Bills Fan...Have been for 40 plus years now...There is nothing I would wish for more (well maybe a couple things) than for Donte to become the player the Bills thought he was when they used the #8 overall Pick on him...But the the tape don't lie...You can't hide out there... I don't question his heart...I question his ability and instincts...He's a liability out there...I wish it was different, but it ain't...
  19. That's hilarious...Didn't Darryl Talley just comment on this type of thing? And don't worry, I'm sure the Day Spa is full service... I'm sorry...I know there is really nothing wrong with this stuff...I know it does not necessarily mean a guy is a metro-whatever or feminine...I'm sure Lil' Donte is a tough guy and all...But please for the love of God can we just get rid of him once and for all...Best of luck to him, but honestly I just don't want the guy on My team for reasons on and off the field...
  20. Or any Year since Manning...Right? The Bills don't need the next Peyton Manning...They need a QB that, in a few years, will be significantly better than Fitz or Brohm...I think there are plenty of Prospects coming out next Year with that type of potential...And none of them will be as good as Manning...But then again neither is Eli, Brees, or Big Ben and they all have SB Rings too...
  21. Right...And those numbers could not have anything to do with which Player got the ball more in the red Zone and Goal Line during their time in Buffalo could they? No offense but when I read stuff like this I wonder whether or not you're actually watching the Games or just skipping them for the comfort of the stat sheet...Have you noticed Freddie having problems getting into the End Zone when he's been given the Ball in the Red Zone? Have you noticed that Marshawn is some kind of break-away-at-any-time-for-a-TD threat terror? The TD numbers are just that...numbers...If Freddie had been given the same opportunities I suspect (based on what I've seen him do most of the time during his career when he gets the Ball) he puts up the same TD numbers or even better than Lynch...Just like the yards per carry...
  22. That may be...But I'm guessing no matter what stance you put them in a better football player will find a way to make plays...You're giving Maybin credit he does not deserve at this point...He basically makes zero plays...Nothing...Notta...Gotta be more than the stance Bro... And go ahead and stand him up over there and watch how Teams Run right at him...That's what they will do I 100% guarantee it...And it may very well be the reason they line him up the way they do...The Kid can't play the Run...His Head Coach has already told us that and the HC before him seemingly agreed...If he can't get leverage in a 3-point stance how is he going to get any standing up? Just saying... Look if you want to say give him some time I'm OK with that...But blaming Coaches?...I don't know...Coaches who have had at least some success Coaching OLB's in a 3-4 suddenly can't Coach this Kid? I'm not buying into it...He's just not that good yet...
  23. Right cause the truth has to deal with 100% speculation...Unless you can see into the future of coarse... Terrell Davis was pretty much done at 26...Marcus Allen played into his late 30's...A couple Months after his 28th birthday Bo Jackson, the best overall athlete I've ever seen, suffered a career ending injury...Ricky Williams is 33 and physically he looks like he can play another 3-5 years easy... It's all relative...You're statement is not "the truth," it's your opinion...
